  1. Hi again, first at all, i wish a Happy New Year to all of you guys. About the problem, i think that i found the reason for engine cooling: it's a heating system!!! When heating in cabin is on and drive through downhill (means without throttle), engine temp starts to fall. I've just turned off the fan and engine temp was normalized very soon, even outside temp was -2C. So, is it possible that heating system can have such impact on coolant temperature ?
  2. Today i was at dealer's workshop and after computer diagnostics , they stated that thermostat is not working properly and needs to be replaced (thanks good, still under warranty ) . Tomorrow i will pick up my SM and will see what will be results. Anyway , thanks to all of you guys for advices and opinions.
  3. Your points are ok, but is cooling so strong that decreases engine temp? Or something is wrong with engine thermostat(suppose his duty is to close coolant cycle through water cooler in order to keep engine warm)?
  4. Hi guys, i'd like to ask which is the usual time/distance for your Yeti's to achieve engine work temp in winter ? Some weeks ago i've noticed very unusual behavior on my Yeti - after passing 5-6 km engine was fully warm(90 C on temp gauge) At that moment i've started to drive 4-5 km downhill, without throttle. At the end of downhill, temperature of the engine has began to fall!!! After adding a throttle , temp has rise to normal 90C. Have any of you has noticed similar behavior?
  5. Hello again, after 1 year and 7 months, i've passed 29000km with my Yeti. These days morning temperatures in my town were 2-3 C, but engine starts without rattles!!! I must notice that since last service and software update in April, engine work is much smoother with decreased fuel consumption.
  6. After rattles behavior takes serious dimension (i was forced to push gas pedal right after ignition every morning for 15-20 sec, after which engine starts to work normally ) i have visited authorized service , where failure in electronic parts on two of four nozzles was detected. All nozzles were changed ( fortunately warranty covers that ) and problems had gone. Now i have no problems in morning , even on -12 C (lowest temp this winter in my town). Btw, can anyone explain me which is function of cam sensor ?
  7. Is it ok to use 205/16 tyres on yeti, regarding fact that it is on sale with 215/60 16 or 225/55 17?
  8. Did they have new version of ECU software ???
  9. I was tried with Lukoil 95 and 98 octanes petrol and there is no difference in behavior, same symptoms, same rattles, with no rules when they occur. As a curiosity, this morning my Yeti 1.2 has proper start with no rattles on 7 C temperature!!!!!!
  10. I have passed first regular service on 10000 km and as service guy told me, ECU log was clear, no any error messages related with cold start rattles. Despite that, rattles in first 20 sec. are still present and i couldn't find any logical key under which conditions they appear. Next step, i plan to leave my SM into service for a couple of days to find and repair this 'bug'.

    1.2 TSI real MPG

Well, it seems that our community of 1.2 tsi owners can be divided into 2 groups: 1 group - avg 42 and over 2 grpup - avg 35-40 So , has anybody some information's about 1.2 tsi engine versions, or maybe software update , which could be reason for difference in fuel consumption, or everything is result of driving style and 'leg weight' ?

    1.2 TSI real MPG

Back from vacation trip in Greece, (lovely 10 days) here is my statistic: I've passed 740 km with 60 litres of petrol, so overall fuel consumption was 8.1lkm or 35 mpg. This trip includes two longer stages on motorways , 250 km each, generally in speed limit range (100-120 km/h) with few road races (140-160 km/h) with average consumption according Maxidot 7.9 and 8.2 respectivelly, and few short trips on A roads when i succeed to manage 6.5 lkm (43.5 mpg) . Air-con was on near all the time of trip. So my conclusion is that you can manage good mpg on when you are on speeds below 100-110 km/h,but over 130 km/h Yeti starts to drink.
  13. Hi to all, can anyone experienced some engine hickups or rattles on idle, after first morning ignition of engine ? I notice that behavior few days ago, with duration of 15-20 seconds , but already noticed that when weather was colder, after ignition engine revs at 1200 rpm some time (20-30 secs) and then drops on ~700, Now, revs are dropped no ~700 slightly after ignition. Is this consequence of higher outside temperatures ? I have 1.2 TSI.
  14. Today i pass 300 km (~200 miles) and succeed to manage 41 mpg! Trip was combined on motorway (with speed mainly 75 mph but on some periods 85 ), A roads (speed between 55-60 mph) and little urban driving So, after 1000 miles, improvement of consumption is noticeable.
  15. Weaver, can you please give us details about your mileage and nature of your trips, i mean on which way you succeed to manage 40+MPG average consumption. By the way, my 1.2 tsi has 1400 km, (~900 miles) with 35 MPG for this mileage, but i feel that engine begins with increasing MPG. Tomorrow i will go on a longer trip, so i will have fresh info about consumption
