  1. I used this on my 2008 Skoda Octavia 1.8Tsi but have now p/x the car, the map is still on the bluefin. If you have the Octavia 1.8 Tsi you could try right away However just to be sure you could contact superchips ltd and enquire with them as to how you get it remapped for "your" vehicle, There may be a small cost to do this Included is the dvd inside and an instruction manual that explains everything. Its really dead easy to apply to your car the performance increase claimed extra 50bhp Acceleration from 30-70 was devastating Fuel economy slightly improved too! A great review of the remap can be found on this site by a member called Brad1.8T The unit cost me over £300 so grab yourself a bargain. £100
  2. Sadly due to the negative press regarding the "Timing chain tensioner" problems I decided not to sell her and to accept a part ex by a BMW dealers against a mint BMW 328i I will miss the old girl... NEVER missed a beat in 42 months
  3. IMHO Most people assume diesel is infinitely cheaper.... more mpg, lower tax..... without doing the maths for their partcular case A mate bought a derv, despite living 4 miles from work! I remember the looks of disgust I got when I bought my Octavia 1.8 TSI.... "You bought a petrol"?? Despite the awful and unjust issue of the so called tensioner failure all VAG chain cam cars are now to be avoided at all costs it seems Whatever makes you happy I guess... I love squeezing the last drop out of my Octy and have seen 50mpg on a few runs all from a 160 petrol engine Mines actually more like 200 + BHP with a remap If you read too many negative stories you would never fly or eat red meat I guess Alcohol is bad... one minute its good for you Just enjoy, do what you want and to hell with it lol
  4. Not a VRS but a 58 reg 1.8 Tsi with 113K Bluefin remap for the last 2 years
  5. Car will be available in a couple of weeks Got to take my private plate off
  6. I do mine every 6K...Taking no chances with this engine and the timing chain £150 a year for 2 oil changes is a small price to pay
  7. Guys... sorry for no replies ... no idea why I did not get any emails from the site?? Im based in Burnley and Rochdale Car is 6 speed manual Will be available in early September
  8. First refusal on here if anyone is thinking of buying one of these superb cars The Octavia 1.8 TSI is a corking version with a standard 160bhp and easily 40+ mpg Mine has the bluefin remap and is probably 200bhp and pulls like a train A real wolf in sheeps clothing Finished in Brilliant silver metallic with a few extras (Sunroof, welcome home lights) Well maintained with service great history September 58 reg with all mots and manual pack currently 110,000 miles on the clock It is a cliché but she really does drive like a new car! Message me with any interest before she goes on eBay Would rather sell to enthusiast than part ex Genuine Offers over £2K invited
  9. Well I count myself fortunate then...I have changed the oil every 5k or so since I had her , that is 9 oil changes in total the past 3 and half years I have driven many cars and nothing pulls like this one and even better with the bluefin remap! I guess the value of a 6 year old car with 111,000 miles on the clock is not worth it
  10. If there is a design fault with the tensioner... how come they are ALL not all failing? Surely must be something else that contributes
  11. IMHO get a paper one... K&N are 6 times the cost of a paper one and unless you keep your car 6 years what`s the point?
  12. Ahhh the humble oil change... How do any of us know what "they" put in? You just accept they use the right stuff, they certainly charge you for it! Do main dealers put the right stuff in?? It makes you wonder!
  13. Blimey 60,000 miles per air filter?? I used to be a "K&N" er.... but what is the point as they cost so damn much As expected there is no difference, perhaps just a little glow inside me knowing its done Almost like the time I fitted "Splitfire Spark plugs" Or drilled me airbox full of holes.... not to mention the DTM Scorpion exhaust Ohhh the money I wasted!
  14. Bit of a DIY service today on the 1.8 TSI... new air filter fitted only £8 off eBay Hate to think what dealer would charge for a 5 minute job! Is it really worth doing it, the old one was 20,000 miles old but did not look that bad Or am I missing something
  15. I have averaged on the readout 41 for the last few years... remarkable considering its a petrol Who needs a diesel ?
  16. 108,000 miles and going strong... cheap to buy as everyone seem scared to death of them Despite hundreds of thousands running fine Enjoy
  17. 1.8 TSI are bargains at the moment because everyone is scared to death of the alleged "timing chain issue" Mine is a 58 reg and remapped to 210HP... absolutely brutal 50-70mph in 3rd gear with 40+ mpg £2500 anyone??? If this was VW or Audi it would be £7K easy
  18. Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI (Turbo) petrol September 2008 on a 58 registration Standard 160 BHP, 0-60 in 8 seconds However mine has the Blue Fin remap and now has 210 BHP with 0-60 in 7 seconds and still 40mpg! 50-75mph in 3rd gear takes 4.5 seconds, faster than a Boxster S! A very fast understated car My car is the elegance spec with... Cruise control, rear parking sensors, climatronic air con Also fitted are auto dimming rear view mirror, adjustable steering wheel and big box armrest Optional extras are... Brilliant silver metallic paint, looks stunning when clean Welcome home lights and Power sunroof! 5 VEGA alloys with good tyres all have 3-4 mm left Everything works fine interior is very clean no nasty smells or rips FSH (however to my dismay I have misplaced the original service book Grrrrr!!) I have a duplicate book and all the invoices The car had 3 services at Loaders Skoda (invoices to prove) I have had 2 services at local garage and one at Skoda, the book is stamped up to this effect. The car has been well maintained and since I have had her she has has oil changes every 6k Also included are 2 keys plus master key, full instruction pack The car is 7 1/2 years old now with all MOTS, last MOT 28/12/2014 sailed through with no advisories! One former keep then me, I have owned since 23 Feb 2012 And covered 43,000 trouble free miles, mileage at 106,000 The car has performed faultlessly She drives really well and there are no faults Bodywork there are a few minor marks and a small dink on the sill I suspect this was done during a service The boot is enormous and features 30/70 rear seat split I fitted new Phillips extreme headlight bulbs last year Rear pads were done July 2014 Car is available soon just PM if interested £2750 ono
  19. I can not comment about previous work. I bought her with 63k on the clock, nothing had been logged apart from the 3 services, however 20k miles between oil changes does seem extreme My car uses a litre of oil every 6k which I don not think is bad at all Thankfully there are possibly tens of thousands chain cam TSI cars running around with no issues, you only hear about the disasters on here I do feel for those who have had tensioner failure and its a real shame , putting people off a superb car and engine. Mind you the Tsi`s seem cheaper than most cars so it is not all bad, many appear terrified of the tensioner issue? But now for me the car has paid for itself 5 grand for 3 years motoring is a good return She owes me nothing I guess... I would keep her but fancy a change She is a very fast car, I had the super chips remap to 210 bhp and she absolutely flies.... Maybe I have been lucky or maybe the regular oil changes help?
  20. Well... My 58 reg 1.8 TSI elegance Octavia celebrates her 3rd birthday with me today Bought for a smidge over 5K with 63k on the clock Today she is showing 106,000 miles that`s 43k trouble free Absolutely sweet as can be, average 40mpg Costs are...4 bulbs, 2 rear pads and 8 oil changes Great car which always makes me smile
  21. It was only my opinion and my experience being offered If anyone is bothered then get a warranty.
  22. My 2009 Octavia 1.8 TSI has just done 101,000 miles and given 42.3 mpg last 5,000 miles! Believe too much hype and you would not ever get out of bed in the morning IMHO change the oil every 6k and/or get a warranty if it bothers you these forums are full of negativity and bad luck stories and this engine gets a bad press However not as much as the constant flow DPF and DMF woe Mine has run without issue last 2 years with a 60hp+ Blue fin remap, the car is very fast and unassuming Uses 250mls of oil per 3k Paid just 5k back in Feb 2012 best 5 grand I ever spent, Some on here lose that the moment they drive their new car out of the showroom, and yet criticise this engine Good luck and dip your toe
  23. Of course it will last! IMHO Change oil every 6k... as its a chain cam These ridiculous extended services of 20k for an oil change can not be good for this engine Mines just getting to 95k runs a sweet as a nut Enjoy one of the best kept secrets
  24. Mine is a 58 reg Octy elegance saloon with 94k on the clock There are still tens of thousands of these engines doing fine Soon for sale though ...i must be mad but fancy a change :-)
