  1. Guys, one thing i have noticed is the lack for decent owners forums for Smart cars. Don't worry, i will still drop in now and then to see what is going on in the Skoda world ;-)
  2. But the new tax laws only affect new cars not existing & used cars???? So if you were going to replace the Citigo with a NEW car it would be relevant but you haven't so I struggle to see how this has affected your decision to swap now???? Yes, the plan was to replace with the new shape when it would be out, but due to the new taxation laws means it won't benefit with the current low road tax. And the three things you mention in point four were all sorted with the MY16 car that was launched in 2015. Glad to hear it. Even though I did add my own string boot light to our Citigo.
  3. Fair point, i shouldn't compare the Citigo and the Smart, instead a higher spec Up is a better comparison. But from a price point of view you would be surprised. We only paid £1500 more for a 6mth old Smart White Edition than we paid for a new Citigo Elegance ASG.
  4. We have finally sold our 2014 Citigo. SWMBO wanted a change and with the new tax laws changing soon we decided to swap it for 6mth old Smart ForFour 0.9 EDC (Auto). As a lifelong fan of cars from VAG, the current Citigo was our 7th car from the group of cars. We enjoyed the Citigo and was a perfect for the 2.5 years we owned it for. To make it even more special was the wealth of information provided by the great guys n gals on this forum. You have provided a wealth of information on everything about the Citigo and also when i had my Octavia vRS. I'd also like to share my views on the current Citigo and why we decided to move manufacturer. As a city car it is perfect but some of the elements need a refresh and below is a list: 1) The current ASG gearbox is awful and paired with the current engine is lackluster. I know the new UP will have a TSI engine but i think this will only come with a manual and the ASG will only be available with the std 75bhp non-turbo engine. This was the main factor for us to go for a Smart. The 0.9T 90bhp with a dual clutch gearbox is awesome. The wife enjoys it in normal drive mode and i get to put it in sport mode and use the paddle shift! Also, I'll be looking at getting it remapped once the warranty expires and have been quoted £300 for a 20bhp increase, which will match the Brabus edition. 2) The turning circle on the Citigo is not ideal for a city car, you'd be amazed on the turning circle on the Smart, allegedly it is better than a London taxi. But this is achieved because the engine is in the rear which means the boot isn't spacious as the Citigo ;-( 3) The current Stereo and Satnav need replacing, i know the new UP has a new stereo and it is now using the phone as a Satnav, hopefully this will filter down to the Citigo. The TomTom stereo on the Smart if far superior and better to use. 4) Other small annoying things like: single electric window button on the drivers side, no boot light and no string on the parcel shelf. Hopefully these too get sorted on the new model. Hopefully the main thing i hope VAG sort out is installing a DSG with a TSI engine, trust me that would make the car far superior to the other cars in this sector and the main reason for us to leave. Finally like to say thank you for all the years of advice provided on here for the two Skoda's we have owned. I will still pop in now and then to see what is going on. All the best over and out!
  5. The CitiJet is going to be making an appearance at Goodwood FoS this weekend. This pic was on Skoda's twitter page... Also some more info here too.. http://www.fueled.ie/skoda-cityjet-concept/
  6. In terms of reception - it is pretty good around most of West Yorkshire as I have one standard on my Passat. I too will be looking at one to put into our Citigo and have been considering one of these... http://www.pure.com/product/highway-300di-vl-61716
  7. Thx Owens. I'll order one soon and give it a go. By doing this do you think it should make it a little brighter in the back?
  8. I've recently upgraded the interior light with a LED Festoon bulb and its nice and bright in the front of the car but I noticed it is still quite dark in the back and especially with the high headrest of the front seat doesn't help. Any suggestions? Do I upgrade to one of these - 3B0947105C and if so how easy is it to install? Cheers.
  9. I know on my wife's Citigo with it being an ASG Auto I need to turn the key so the dials light up then put my foot on the brake, put it in neutral and then start it. If I do all of the above quickly then it won't start. Just something to we have got used to. Not sure if this the case with the manual gearboxes?
  10. Ordered a spare set. Not bad for £11.84.
  11. First of all apologies as this is related to a non Skoda car but I posted this other VW forums and hadn't ay responses so I try u go guys (as Skoda owners tend to be more informative ). Looking at replacing a RNS315 on a 2013 VW Passat B7 with reverse camera, DAB and MDI with a RNS510 model P and wandering if all the above add ons will carry on working? Any help appreciated. Thx.
  12. Looks nice especially in the sun! Now the hard bit, keeping it clean!
  13. Nice. I bought one of these off ebay... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271434702568?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 It's a nice snug fit and not bad for £2.50 inc P&P.
  14. For the five wheels I ended up using 3 cans of Dip and 1 can of Gloss
  15. The total order came to £90 including the spray gun. The before picture is available on this thread... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/312084-just-got-home-with-a-new-member-of-our-family/
