  1. I have just had the same problem, Mine turned out to be 2 things, The steering column which had slight play and the track rods at the rack end. They have plastic bushes that wear and cause the rack to knock over bumps. The column was £320 + fitting and the track rods where £70 each plus fitting. The column knock I could have lived with. If you grab your front wheel and pull it hard front to back, do you get movement with a knock near the rack. this would be the track rods.
  2. Suppose I should be thankfull I wasn`t speeding! I was on the M1 Honest!
  3. I got bored driving to dover!
  4. Oh Yeah! Can anyone paint me a new pair of eyes, These are wearing off! Thanks.
  5. Apparently pads sometimes stick on and rub away very quickly, or so my skoda dealer tells me!
  6. Without sounding like a right berk, Where are the fuses on a tdi octy estate an a T? Please don`t tell anyone but I can`t find them.
  7. Ive had a 99T Octavia SLX TDI(110) for a year now, put quite a few miles on and the economy never fails to suprise. In france last year I got it to 71.8 mpg on a 20 mile journey. The fuel computer is I am told, very accurate and doesn`t tend to sugar coat the figures. I check mine now and again and it generally agrees with my calculations. The only real problem I have had to date is a faulty MAF which crippled the cars performance but now I have a new one and its better than ever!! Happy motoring!
  8. After market speakers where a pain in the rear to fit, because the door is not deep enough to take the magnet back on larger power speakers as I found to my perill!
  9. No, My dealer is a bit Rubbish, They insisted that I should have it tested and the conversation kinda` ended there. My fatherinlaw`s firm has in house mechanics for there company car fleet and one of the mechanics got it from an import dealer, but it was an exchange. Luckily cos they use them all the time I was allowed the part before returning mine!
  10. Judging by your poll, I am really out of fashion with 3, Anyone take one of me? Two seems to be where its at!
  11. M M AA FFFFF MM MM A A F M M M AAAA FFF M M A A F M M A A F `s are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Changed it today and the car is like its never been, Pulls right up to the red! Did I mention, I love MAF`s? Well I do, At least the oness that work!
  12. Had new tyres about 2k ago, The juddering has come since then but I can`t see any lost lead. Seems ok at speed too (when I get there, see my other thread). Skoda dealers act like its the first time they have heard of it!
  13. I have the same juddering discs 4k after replacment on my 98T SLX Octy. Is there a better brand of discs outh there or is the problem in the car?
  14. Yeah! done a bit of car maintainance in the past but it all seems a bit more daunting now, didn`t even know what a MAF was till last week. Keep the re-assuring messaged comming my way! Better still, how about you come my way equipped with a screwdriver?
