  1. I have to amend this as apparently its not a recall but an advisory notice for dealers to check any electric boot struts, my strut actually collapsed and broke off at the tailgate end, if either myself or my wife had been in the boot when it happened we could have been seriously hurt when it fell down. Both struts are being replaced under warranty.
  2. Took my car in for 2nd service today only to get a phone call from the service department to say that the tailgate support strut collapsed on them during the service and when ordering a replacement strut found that there was a recall on these struts, is anybody else aware of this recall?
  3. Hi, Today I have had my 2013 1.8tsi Dsg elegance recalled for an gearbox oil change, has anyone else had this? and if so did they manage to get a reason-I couldn't- the receptionist pleaded ignorance.
  4. Thanks for that, I'll try that tomorrow.
  5. Hi, I have a 13 reg Superb Elegance and I cannot get my Nokia 520 to connect to my Columbus, I have Bluetooth switched on but after searching for new user display comes as no connection possible, can anyone help or should I take back to the dealer and see if they can resolve the problem, Any advise most welcome as I am not technically aware. Thanks in advance.
  6. Had mine just over a week now, ordered on 28th February, same model as you are waiting for, an absolute dream to drive, gear change is as smooth as silk. hope you enjoy yours as much as I am enjoying mine.
  7. Just received £13450 for my 3yr old twindoor elegance Superb against a new 1.8tsi elegance estate, more than satisfied with that plus the Vat offer it all made sense.
  8. The way I deleted unwanted numbers from my Superb-after like yourself not finding an obvious way was to go back to factory default settings and then re-entering your phone password to connect your phone which will then upload your phonebook to the Columbus, It worked for me.
  9. My Superb was ordered on 28th February, I was informed by my dealer that it had been built and awaiting shipping on 23rd of April, was contacted by dealer yesterday to be given the registration number and because I have to have the car converted to hand controls an agreed handover date of 20th of May was decided, I consider that the time from ordering to collecting is quite reasonable, as I have memories of the days when vehicles from certain car manufacturers could be ordered and delivered within a fortnight but unfortunately a lot of those cars had been built up to a year previously and been sitting on old airfield runways before being sold, I would sooner wait like we have to now and know that the vehicle that you ordered has been built just for you.
  10. I ordered my Superb on the 28th of February, one week before you with quite a lot of extras, panoramic roof, kessy, wood trim, electric tailgate Dsg, so our orders are quite close. Hope you have a better experience with Underwoods than I did. Also any Superbs ordered prior to end of March, when dealers stopped taking orders for Superbs would as I have been given to believe would be non facelift models-they have only recently started taking orders for facelift models.
  11. The very next day after answering your first post I received a phone call from my dealer,( just by the way I assume your dealers to be Underwoods ) that my Superb had left the factory and is awaiting shipment and would be available to me in four to five weeks, so on that basis I would have thought that your vehicle could be ready around the same time as mine because depending on how many vehicles my dealer (Vindis, Bury-st- Edmunds) would be expecting, that your Superb could be on the same transporter, Of course I could be completely wrong but I hope not.
  12. I ordered my new superb 1.8 tsi Dsg Elegance at about the same time as you,I was told build date would be end of April and ready for me towards the end of May, Though Skoda often do have small stocks of standard vehicles available it doesn't mean that what you may want even without any extras is sitting in a field somewhere like a couple of other well known manufacturers who shall remain nameless, its could the colour or the Dsg that is not available that make your order a factory one, then when built it then has to wait to be shipped along with many more orders, when it arrives in this country it has to wait again to be transported to your dealer, then the dealer has to prepare the vehicle ready for you-so a month from build time to you getting your vehicle is not so bad.
  13. I have had 2 skodas, first was an Octavia 2.0tdi with dsg,had for 3 years with no problems at all with dsg,I now have a Superb 2.0cr tdi dsg, again for 3 years absolutely no problems,I shall take delivery of a Superb 1.8tsi dsg at the end of May,like everything you buy these days with technology advancing so quickly you just never know what can happen, and if Dsg boxes are that problematic why are all the other car manufacturers now developing and fitting them,Ford does so do Fiat and there are others although the actual name Dsg is the property of Vag group, even Audi fit them with another name and so do Bentlys,So you pays your money and make your choice like when fuel injection first came out,the horror stories about that were horrendous,ie Truimph Stag.I'll take my chance with the dsg box as it's the best Automatic? that I have ever had over the last 40 years.
  14. Does that mean that Superbs on factory order for delivery in early June would be the facelift versions?
  15. I don't understand what you mean about yours is a nokia and it's under the front seat, the module under the front seat drivers side is the bluetooth and rsap unit,I believe that those module fitted prior to 2011 had only the remote sim access unit fitted,I believe that anyone who uses Vodaphone and owns a nokia gets these Texts automatically as Vodaphone thinks the person is connecting a different phone each time you switch of your engine.I have tried this today and up until 1030 this morning I switched my engine off five times and received a total of ten texts from Vodaphone. All communications with Vodaphone regarding this problem are met by endless promises to block the automated texts, but in actual fact they do nothing-I am going to change to another service provider as soon as my contract expires.
  16. Ps as I writing this post PowerMalc was posting his so my reference was to the previous post
  17. In response to the last post you are forgetting that as said there is no cambelt to worry about and I also believe servicing costs are lower,in my case at the moment there is the saving of no VAT to pay,not only on the basic price but including any extras,if I do go ahead and buy a 1.8tsi I will save nearly £6000,so it makes good financial sense,as to comments about disabling the Dpf,the cost is inexcess of £400 and the legal position with regard to the Mot is not clear at the present moment,as I do a very low mileage annually it makes sound sense to me.I appreciate all the comments made so far,and please keep them coming.
  18. Hi,To give you an idea of my mileage,I have only covered 7940 miles in two and a half years,I have been suffering from poor health since I purchased my current Superb and that is why I have concerns about future Dpf problems.I really love my Superb and shall be sorry to see her go but hope a replacement combi will solve my problem and if I can average 35mpg then I would be happy with that as the difference in price between Diesel and Petrol will offset the difference in mpg.
  19. I am thinking of buying a new 1.8tsi dsg combi elegance,I currently have a 2.0 litre 140 dsg hatch, but because my mileage has dropped right off and concerns about the DPF problems that could occur in the future would like to know what sort of Mpg I could expect to get, appreciate any comments.
  20. We ll I am also on Nokia N8 and I get 6/8 messages a day from Vodaphone, have turned volume alert down to a minimum.
  21. As it appears that the only service provider that this problem arises with it must be obvious that the resolving of this lies with them,so VODAPHONE is the guilty party and I for one will be leaving them as soon as my contract expires.
  22. Hi,I read your post with interest, not that I understand where the columbus comes into it,but I too am with Vodaphone and am bombarded with exactly the same messages as you-upto half a dozen times a day.I have approached Vodaphone via one of their shops and they promised me that the messages would stop and they would put an iternet block on my account. It was all bull****,the messages kept coming fast and furious,so I wrote to customer complaints and I had a phone call back promising faithfully that the messages would stop, again bull****,fast and furious the messages kept coming,so I phoned again and once more they said the messages would stop, again bull**** and all because I don't want to access the internet on my phone-so I have given up and have turned messages on to low volume bleep, and as soon as my contract expires I shall be off like a shot.I hope this is of some help.
