  1. Seems like you got off lightly. My failure caused the engine to fry and looks like it will cost £6k+ with no goodwill from skoda. I wonder if the people on here who have had these EGR Problems should get together and go to a consumer watchdog somewhere to get skoda to pay attention?
  2. I haven't even asked the Skoda garage for a quote, I think I'm too scared to. I raised a call with Skoda UK yesterday and they said they'd come back to me within 24 hours so will update you all later.
  3. Car has been with dealership for last week taking apart engine and running diagnostics to trace fault. We have been told that the EGR valve failed, took water in and destroyed the engine. We are being told that because it was not serviced at a dealership then there is no goodwill. Next step is to contact Skoda UK ourselves. We have had the car from new. Top of range Yeti. This is a five year old car with 55,000miles that has been serviced exactly as described in the service manual with Skoda parts. Why should this one component cause such a catastrophic failure? I would have thought that the engine diagnostics would have put it into limp home mode rather than just blowing up. Does anyone have any advice or experience on how we best move this issue forward with Skoda UK.
  4. Hmm thinking about it, we only had the car serviced in December. Could it have something to do with that? I realise I'm grasping at straws here but we are looking at a pretty big bill.....
  5. The garage said they couldn't turn the engine and got another trusted guy they use to take it apart and it seems it needs the turbo the engine and probably the DPF replaced. Car has been serviced on an annual basis. 5 years old around 55000 miles. Was driving along in 3rd gear and accelerated, but then there was a shudder then it revved on its own right through the red line and then spewed white smoke out of the exhaust and stopped. Would not restart and was towed to garage. Told complete failure. any advice on where we go from here? We have had the car from new and it was well maintained and looked after. Gutted.
  6. Has anyone come accross a situation where the engine and DPF are knackered because of a turbo seize? I'm thinking this could end up being a VERY expensive problem and wanting to know if I'm the only poor sod its happened to....
  7. Well it appears I have an identical problem now. Any idea how much it's going to set me back anyone?
  8. Aha, we have a bit of competition about fuel type here do we? My choice was based on the fact I travel up n down the M6/M74 so the diesel was obvious BUT I wanted to be able to keep the 'Kevins' in their place. Nothing like you're typical mother in a big car at a set of lights to get them going hehehe. I know, I'm just childish but there are some things in life I just CAN'T resist

  10. Not got there *quite* yet.... but I'll go poking about now
  11. Got my Yeti last week, thought if I'm gonna get a 4x4 might as well get a decent one so I have the Elegance 2.0 TDi CR DPF 170 BHP, for the first few days in the snow I took it VERY easy cos I didn't want to damage it then Saturday evening I was picking someone up and wanted to sneak out in front of a car coming behind, tapped the pedal and whoosh!! Now I can't wait to get it out on the open road and see what she's REALLY capable of. Still, I can't wipe the smile off me face heheh. Mrs Balfy
