  1. hi if you do your own repairs and are ok with it check for external leaks are you loosing fluid?? I would go for a new cylinder.
  2. HI Dos the pedel creep to the floor with and with out the engine running?? If it does its most likely to be the master cylinder. A fault servo circuit would result in a rock hard pedel with reduced braking effort. Chris K
  3. Hi Guys The outer boot is an MOT fail but the inner joint and boot is not just a pass and advise. Some times the cv joint is stuck fast on the splines and you need the vag tool push it out dont go whacking it with a big hammer when you have the nut off or you will be buying a new joint as well. I have changed them from the back by unbolting the shaft off the box and tapping the shaft out of the CV. Cheers guys Chris K
  4. Hi guys To save your self smacking F--k out of your wheels and marking them Loosen all the wheel bolts a few turns drive it round in a tight circle right then left ""IN A SAFE PLACE NOT ROUND A MOTOR WAY ISLAND LOL" and the will come loose off the hub. Clean the wheel and the hub and coat in copper slip job done. Hope this helps Chris K
  5. Hi Guys I use a mobile tyre fitter all the time at my workshop. He has all the top kit in his truck gets all the tyres from budget to top end. Just ask around your area. Chris K
  6. Hi Nice looking mota mate does it have a DSG box ?? Keep out of Ikea & tesco + all other places like that dont want a dint in her. Chris K
  7. Hi Do you do your own repairs ?? As stated in a previous post take a look and see how bad your engine is. Take out the air filter box to give you some room get a good bright lead light and look at the front and back of the block for a hole or a crack first. If you dont see any thig obvious then set to and whip off the cylinder head thats where your main damage will be. Hope this helps Chris K
  8. Hi Mike Cheers mate only latex workshop gloves sorry ""LOL"" Chris K
  9. Hi guys The problem is using to much screen wash it goes like a big snott ball in the bottom of the bottle & stinks after a while. I get it all the while in the workshop. Take the bottle out aand give it a good clean with fairy and hot water, and dont use to much screen wash. I have been using some premixed stuff with good results. Chris K
  10. Hi Guys Your posts make very interesting reading. I cant see why VOSA would take any interest in your letter with VAG injectors failing. ""crap ball joints & track rod end's then you might get a result"" Being an mot station and garage owner for the past 30 years what has this problem have to do with road safty??? Engine Parts fail all the time while driving without warning from alternator drive belts, cam belts, diesel vacuum pumps, which result in loss of power steering or servo assistance of the brakes they still work but not as well. I will keep reading with interest. Chris K
  11. HI Just change the filter The plastic top torque 25Nm max No need to wind it down to the max the seal on the side does all the work not the flange on the cap. Chris K
  12. HI Did you clear all the fault codes after that print out you posted??? Did any of them come back stright away. Lots of fault codes come up with people unpluging stuff with the ign on or while the engine is running. Chris K
  13. HI get the oil level checked. You do need a diagnostic system but only to check the temp of the oil for the level but the toping up is a tw--t of a job but can be done with out the proper tool. If you have breakdown cover just use it over the weekend As the Irish say feck it LOL Chris K
  14. HI I take it the oil warning light goes out???? If you have driven it for some miles making that noise and the bottom end has not gone bang you must have some oil presure. Maybe crap oil and not regular servicing before you had the mota run on the cheep. If you do ya own stuff drain off the oil and get the sump off and take a look at the pickup in the sump, I would recommend not driving it in that condition give your self a sporting chance to keep the damage to a minimum. Chris K.
  15. Hi. Glad you got sorted with not much cost to you Chris K
  16. Hi Put two hose clamps on the front hoses as close to the end where the main steel brake pipe enters Then try your brake pedel again to see if it feels harder and better if it does then get a friend to unclip the clamps one at a time with your foot on the brake and see if the pedel drops where you might have air trapped. If you have done the rears try the same but I think the rears have braded hoses which then you cant try that method Chris K
  17. Hi ABS warning light is a fail thats about all in that area Chris K
  18. Hi Have you tried your local TPS There price might be cheeper Chris K
  19. Hi Guys I find this very interesting reading at the prices that get quoted for repairs by dealers and the **** jobs i have seen them turn out. I have been in the motor trade since 1971 in our family business and I still get surprised to this day by quotes and labour rates for repairs. I still mentain that the job is only as good as the mechanic who is carring out your repair main dealer or family village garage like ours. Hope you get sorted out with your service and cam belt at a good fair price Chris K
  20. Hi I have a Mk3 Golf GTi and it has had an alarm fitted at one time and now removed not by me. Tried to connect VCDS but with no luck the reason why that the junction on top of the fuse box as been all unpluged and the wires from the socket are not connected. Has anybody been up there and know where the other wires come from so I can re-connect the ssocket to the car. Thank you Chris K
  21. HI I had a 05 VW Transporter last week for service when i reset the service indicator It did not give me the drop down list to change any of the data. I e-maild ross-tech and they want aa scan on the system to see why that was. I will post the outcome if any one is interested????? Chris K

  23. Hello. Have you taken your car to a deraler to be repaired or your local garage that you use all the time?? If not a dealer as them if they remove the pump you take it to a specialised diesel shop and get it tested on a diesel test rig first. And if is knackered get them to mend it and the garage to refit it for you. Then YOU will know the pump is U.S. before you start. From my time in the motor trade dianostics are not 100 per sent at finding mechanicle faults. Chris K
