  1. Cruise control is a nice function to have, especially those which have advanced adaptive technology, however, lane departure assist....well i'm sorry but should you really be driving if you require this feature?!!
  2. They will most likely feel quicker than that in reality too! The worrying bit now is my local cabby driver may well be catching up with my performance!! I always drive my cars hard, I thrashed the pants off my Octy 2.0TDi Mk2 for 2.5 years, putting 70k on the clock taking it to 125k and it just came back wanting more! Thrash the pants of my current car (2011 Merc C Class) and all i see is ££££ signs lol
  3. They have released the performance figures for the Standard 2.0 TDi 150bhp engine, showing 0-60mph in 8 seconds. That is marginally better than the current 2.0TDi 170bhp VRS! So they must have a 180bhp VRS in the pipeline with approx 0-60mph of 7secs? Petrol VRS is going to be up with the big boys if this is the case! Watch out current diesel VRS owners, me and my new Elegance Octy will be passing you!!
  4. Hi, I have read through most posts on here and it has been rather amusing! I would like to throw my 2 pennies worth in! So last December i reluctantly traded my '05 Octavia 2.0TDi PD in (@121k miles) for a brand new sparkling Mercedes C class 220 CDI Sport. Now The Octavia was the newest car i'd ever owned, so going to something completely brand new was rather exciting. I paid £35,000 for my new Merc. I have now done 17k miles in my c class and I can honestly say I want my octavia back! Don't get me wrong I love all the gadgets, the performance is excellent and the looks are head-turning but it isn't my trusty old reliable smokey octavia. So i guess what i'm trying to say is, underneath that badge, beyond the uncool looks and inside that cavernous cabin is a superb car for not a lot of money! I think the likes of BMW / Audi and Mercedes are all over-priced and over-rated. I have had better service from Skoda garage than Mercedes and I have already had several faults with my car (luckily under warranty and fixed for nothing) but it doesnt have that fun factor about it like my old Octavia did. Sorry but BMW doesn't do it for me (I tend to find most are **** drivers!) lol L.
  5. 115k on '05 plate, not skipped a beat. My original plan was to own this car til the death to allow me time to save and save for something outrageously fast, executive and expensive, however the rate its going i'll be dead before the car!!!
  6. Hi, I can't give you complete accurate anecdotal evidence as I do not own a Yeti 1.2TSI nor do I own a 'new' car, however in the time that I have owned my 0'5 plate Octavia 2.0TDI the clutch biting point has pretty much not moved at all, bought it at 64k now on 115k. The clutch in octavia is a hydraulic single dry disc clutch, seems to be fairly solid, not sure if same used in your car but if it, i wouldn't get too hung up on biting point!! Liam.
  7. Can I just ask why you have ordered a brand new one? The moment you drive it off the forecourt it will lose a good few thousand in value! There are plenty of '11' plated ones with plenty of optional extras added, possibly saving you £2-3,000 and still same offers apply!....On the plus side, you certainly won't be disappointed, I am pleased with the performance of my standard 2.0TDI 140bhp octavia, surprises most, so VRS tdi will be a blast Happy motoring
  8. Hi, I have an '05 plate Octavia Elegance + extra's, bought it 2 years and 2 months ago for £7,000 on 64k miles. I'm now on 115k miles and the only major thing that I have had to replace was the Turbo. The variable vain was sticking and causing the turbo to cut out, driving without it really isn't that fun, however once i turned ignition off and on it reset it and worked again for a while then would cut out again. Although it was driveable if i drove very sensibly i wasnt happy that it wasnt fully functional so got Skoda garage to look at it. This is when they diagnosed problem and said they did not have the expertise to repair turbo and would be cheaper to just replace unit. I got the work done all in for £1150, with a 2 year guarantee (turbo replaced f.o.c if faults within 2 years). Other than this it has just been the general wear and tear. I have the car serviced on the dot by the skoda garage. I do roughly 25-30,000 miles a year and so far I cannot fault the car. Exceptional road holding, performance surprises many and has got me through the worst winter yet with no troubles at all! People often laugh at me for owning a skoda, making the odd joke, but they soon change their tune when they get in it and realise that it's a little like a giant cockcroach....able to withstand a nuclear blast Hope this helps, Liam.
  9. I once had an issue with this light coming on! I stupidly stalled it in 3rd (going too slow for that gear) and it conked out and the light came on. When i restarted her it stayed on for a while and eventually turned off, did not notice any difference in steering ability. Since then it's never really came on and nothing has appeared! Have had it health checked twice since and no fault has been found either. If your light is continually coming up then take it to garage for further investigation, if your light doesn't come up anymore i wouldnt worry!!
  10. i have a Octy 2.0TDI with michelin primacy hp's on (all year round tyres) and drove in the snow every single day, only have one problem of getting stuck when i parked on a grass verge and couldnt get off it! On the roads though, not too many issues, slow progressive turning and acceleration was key, I made the big mistake of turning too quickly and she slid slightly...but drive sensibly and you should be fine!
