  1. Fabia 1.2---04 model, The passenger door will not unlock, helpful skoda dealer said "forget it mate looks expensive" Has any one come across this prob before? cheers.
  2. Thanks for your rapid response everyone, I am going to a independent Skoda dealers to have oil changed. Will report if it cured the problem. Cheers.
  3. Hi all, i have a 51 plate octavia 1.9 tdi auto. Whilst travelling at a steady 40 or 50 mph the engine surges , the rev clock moves prob 200 revs then drops back to normal, strange sensation, just feels like i am moving the throttle pedal, only seems to do it in 3rd or top gear. Anybody any ideas? Cheers.
  4. thank you for the very helpful pic mbames, will get that sorted. Will have to look at manual, no idea what a maxidot is.technology passed me by years ago.
  5. It appears in the window where the mpg figures etc appear.Just after it reads "fasten seat belt". Plus the temp gauge is reading erratically, one minute reading normally---them drops back to zero.. My camper used to do this,it was the temp sendor that was faulty, presume this is the same. Prob is ---finding the little blighters.
  6. Evening all, I have a 51 plate 1.9 tdi and on starting up I get a buzzer and and a message saying " oil sensor". Can any one tell me where this sensor lives and what it does? Is it easy to replace? Cheers.
  7. Does anyone know, can the Yeti be had with dsg .Tried emailing dealers but no replies. Cheers .
  8. Yep another daft question ,---how the dickens do you get the wiper blade to detach from the tacky plastic arm ---without smashing it ??? Plastic is the curse of the car industry---bring back tacky tin!!
  9. Might be a silly question but---how does the big black plastic cover which sits on top of the engine attach? I don't want to snap any daft little tabs off,----1200---12 valve . Bring back good old nuts and bolts! Cheers Stan.
  10. The new clutch plate takes up the load , it has a spring loaded centre spline. So instead of having a spring loaded flywheel you have a spring loaded clutch plate. All big trucks and cars used to use these before this "new idea DMF" arrived, never had any probs other than normal wear and tear. In fact a lot of trucks would rip the splines of the half shafts before doing any more trasmission damage.
  11. Just a thought---would it be possible to lift an ordinary octavia to the same height as a scout?--It would make getting in and out a lot easier (due to duff legs). Any thoughts on what would be required to do this?---or is it not possible? will be interested in your comments . Cheers Stan. :S
  12. Slightly different I know--but my VW t4 camper(1.9 TD) warms up in approx 1--2 miles, maybe because they are fitted with a thermostatically controlled radiater louvre as standard. But blows hot air as I say after approx 2 miles.
  13. I don't know if this is feasable but-----would the scout springs etc fit on a normal octavia?----I have duff legs and would find the extra height loads better for getting in and out. I would obviously need the springs ---but what else?? Cheers ---Stan. :S
  14. Magnificent response to my question about dsg boxes, thanks to all you chaps. You have put my mind at rest and I shall be buying an octi with the autobox, so again many thanks. Cheers ---Stan.
  15. Evening all, is there anyone running an octavia with a dsg box who can give me an honest opinion -----are they any good---and trouble free?? Due to medical probs I now find that i need an automatic, I prefer to stick to VAG products, having driven nothing else for the last 25 years. My wife has a bog standard Fabia and it really is a cracking little car, so I am looking to get an Octavia diesel estate but worried about adverse reports about DSG gearboxes. Any info will be much appreciated, ---will be looking at secondhand cars hence the trepidation. Cheers---Stan. :(
