  1. I had the same - it felt like the rear door was bouncing back off the hinge. After a day at the dealers they decided it was aitflow. Leave any window only slightly open and it is fine. They even showed me exactly the same on 3 other new cars in the showroom. I have just learnt to shut it harder now. Must be pretty frustrating if you are a taxi driver.
  2. I have 7spd 1.8tsi since late 2009 and it is fantastic. No problems at all. Before that I had a 6spd DSG in an audi from 2005 to 2009. It was completely uneventful - as it should be. I don't think I would ever buy another non-DSG car. They feel so clumsy to drive now!
  3. I have a 1.8 tsi dsg and can tell you for sure that it comes without flappy paddles which are an extra. I had dsg and flappy paddles in my previous car and honestly don't miss the paddles but I guess this is a personal thing.
  4. Another vote for maxi-cosi, but this time the axiss. It swivels 90 degrees so you can 'load' and 'unload' with the nipper facing you. Our daughter was also a small 14 months when we put her in it but is adjusts well to suit. Only downside is that the straps are not as clever as the tobi. But it is great if you have a bad back or are short of room between the back and front seats.
  5. I have the 1.8 tsi dsg. I'm afraid I do not keep proper records to validate it, but the maxidot shows an average of 33mpg over the 3000 miles to date since new. I get nearly 40mpg on a roads and motorway at a steady 65 to 70mph and this drops right down to the low 30s at 80mph. Around town (london) it can be as low as 25mpg or as good as 30mpg depending on traffic. Over the 3000 miles I have done a roughly equal mix of both. Worth the fuel penalty in my view as it is very civilised and cheaper to buy - but accept it may not be as easy to sell in a few years time! Problem I had when buying was no dealer had a petrol demo. I took a risk in buying without trying but am very pleased. Only downside is more regular trips to the pumps as range is well below what I am used to from previous diesels.
  6. Hi. I have a 1.8 TSI DSG and find it had plenty of go for me. It replaced a 140 diesel A3 and I don't feel they are that different. One thing I have noticed about the superb is that it does not feel big to drive - certainly not versus other options I tried like the v70 or a6. I have the SE - plenty on it for me and as it is my own money the elegance was difficult to justify. I'd definetely suggest having a look at the se spec. Only downside is fuel consumption - I've done 2500 miles and only getting 33mpg - but a lot of that is around London. Will do 40mpg on a motorway run at 70mph. Hope this helps.
  7. Great tip. One of mine stopped working at the weekend. I used a bit of lemon juice and toothbrush and it is fine now.I'm in London so had been using very hard tap water. Car only 2 months old and scaled up already!
  8. Took delivery of my Superb saloon in December 2009 and, indeed, it does have a small fin and no aerial. Not colour coded though - sort of a very dark grey / almost black on a steel grey car.
  9. Thanks Bagpuss I'm not too handy with the screwdrivers - a bit like Blue Peter, I need adult supervision. I will let you know how I get on at the dealer.
  10. Hi all I have a late 2009 Superb SE ordered and delivered before the MDI was available as a factory fitted option - I notice it is now in the brochure. I think the MDI is what allows you to control and see the i-pod through the stereo. Does anybody know whether a dealer could retro-fit one of these. I think I am right in saying that without one of these I can only listen to my i-pod on the Bolero, and not see or control it. Bit thick about these things, so any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks. Great car by the way.
