  1. It's better than being a car, apparently. My link
  2. A good write up from Car of their long termer. My link
  3. Seems Skoda have taken the lead from Nissan in looking after customers with longer than expected waits for their cars. Interesting what the Head of Skoda says too about the reason for the long waits. My link
  4. Yeti is trending world wide on Twitter, which is a big thing for those not conversant in Twitter. Just goes to prove all those naysayers about Clarkson wrong- like him or loathe him, he is a very accomplished road tester and knows his cars. As others have said, as an 'early adopter', feeling quite smug at the moment.

  6. A Bugaboo Cameleon ( a fantastic buy, but that's another topic!) does fit if you take the seat off, though there is not much room for too much else. We have a Mclaren stroller as well that lives in the car permaneteley and this fits really well lengthways across the car. It fits nicley bewteen the wheel arches and is out of the way. I do not have the spare tyre. Hope that helps
  7. Just saw that Skoda are a major sponsor of the Bike Show which runs over next weekend (13th to 16th) at Excel, in Docklands London. They will also be offering off road test drives in Yeti's! My link It is great to see Skoda putting their weight behind cycling in such a way. As I've noted before, the Yeti has to be ultimate bike transport.
  8. I have done 5,000 miles in my 1.2 DSG and it is a great engine, and I rate it highly(and I come from a background of Audi/BMW). I have never found it wanting and it is a very good long distance motorway cruiser- extremely refined and, certainly with the DSG, seems sufficently torquey that fast motrway driving is never a chore. I'd have no qualms about long term durability- I'm sure VW have done their homework and it will last. The engine does take a while to become loose- and in the early days the fuel consumption when driving at motorway speeds was poor, though this has got better and now at 70 mph it does 40-42 mpg, which is fine by me. Go beyond 70 mph though, and it does start to get more thirsty however. If I had a choice again bewteen the 1.2 and the 1.4, I'd still go for the 1.2. I can't think of any area where a 1.4 would make the car any better.
  9. Another month, another huge thumbs up for Car magazines long term 110bhp diesel. They've taken all long term cars to Wales, for a comparison- and the Yeti they say is the best of them all. 'solid, roomy, comfy and unexpectedly entertaining, it's one of the very best cars on sale today' they conclude. The article is well worth a read, in a generally very good magazine.
  10. Another slant on the debate- given you will be transporting your young family, maybe the respective saftey ratings of Octi and Yeti should be compared. Who has the most airbags, highest NCAP ratings etc. I think the Yeti is much better than Octy on a lot of fronts. And how often do you really need the extra load space of the Octy anyway? Maybe a worthwhile sacrifice for knowing that your family is as safe as possible in the event of an accident.
  11. Umm- for anyone who lives in a city or town, it actually is a pretty big deal. Low level pollution is a big factor for asthma sufferers and peoples health in general. There are some pretty nasty things that come out of tail pipes.
  12. Macdemon- I assume you have some scientific credentials or research that you have personally done, to refute the claims in the article then? You seem to know better.
  13. Mine disconnects in the middle of long drives. Seems to be around the two hour mark.
  14. Well, I couldn't see mention of this in there in my cursory look through the handbook, and to be honest I've got better things to do than trawl through the maze that is the user manual trying to find out the answer to something so trival. Instead I thought I'd reach out to the friendly (or not, it seems in your case!) Briskodians. Sorry if that causes you irritation.
  15. In the jumbo box, there is a strange plastic handle that you can pull up and down, just near the MP3 jack. Anyone any idea what it does? I'm assuming it is switch to make the box cooled from the air con, maybe?
