I can't find any recent threads on this...so fingers crossed someone can advise!
I go on a European 1,500 mile roadtrip at the end of next week...but my 2019 Superb (Hatch, Petrol 1.5 DSG, 40k miles, FSH) has other ideas. I have an ongoing central locking fault, where the car locks and unlocks itself at 10 mph (rather than the usual behaviour of locking at 10mph and staying locked) and other glitches, like the interior locking button no longer working. Not sure if this is related to the major problem...
Last weekend, it suddenly sprung an EPC fault, followed by "Start/Stop fault" followed by going into limp mode. I tried to get into a main dealer, but they can't look at it for over two weeks. There are three lights on...EPC, engine management and a yellow exclamation mark below the display.
I took it to an independent and whilst they found a permanent error on the central locking motor - something shorting to ground (they suggest may have to work on the door card), there was nothing permanent associated with the EPC fault. The fault with the locking cleared and so far is working OK including the button. They cleared the EPC fault and all was well for about 15 miles, but then the fault returned.
It is going back to the garage tomorrow and they are stripping down to look at the manifold which they suggest may be cracked (it's made of plastic, they tell me). My MOT is also due prior to a week on Friday and holiday. I am so stressed that our holiday isn't going to happen (I'm kind of glad the fault developed before we left though).
They tell me that getting to the manifold is a serious task and it is going to be expensive, especially if it needs replacing (as only available from dealer?). Anything I should be wary of or suggest that they might look at first?
