  1. The fact that you can see a junction box in the photo suggests that the wires have been spliced in. Certainly the wiring I fitted just ran along the car and to the can bus behind the glove box. No physical contact with anything in the boot.
  2. I can't find the photos of when I fitted mine but it didn't look like that, far more 'bound' and generally less messy. In fact I think the only bit that was open wires was the very end that ran into the van-bus behind the glove box. There are some Google images of the dedicated kits.
  3. Well its certainly not a Westfalia electrics kit, I initially thought £150 for the wiring lone was steep but it was very well made. That was on my first scout, second one had a factory towbar. I agree that because virtually everything is hidden most people won't know what is fitted, which is quite scary, as I bet they often believe they have paid for the full bits.
  4. That's pretty amateur. And lazy because if memory serves me there is a thread to put it on anyway..... But regardless that looks more like bypass wiring, not a dedicated wiring kit.
  5. It's not looking positive with all these price rises, I'm on my second Octavia Scout lease and have extended this one for an extra 12 months as they went off order. The Superb Scout isn't coming to the UK immediately at any rate and the prices now look like the SE Tech being the only relaistice option. Hopefully the New Octavia will answer the questions for me
  6. Have you used the non usual key or selected a different driver when you got in by accident?
  7. Any cash cam wired in or charger plug in? Although they usually only upset DAB
  8. Yes all UK Scouts had it fitted, although I must say on my pre fl model it was hopeless, the new one is quite good. Does the winssreeb have a skoda logo in the near side front corner?
  9. On a very frosty morning don't forget to give LED lamps a wipe over, otherwise you spend the next 8 miles wondering why the headlights are a bit crap....
  10. Parents made a bank transfer and took ownership, it was a couple of weeks before the end of lease date as my new one arrived and they wanted it in a certain months figures. But they looked after me so I wasn't out of pocket. The payment went to BCA I believe. It was based on the final mileage, I think I'd gone about 1500 miles over, I had to pay the excess but it was never inspected so in theory I could have dubbed, but didn't. It's a very easy process
  11. No I could purchase, I was told by the dealer that they couldn't sell to the customer to due some tax rule. I suspect that isn't the case now as I was definitely offered the chance, however, it defeated the object for me. In terms of the price, I suspect as long as they cover the reserve they don't mind. They also save on the costs of BCA transportation and auction fees. I guess both parties win in different ways.
  12. My parents bought my previous Scout from VWFS directly. 2 yrs old, 17k miles and £13750. Well below market value at the time.
  13. It makes sense that your liable after the warranty period, unless you have a maintenance package. Hence why it's going at 3 years.
  14. Just thought this might interest some of you. I'm on my second Octavia Scout, both leased. The current one is due for return in June. It's on a 2 year, 10k pa contract. I'm currently paying £265 a month, higher than my first but had it right at the launch of the facelift and has a factory tow bar. Current there is nothing out there that I fancy more, this far does everything I want and need, it'll tow a 1400 kg caravan one day and do nearly 60 to the gallon on the motorway the next. So I enquired about extending the lease, an extra 12 months nd a further 10k miles. VWFS came back with an offer of £215 a month. I've signed up and looking forward to the next year with the car. It's a very simple and straightforward process!
  15. Mustnadmit there is a bit of pedantry here isn't there. I asked 18 months ago when I had the scout if I could request all season tyres but it wasn't possible. Are they automatically 16 inch?
  16. Had just the same with Vauxhall. Wife's Corsa has just had a gasket failure costing £550, albeit down from from £850. But she likes the car and so we wondered about swapping for a new one, the customer service woman was adamant they'd look after us, for our inconvenience and loyalty. It was bought new from them and serviced every year to maintain the lifetime warranty that didn't cover anything.... Anyway. Absolutely no movement on the price of a new one, point blank refused and poor trade in. Then we had the battle of add one, gap at 3 times the price etc, and a new one on me, dash cam. 300 notes for a £100 one in halfords. We walked. Over the following weeks we got continually pestered, including would you consider a different model, it has a heated steering wheel too. No thank you. They are now trying to sell us a 3 yr old courtesy car with more miles on than our trade in and it's been serviced by them from new, that doesn't inspire confidence. So yes, I would say a dealer is now more interested in clearing their yard at the back than helping the customer. Sad days
  17. Yes Mobex. Had it a couple of times now, both times sorted by Skoda Assist, once without argument and once when the dealer refused point blank to provide a car. That time was during heavy snow early this year and I reasoned that as I pay for a Scout I needed a 4x4, as well as needing it for work. I was provided with a Tiguan Sel within 3 hours via Thrifty
  18. My next lease will be diesel. I'm really not bothered by all the fuss. I doubt we're regressing 30 years rather than advancing at the minute
  19. They deduct it from your Direct Debit. So it came with no spare or tyre repair? That's quite unusual
  20. They allowed me to buy my Scout if I wanted last year. I'd already ordered a new one but my parents took the opportunity to replace an aging Discovery 2. They wanted £13750 for a 150 Scout at 2 years with 17.5k miles. We all thought that was a very good offer and for the price of a set of winter tyres it's done just as much as the disco did 4x4 wise at double the mpg.
  21. Hi all Occasionally my head unit has started to flash up 'Component Protection.' On start up. Has anyone else had this? Also DAB reception has seemingly dropped off a cliff over the last few weeks. It rarely picks up Radio X when it will find a local station. It always used to be perfect. As did my previous non fl amundsen unit. A soft reset hasn't done anything. I'm going to book it in but thought I'd ask here first.

  23. No the V5 is in the name of VWFS if thats who your lease is from. You will never see the V%, they are the registered keeper and the owner, you are merely hiring it from them. In terms of getting the plates made up, you can get them made up using the retention certificate prior to sending it to VWFS (they asked me for an email copy) but they do send you a document you can use to get them made up.
