They come on with the ignition on mine - unless they are already on from unlocking the car. -

I'm up in York. Just wanted to make sure that your maps would happily run 95ron fuel, as my company fuel card won't allow me to buy 98ron  Cheers -

Ben, What grade of petrol do your maps need? Cheers Pat -
Sure is, but driven my mates WRX before (though not very slowly!) Must admit I've tried dropping a cog to beat the hesitation then found myself nearly rear ending the car in front! Lucky the brakes are strong! Thats exactly what I thought - at low revs I thought it would feel like a 1.4 but still pull immediately.

Hi all, Hoping someone can advise on this one 'cos its doing my head in! Had my new octy vRS petrol for about 5 weeks/2500 miles now and love it  , however I've noticed that there is a hesitation when I put my foot on the throttle at low revs. It doesn't feel like turbo lag as there is literally no acceleration at all. Its most noticable in second gear when rolling up to roundabouts and junctions (the kind of time you really don't want hesitation!). Today it really wound me up as I stalled twice in a multi storey - I let the revs drop to about 900rpm (in 1st gear) whilst coming to the top of the ramp, then went to accelerate when I could see it was clear. Instead of it instantly picking up, the revs continued to fall and the engine stalled. Is this hesitation normal? Is it something to do with it being a turbo? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers Pat

Unleaded & Super Unleaded mix
pad953 replied to SlimAdy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Ignore the term "super" - in most other european countries 95ron is the higher rated fuel, hence it's superunleaded. You only need 95ron in the TSi engines. -
+1 In theory a cat D would be fine, but this one doesn't look right

I'm picking up my manual petrol vRS next week. Been advised to use variable, mind you I do 25k/yr. I asked about the difference in price between the two service types and there was about £50 difference which I was told was because of the oil the variable needs - I thought you got the same oil regardless of service regime?

Warranty work in the third year can be carried out at any skoda dealer - it's skoda UK that pays for it.

Can you have a look and see if there is a nice shiney new black vRS round the back when you go to get yours. Mines due in 2-3 weeks

This is worrying ............ URGENT
pad953 replied to peter999's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Looks a bit naff but can't see how it would be a safety issue -
Welcome The comfort should be improved but whether its significant or not is a matter of opinion. The speed measurement difference would be 0.4% less according to online calculators so speedo reading of 60mph=59.8mph, which I would guess is fine Hope thats some help

Adding optional extras after order taken?
pad953 replied to Gooner4_1998's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I added xenons 2 weeks after ordering and the dealer also told me that changes could be made up until approx 4 weeks before build date, so you could be just in time. -
vRS - new possible owner - advice needed
pad953 replied to MrRee's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I thought the vRS brakes were brilliant when I test drove it, however I was coming from a mondeo which have shocking brakes - few brown trouser moments with those! -

Is the price good? err, yes - thats the same as DrivetheDeal so you're unlikely to find cheaper petrol or diesel? you've got to decide for yourself - they're both good engines but its horses for courses! Afraid I cant comment on reliability as I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered but when I compare this forum to the mondeo one I'm also a member of, these guys seem to have a lot less problems. Oh, and be careful asking about options on here - I ended up adding £1500 worth of options 'cos of this flippin site! -
I hope that included fuel!

Theres been various discussions, all over the net, regarding aftermarket HIDs. Most people seem to think they're pretty decent but you need to bear in mind that they are technically illegal for street use.
-
Well this could be a test - I ordered 4th Jan with same spec as davydoo ( assuming its a hatch). Mines due to be build next week (week 8).

I was told that the new tsi engine was made to run on 95 all the time, which was kind of a selling point for me because my work fuel card doesn't let me buy 98ron
-
Have you used Martyn Beever? If so I think you stand a better chance than most at being kept up to date.

Do they just make these build weeks up while you're on the phone to them? I ordered 4th Jan and got given build week 8 :wonder:
