  1. What about us V6 nutters - are we getting the 270PS unit and running gear from the Golf R???? Or do I finally have to grow up.....
  2. I've done just under 11,000 miles in mine since new and the average is 27.6mpg over the whole period - about a third of that is town driving and the rest longer motorway jorneys. Town driving with a light right foot is around 20-22mpg. Longer journeys on motorways at 80mph shows around 32mpg. Occasionally, with an open road and 10 mins of caning it, I can get below 8mpg :-)
  3. I use 3 phones that all connect perfectly and deliver SMS texts to the maxidot; 1 - Blackberry Curve 8520 2 - HTC HD2 3 - Nokia 6021
  4. I moved from a 535d to a Superb 3.6. I do miss the torque of the Diesel but the cars have identical pace, both being 0-60 in 6.5 secs. What I have gained is a fantastic ability to catapult the car out of junctions with no wheelspin, the ability to drive to the top of our road when my neighbours 530d is parked at the bottom in anything deeper than a dusting of snow and the ability to wipe the smirks off hot hatch drivers faces at traffic lights. (I've seen more than one mouth "WTF" as they shrink in my rear view mirror). Add in a built in 20GB iPod, SatNav that works, the ability to read SMS text messages in the dash (dangerous, but useful), fantastic DSG box (get the 3 spoke steering wheel with flappy paddles and play F1 driver) and options at prices that dont take the p**s. Sorry BMW, I priced up a new 535d with equivalent options and got as near to £50k as not to make a difference. £25k vs £50k is an easy decision....
  5. Great choice sadgit1 but I'd double check that hill hold - I found out that this cannot be fitted to the 3.6 DSG even though it was standard spec in the old brochure! I believe the new brochure has been amended - check with your Skoda dealer.
  6. Same problem with a Curve 8520 - and the same fix. I've found it also helps to have a spare SAP phone (an old Nokia 6210) to connect as this allows you access to delete phone profiles (you cant get to the required menu unless a phone is connected!!!)
  7. Not sure about this comment when looking at the link to Apple - this states my 64GB Ipod Touch is 3rd generation and I don't have any problems using MDI
  8. I asked my dealer to look into a whining noise on my V6 that only appears on light throttle in 2nd/3rd gear - he agrees he can hear it but has no other V6 to compare this against to see if it's normal!! He is referring it to Skoda UK to see if it's "normal". Can any other V6 owner help out - does yours whine?? Or, are there any other V6 owners in the East Mids that can get their car to Farmers in Nottingham for comparison?? Appreciate any help
  9. Had my V6 for 5 months now - I'm still smiling Economy on my 20 mile commute through town is around 22mpg, on a motorway run that goes up to 32mpg. Overall economy is 26mpg. The brake discs are I believe from the Passat R36 - they're very strong and need a light touch around town. The engine is as sweet as a nut - the best part of the car when combined with the 4 wheel drive and DSG box. Pulling out of junctions is like being in a catapult with no wheelspin even when wet. The best view is the shrinking faces of drivers behind in the rear view mirror when you floor it and see them mouth "******* hell" as you speed away
  10. Mine was model year 10 - MDI is in the jumbo box
  11. We have a growing list of compatible phones in another topic, so I thought I'd share some experiences and tips I've found that may help others....feel free to grow this list. - Ensure RSAP is activated in the phone!!! (if you are unsure how to do this as most phones don't come with a paper manual, the manual will either be on a supplied CD-ROM or you can get it from the phone manufacturers web site) - Have a spare phone (or two!) handy that connect OK (from friends?) to be able to load new profiles to "bounce" old ones out that are experiencing problems. Don't persist with a faulty profile! - If you are connecting with a smartphone, ensure that it is not doing anything else (email, web browsing, music playback) when the Columbus unit is trying to connect - on first connection, set the phone bluetooth to be "visible" or put it into "listen mode" to ensure the Columbus can see it (obvious :wonder: ) - once a connection is established, make this bluetooth connection "trusted" or select the option when asked "always trust this phone" or "don't ask again" to connect in future
  12. I don't need to be indicating for my cornering lights to come on.

  14. Didn't think the @rse on the saloon ever looked good - but it looks more finished with the spoiler
