  1. If you search on the Skoda site for VRS CR DSG and click Parking Sensors, there are only 5 at about £20k within 100 miles of me (and I am in the south east so quite a few dealers). I don't think I can pay £20k for a used one with minimal options.
  2. I have been looking for a nearly new/used VRS CR DSG with a few options and can't find one. So I had a look (dream) at some C Classes. You can get 220's for about £20k but I saw on MB's site about six 9 month old (ex-MB mgers cars) C350 CDIs (sweet V6 diesel engines) for sale for about £24k. These are fully loaded with options and I think cost about £40k at list price. So tempted......
  3. Good stuff, what kind of discount are dealers accepting?
  4. Thanks guys. I am looking for used/nearly new. The L&K that I had my eye on is now sold and the only other one reasonably near to me is an ex-demo and up for £20k... I'll have another look for a vRS with more options than the norm.
  5. Sorry if this is a silly question... Has anyone bought a L&K and made it a bit more like a vRS? I know it sounds silly but I like the leather and gadgets of the L&K, but would also like it to be a bit more like a vRS. I also like the petrol DSG L&K which seems to be more economical than the vRS petrol but quicker/more refined than the vRS diesel (?). So is there anything that can be done to make the L&K look/feel/drive better? Springs, remap, grill, etc, any thoughts?
  6. Are remaps likely to result in a failed MOT due to increased emissions? Also how can a remap result in more power and better MPG at the same time? Better use of higher octane fuel?
  7. The link below doesn't fully answer your question but may help a bit. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/153153-skoda-dealer-tried-to-sell-a-diesel-pd-as-a-cr/page__p__1901857entry1901857
  8. I believe that having different tyres can confuse the ESP as well, not worth risking it for braking as well - it's the only thing between you and the tarmac
  9. I'm also interested in the answer to your query as I test drove a couple of TFSI's and their average mpg were in the mid-20s - I assumed it was due to shorter distance test drives. Did you test drive a Focus ST? How did it compare to the vRS in terms of handling and did it feel as well put together?
  10. Hi MrRee, just wondering if you have had a test drive in a vRS and how does the handling compare to an Imprezza? Hve you tried the diesel Imprezza or a Legacy (not the new model), how do they compare?
  11. I have test driven 3 vRS recently, a one year old which was fine and two 2-3 year olds both of which had this slight clutch judder and a turbo lag. Do these 2 issues creep in after a couple years? These two cars felt like they had two areas of hesitation when gearing down and accelerating.
  12. Following on from my green brake calipers thread and the thread where I test drove a diesel CR which turned out to be a PD, today I went to see and drive a low mileage 09 vRS. However, it did NOT have the following: - spare wheel - dual zone air-con - rear electric windows - jumbo box / arm rest etc - aux socket I thought that all of these were standard from about 2007 or 2008. I have a brochure dated "UK April 2008" that has all of these in bold and says the bold items are "extra equipment as standard". The dealer tried to assure me that these were all options up to the face lift version and that this was really a 2009 car with no options. I suspect it is actually a much older car that was registered in 2009. But why would that have happened? The brake surronds (not just the disks) also had a thin coating of rust which made me think the car had been standing for awhile. I loved how the car drove and it has no marks whatsoever. While the lack of these options is not a major problem (if the price is right) I am concerned that if this is a much older car it could be a problem to sell on or if it was standing in a field somewhere that some of the electrics or mechanical items may not last as long as they should.
  13. With what's going on with Toyota you would have thought that VAG would try their best to avoid negative publicity from this issue
  14. Have you considered a Subaru Legacy Spec B Sports Tourer? A newish used one would be about the same price as a new vRS on DtD but will come with full leather, huge sunroof, more options and that AWD handling. It is bigger than the vRS Estate, but of course you will be back in the mid-20s mpg combined and below 20mpg when having fun and the car tax would be £400+. It could be converted to LPG for about £1600. More details on UKLegacy.com
  15. I think the FL vRS with the right colour and trim could look almost as good as the cars you have listed, except the RS which is a different class of car/price. It does grow on you. It comes down to how many boxes does it tick, how many miles will you drive and what do you need the car for. I haven't got one (yet) and will probably get a pre-FL as I can't justify the new price, even on DtD, and the pre-FL looks are growing on me as well. Slightly lowering, tinting, and getting rid of some chrome on the grills would help though. Also is it just the looks or the badge as well. My wife can't quite get her head around getting a Skoda, but she will. She'll continue to drive our "55" plate Legacy but I think she will soon come to terms with the vRS being a Skoda...
  16. Does anyone have any idea if with the new "10" registration coming in next week there is likely to be an influx of 2-3 year old used cars on the market?
  17. Was there a major change in the petrol engine or suspension from 06 to 09? For petrol, I am looking at a 18k mileage 2006 reg and a 5k mileage 2009 reg and there is only £3,000 difference in price. I am wondering whether to go £3k higher (which will be above my ideal budget) and get the 2009 or stick to my budget and get a 2006. Or will the extra £3k be worth it with the newer car over the long run? Cheers
  18. Hi all I am looking for a used Octavia VRS Petrol and noticed that pre2007 they have green brake calipers. Were there any other changes that I should know about in 2007 that may sway me to choose a later year (2007 onwards) and stay away from 2006 (not that the colour of the brake calipers would sway my decision). Thanks
  19. What average/combined mpg did you get on the ST? My Legacy gets about 27mpg and I gather the petrol VRS will be about 35mpg with the ST somewhere in between (depending on how spirited you drive). Thanks
  20. Hi MrRee I am curious, how old are you? I am 42 and am looking to change from a Subaru Legacy to a VRS. I have driven the pre-face lift petrol and diesel and preferred the petrol. But I must say it doesn't feel as well put together as the Subarus and doesn't handle like them. I have also tried the Focus ST and can't decide what to do. The ST has a wow factor and sounds great. Am I too old for an ST? Is it too much a boy racer car? The VRS seems like the correct choice form the head, but from the heart??
  21. I doubt thathe was behaving fraudulently, it would be more than he would dare do. I just think so many salesmen now do not know their product. I asked the guy who I bought my car from what PD meant and he had not a clue. I bet this guy didn't know the difference either. Yeah, you're probably right, as you say it's frustrating when buyers know more about the products salesmen are trying to sell.
  22. Today I went to test drive a 2008 VRS which is advertised by a Skoda dealer as a Diesel CR. The sales manager and salesman confirmed it was a CR beforehand. When driving it I thought it didn't feel like how the CR's have been talked about on here. It didn't rev up past about 5k and was noisy and felt quite harsh. He said he was sure it was a CR so I asked to see the sticker in the boot that has the engine code on it and it said BMN, which I understood from here meant it was a PD and not a CR. The salesman showed me a pump under the bonnet and insisted that as this car had that "pump" it was a CR. Finally he said he would check the log book and 5 minutes later came back saying sorry it is a PD diesel. This is the first time in my life I have driven a diesel car and I could tell that it wasn't driving as it should have for a CR (again from discussions on here). So I wonder whether this dealer and salesman just made a (stupid) mistake or tried to fraudulently mis-sell that car. Rant over. BTW - if it wasn't for good folks on here taking the time to put useful information up I may have bought that car thinking it was a CR? Thanks
