  1. I assume the Polo interior is a straight swap? Can anyone offer any other solutions? Can anyone recommend a re-trimmers on Yorkshire? I was thinking about having just the light grey parts of the interior changed but have no idea how much this might cost.
  2. Hi, I've had a good search of the forum and can't seem to find definitive answers, so hopefully I could get all this collected. The drivers seat on my fabia vRS is a mess. The bolster has worn through, and I can feel the metal bar in the seat, while the side of the backrest has worn right through and is the real let-down on the car. Can someone explain my options? I am lucky enough to live very near the seat surgeons but a £700 spend on a car thats probably worth £3.5k isn't really all that sensible - and I can't really afford it anyway. I occasionally see seats on ebay but they seem to be in very high demand and usually marked. Can anyone: - Recommend a re-trimmers in Yorkshire, Humberside, or Birmingham area? - Let me know which seats from the VAG group will fit inside the Fabia with minimum fettling? - Sell me their seats or seat covers?! Cheers!
  3. cheers pieman, its booked in so wish me luck!
  4. Damn... cleaning the car today I noticed white "tide mark" lines on the rear door cards. Had a feel and the bottom of the door card (the fabric covering of the bottom of the door) is wet. The mats are bone dry, as are the top of the carpets, but I peeled the carpet back slightly and there is definitely moisture under there. It seems like the first step is to do the door carrier seals, but I also noticed that the inside window seals are wet, and a bit mucky in the corners. You can press the glass near the bottom and see the window move a fair bit. So, I'm happy to either seal the carriers myself or pay someone else to do it.. but my questions are: How long does it take the moisture under the carpet to dry, do I need to do anything else to it to help it along? How much do the window seals cost to replace? Is there likely to be mould under the carpets? Will I have to replace them? Any recommendations on cleaning the door cards? Is an independent garage OK to replace seals etc or would I be better off going to the dealers? I called the local dealers (Martyn Beever York) today but it was quite late and the service dept were not available, expect to hear from them tomorrow. On the plus side, I have just put the mats in the washing machine and they have come up pretty well EDIT - I realise this isn't as bad as some cases reported and should add this was after pressure washing - the wettest area, the bottom of the doors, seemed a lot better tonight. Cheers all!
  5. Hello! I have recently decided to put a Sony head unit that I have from an old car in the fabia. I was going to get the autoleads fascia from ebay, but noticed this kit from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Skoda-Fabia-Stereo-Radio-Fascia-Facia-Plate-Lead-Keys_W0QQitemZ300387000363QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_FasciaPlates_SM?hash=item45f075e02b#ht_1592wt_1165 The keys and fascia come to a tenner anyway... but my question is do I need the rest of the wiring? I already have the ISO - Sony adapter kit from the old car and an aerial adapter (I don't think it is a power adapter, just an adapter to compensate for an N Reg Nissan's old wiring). And, if I used this adapter, do I still need to swap the power wires? Cheers guys. PS - Does anyone else have problems with Symphony Radio changing its volume by itself, or jumping the volume levels when you adjust it?!?!?
  6. got kept late at work in the end. To cut a long story short I forgot to reset the mile counter, and didn't note how many litres I had put in  dopey git. On the plus side, I have sussed what the difference between mpg calculator 1 and 2 is (I didn't realise the difference and was using 2), but cheers so far!
  7. Main journey is 11 miles twice a day averaging 40-50mph. all sounds decent advice to be honest. I'm due a trip to Leeds tomorrow evening (lucky me!) so I'll fill 'er up and work it out. Thanks for the advice on the panel filters - are they easy enough to clean/re-oil? Cheers
  8. My car was owned by a fella called shifty?!?!?!
  9. Coming from a petrol Renault, its pretty good... but 48 isn't 55! I guess after owning a Renault I just worry about every little thing that isn't perfect...
  10. Just thought as I would like a bit of help I should say hello! Got my black Fabia vRS in October, as a semi-practical car for impending father-hood, but still a bit of fun. Is doing the job so far. Live about 10 miles east of York, wave if you think you might see me!
  11. Firstly hello! Got my fabia vRS in October, and am loving it so far. Based in the York area, one of a few black ones I see about! One thing that bugs me a bit (other than keeping the interior clean) is the fuel economy. I hear of up to 60mpg, but on the overall mpg counter I can only ever get between 47-49mpg. Is this about right? I do see more like 70mpg when motorway driving on the instant mpg counter, but I have never seen 50mpg on the overall counter. Obviously, the cold weather is making things worse, but only by 1 mpg on the overall counter, if that. I am not a slow driver but not a hooligan by any means! I have checked tyre pressures and adjusted a touch as per the recommended settings but this didn't really help. The car has covered 62k, oil was changed by the seller (a suzuki garage) when I bought it but I don't think anything else was done. I have read about having the MAF changed but this seems a bit expensive for a maybe... and other people complaining about knacked MAFs seem to get 35mpg-ish. Will changing the airfilter help? And if so, will getting a sports panel filter help the economy or just make the car more responsive? Cheers!
