  1. Daughter has just got a 2015 Fabia 1.0 SE. When she first starts the car she gets the warning triangle and a 'Check Rear Tail light' Message but it appears to be fine, and doesn't display on subsequent starts. Anyone had anything similar? Could it be a bad earth to the light cluster?
  2. Hi all, looking at a 2015 SE but just been told that the touchscreen has just gone Unresponsive to some touches from cold - was working fine. There’s a lot of threads on this but I’m getting confused to the latest info on the fix. Is it as simple as a firmware update - if so where can I get the file? Or does it need a replacement head unit too.... thanks
  3. ‘Dealer’ - comes with 30 day warranty. Guy mainly deals with fixing up salvage cars, took this in on a reluctant part ex
  4. It drove nicely enough. I had hoped there would be some receipts from independents but alas no! Its at a good price though..... any thoughts on the headlamps? Look to be about £90 each for replacements
  5. I’m looking at a 2015 1.0 Fabia for my daughter. It’s done 66000 miles, but has only been serviced at 20000 and 59000. How sensitive are these engines to fresh oil - should I be worried? (I know it’s due a cambelt) Also, the headlamps are slightly fogged with moisture - is this common or should I just run away?
  6. Hi all, My 2010 CR VRs went into limp home mode under load. At first the flashing glow plug light, which cleared after the ignition was turned off, but the car still felt sluggish, and then the locked in limp home mode. I read the codes with Carista and it is P0299 Under boost. I checked all the pipes etc. for leaks to no avail but after reading a post somewhere on the Mr Muscle thread, I removed the rubber pipe from the N75 to the actuator and sucked. My understanding is that the actuator should hold pressure and if you suck you should feel resistance, and be able to block the pipe and feel residual suction. I had none of this - it was easy to suck. Am I right in my assumption that the vacuum on the actuator is knackered and a new actuator should cure things? thanks
  7. Thanks - just the rear coil spring and front tyres to sort then
  8. I looked through the fuse list but couldn't work out which one it was!!!! Any ideas please?
  9. Hi, my 2010 FL VRS has just failed its MOT on 'both front position lights' failed. I removed one headlight, removed the rubber cover ('B' in the car handbook) and found a blown bulb which I replaced. However, with the light switch at the 'sidelight' position, i.e. the middle switch position, the DRLs dim but no other lights come on. At the second position, the dipped main beams come on (the light build that I replaced) I have looked at both 'park light' bulbs - the deeply recessed ones - and they look fine, but don't switch on in any circumstances..... Suggestions?
  10. We currently drive a 2010 FL vRS estate TDi. Lots of things we love about the car, but a couple of dislikes. 1. Grip, especially in the snow. I've never driven a car with less front end grip! And yes, I know a set on winter tyres would cure it, but I already have a set for my BMW taking up garage space... 2. Road noise - the car is pretty refined but the road/tyre roar gets really tiresome (!) on a long journey. Hopefully a 4x4 vRS would have better grip in the snow, at least under acceleration has anyone tried one? Is it any less noisy than the Mk2 FL? Would love to hear from anyone that has driven one!!
  11. The possibility is raised in the VW release: * What is the problem on the affected vehicles? The function and safety of the vehicle are not impaired. The nitrogen oxide emissions levels do not meet the regulatory requirements for registering the vehicle under the Euro 5 standard when the vehicle is driven under normal conditions. * What is the cause of the fault? Incorrect exhaust gas values are measured in test mode due to the engine control unit software. * What effect does this situation have? The operation of the vehicle is not impaired; the vehicle can be used as usual without restrictions. The nitrogen oxide emissions levels do not meet the regulatory requirements for registering the vehicle under the Euro 5 standard. * Is the safety of the vehicle impaired? No. * Which vehicles are affected by the fault? As the CR 170 is the most powerful engine affected, I think, it seems logical that it will have most difficulty with any emissions tests.
  12. Apologies to those on here who disagree with the 'pointless' speculation..... I understood that the difference between a CR140 diesel and a CR170 was merely software (feel free to put me right). If the 140 is a little down on power in 'test' mode, presumably the 170 has to go down to the same values I.e. 30+ BHP? The only way I can see them making the 170 'legal' if that is true, would be to bolt on an Adblue system - what effect would that have?
  13. The plot thickens..... No recall shown for my 2010 vRS 170CR Diesel.........yet! My thoughts are that whilst all affected cars may have the cheat map installed, it may only activate for the U.S. Tests. The European fix may be as simple as removing the offending code with no effect on the performance. As for the U.S., they may need Adblue modifications. My thinking - it you divide the money VW has put aside, by the number of affected cars, it only comes to £47 per car... However, this makes very interesting watching... (Note the badge on the cam cover) (1:19 onwards if you want to skip to it!)
  14. I tested a Seat Exeo before I tested a VRs estate. I found the Seat cramped and dark inside with very little storage space. The ride was also very harsh. I stepped into the VRs and it was a thousand times smoother and handled much better - the Seat understeers lots with all that weight out front (longitudinal engine!). For me it was a no brainer - especially with the VAT free deal at the time! VERY happy with VRs - just can't get the keys away from my wife!!!
