  1. Thanks, will pop down to your local outlet and check it out. If you can take the trouble to reply and help me out then I will prop your company up by a couple of quid. Seems only fair. Cheers, Andy
  2. Hi, I have a 1999 Felicia 1.3mpi 'Magic' hatchback and want to buy touch up paint but I am having trouble finding the paint code. I have looked under the boot carpet and there is a sticker but next to the space for paint code there is no code. The sticker in the boot refers to a 1.3 lx (guessing as this is a special edition the model it is based on is probably a lx) and this may be the reason for the absence of the paint code. I have also looked at the front in the engine bay but no other stickers can be found. The car is a dark blue/grey metallic and I am pretty sure it is the only colour the Magic was made in. I would be most grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. I have some nasty stone chips and an ugly key scratch which are begging for some attention, once I have the paint code I will set asode sme time and try to improve the car's looks. Cheers, Andy
  3. Hi, have a look on Ebay at these wheels off a Felicia (Magic special edition), try this ebay item number: 330421199768 Just a thought?
  4. I too had experienced poor mpg (around 29mpg mixed driving) until I replaced the thermostat which had definitely broken (Plastic lugs snapped off). I have just worked out my last tank full and have averaged 46.4mpg which is based on predominantly A road driving and trying to keep the revs in the green whilst building up speed. I am surprised and very happy with this for an 11 year old car that cost me £700 a couple of months ago! I also recently travelled a full tank doing motorway speeds and not really paying attention to the revs whilst getting up to speed and averaged 39.5mpg. My conclusion is that the thermostat has made a big difference, I have to admit that the ambient temperature has increased a few degrees but clearly the car is much happier operating at optimum temperature. All I have to do now is touch up the key scratch which decorates the car along the entire length and I will have a relaible and not too shabby looking car, the felicia is a winner as far as i am concerned! Andy
  5. I have just fitted one of those Mk2 thermostats and it has made a massive difference to the car. before replacing it was running cold and 'spluttered' as it warmed up. Now the temperature guage reaches the midway mark quickly and stays there. The original one was broken, one of the plastic lugs had snapped and the thermostat itself was rattling around inside the housing. Easy fix and makes such a difference, easy to fit with just 3 screws, not much coolant came out (about 1 litre) so not that messy either. Hope it works for you just as well. Cheers, Andy
  6. Hi, I have trawled the forums for information but need some help I think. I have a 1999 Felicia magic 1.3 MPI and it has a remote alarm fitted. I have an alarm fob with 2 buttons, one locks/unlocks the doors and the other seems to enable/disable the alarm. I would like to get a second remote fob but cannot see one anywhere. Ideally I would like to have a remote with the key built in but don't know which would suit my car. Does anyone have the same alarm fob (It is marked with the Skoda logo so looks original) and if so have they managed to source a replacement at all? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Have had the car for about 4 weeks now and it is going well, impressed by Skoda so far. Cheers, Andy
  7. Hi to all forum members, I have joined this forum as I have just bought a Skoda felicia as my second car, my wife drives the main family car (Renault Megane Scenic) and I have for the last 4 years ridden a Motorbike to and from work. The fact that my bike broke down (bust starter motor) coupled with the bad winter spell forced my hand and made me go out and buy the first cheap, reliable and practical car I could find. This turned out to be a Skoda Felicia Magic! I went to my nearest garage (about 800m from my house) and looked at what he had on the forecourt (in my price range - under £1,000), a 1997 Ford Ka with 90,000 miles and no power steering for £890, A 1994 Citroen ZX Deisel with LOTS of dents and LOTS of miles, for £500, a 1998 Renault Megane with 80,000 miles for £790 and pretty good spec and a 1999 Skoda Felicia Magic hatchback with 49,000 miles and in good condition for £790. I had a quick look at the cars, this was not easy as it was snowing and all cars were covered! I then went back home to check out the reviews online and within 30 minutes realised that the Skoda was the best car there and actually was a pretty good price. I had anticipated a long drawnout process where i would visit many garages and ponder for ages to decide what to spend my bank's money on! I went back to the garage and managed to get it for £700 with a 30 day warranty, service, 12 months MOT a dn 6 months tax. I am no expert but reckon I have not been ripped off. I have been delighted with the car from the word go! Poky 1.3 engine, good spec (alloys, elec windows, alarm, sunroof, remote central locking etc etc). I have read many posts on this forum and have come to the conclusion that older Skodas are MASSIVELY underrated and provide excellent vaue for money. I have washed, polished and cleaned the car, checked what works and what doesn't (only temp monitor gauge and elec window - both being repaired by dealer) and have enjoyed the ride. Hope to gain many tips from forum members and also hope the car delivers what most of you say!
