  1. Thanks i will try that. You can hear noise even when the car is idling. Im convinced it could be exhaust related. Or rather the exhaust vibrations are resonating another component somewhere
  2. Hi all, my 02 octy vrs has a strange creaking noise coming from the front suspension area, its most noticable under acceleration up to 40mph, occasionally when over rough roads and sometimes when turning. Had skoda garage check car out and they said possibly the arb as it looked rusty. Now i did change fhe bushes 2 years ago and got rid of the plastic sleeves for the arb mod. You can definatley hear a creak when closing the drivers door harder than normal. Its def not a broken spring or drop link related. Can anyone confirm whether the garage's diagnosis could be right? Or give any clues to what else it could be? Its proving difficult to diagnose the fault. Dan
  3. Cheers thanks, I did come across a site called ignition car parts on the web, with skoda engine parts, with a Bosch throttle body for £270 Inc vat. I know the skoda dealer in clacton quoted about 450 for one!
  4. Hi does anyone know the part no. For a octavia vrs mk1 throttle body and if the original skoda part is made by Bosch? Thanks
  5. Hi all I have just fitted a kenwood double stereo, which is superb. Installed a aerial amplifier for headunit and I have been Reading about the k line thing. From what I gather it's a diagnostics thing for the original skoda symphony headunit. Would anyone be able to shed some light on what the k line is about? The wiring harness supplied with the kenwood doesn't have any wires for pins 1,2 and 3. Ross tech article showed that k line was pin 3 on black connector. As there is no wire on the harness supplied by kenwood I'm guessing all is fine, as I read somewhere u had to make sure nothing was connected to it, I,e by taking pin 3 out etc... Many thanks Daniel
  6. 5-30 fully synthetic is usually variable service. When u get it serviced use a good 5-30 fully synthetic and get them to reset it to variable
  7. Hi I used a 5-30 castrol edge oil on mine, it's on the variable service, I think if it's on fixed service the oil spec can vary from 0-40 to 10-40. I think the oil has to meet vw spec 504 now for variable or 502 for fixed
  8. My drivers side indicator had moisture on the inside, when I washed mh car today it filled up about 1/2 inch of water. Went to take it out and the glass fell off! Well in the end I stuck it back together with araldite, as I'm driving up to Derbyshire tomorrow, need it stay on lol.
  9. Hi does anyone know why my cd changer sometimes skips when playing CDs, I thought there mite be some dust inside or something. Also after putting the changer magazine in the slot the display says CHK MAGAZINE. Nothing in the manual says anything about it
  10. Thanks for all the help, the main thing was at least having the vac hoses replaced as they were split so that would of caused a power loss. I can live with leaving it to idle for a minute, but as I havnt driven the car that much as I'm working away it's hard to diagnose the problem. Certainly will check air filter, spark plugs, coil packs and sec air pump.
  11. Well I'm gona look into it and see if I can solve it. Like I said my dad has a vrs and his is fine. Just had two vac hoses replaced as it was loosing power. Just hope I still don't lose power again. Just rather annoying really lol
  12. Would replacing the rivets on the secondary air pump fix the cold start idle problem? I have access to a ramp as my dad works at kwik fit. Is it because the secondary air pump is allowing extra air in causing unmetered air into the system?
  13. Does anyone know what could be causing the cold start stuttering on my car. Apart from the secondary air pump I'm looking for clues to what it could be. Has anyone cured a similar problem like mine on there own vrs?
  14. Alot of other threads seem to point to secondary air system, so I might check that out. I've had 2 vacuum hoses replaced by skoda dealer. Trouble is there is no fault codes come up on EMS
  15. Well zoe, my dad done my starter. Had two vac hoses replaced. One was on manifold and other was engine breather pipe. Me and my dad are gona have a look at secondary air pump. I think that may be causing it, as I left it to idle for a minute on Monday before going to work and it drove fine. Shame I'm working away as I would test it everyday
