  1. Hi Orkney. I think that might be the North East all the best Brian Jones
  2. Hi I'm in Vegas at the moment and we have a mini heat wave. Temperatures in the shade are running at 114/115F. The TV weatherman says that if your car is parked outside for a few hours, then the temperature inside the car rises to about 148F inside the car. We are hiring a Dodge Neon over here - possibly the worst new car I have ever driven. all the best Brian Jones
  3. Hi Just had a quick thought though. If you've been a bit naughty and are pulled over by the sherriffs, and he/she comes over with the usual "trying to get your pilots license sir". You can straight faced reply that you are considering a career change to become a police driver Think it'd work all the best Brian Jones
  4. Hi The funniest thing I find is that the copper could get away scot free, yet a racing driver like Damon Hill, driving a high performance car (read supercar) got banned (for a short while) for doing considerably less a few years back. Now admittedly the ban only lasted till the next grand prix, but Damon Hill in a supercar travelling at just over a hundred on a motorway, must have been safer than a police driver doing 159mph in a police pursuit car. all the best Brian Jones
  5. Hi Saw an intersting case last week at the dealer where I bought the vRS. The chap is an independent who'll source you any new or used car. Well as I was picking up the Fabia a customer came in with a new Seat Leon that was showing a warning light. When the garage connected up their computer a fault code came up that had everyone scratching their heads. When they tracked the "fault code" it was "maximum speed exceeded". I assumed this related to engine revs and the running in period. Came as a bit of a shock though and I suspect that if that chap was to make a warranty claim, and Seat could read that code, he might have a hard time after caning the motor. I wonder if it's the same for all VAG cars. all the best Brian Jones
  6. Hi The Fabia vRS did it for me. All motors are a compromise in some way or another. The Fabia is a great mix for me of performance, economy, build quality, space and residuals. all the best Brian Jones
  7. Hi This looks like a very cheap car. I had a quick look on the autotrader site and the cheapest vrs's I found were
  8. Hi No an art teacher up here has one in silver and her husband has an Octavia estate. I must admit when I ordered mine I didn't know she had one but I made my decision on a mix of performance, price and residuals. The last one clinched it. When I went to a local car dealer and asked him to look for a low mileage one year old vRS he looked at Glass's guide and found that a one year old car with 13k on the clock was priced at about what it had cost the original owner a year before. It therefore made little sense to look for a used one and so a nice new one is in my garage. oh yeah looking forward to the drive to work. Brian Jones
  9. Hi folks Sorry about the short message but I wanted to get out and have a drive. The Fabia is a vRS in black. What a hoot. Quickly read the manual about running in and saw that I was allowed to rev up to 3 quarters of the red line. I reckoned I'd be careful and draw the line at 3000rpm. You don't have to crawl around though at that though. I like it Brian Jones
  10. Hi Just picked up my new Fabia after work - nice! all the best Brian Jones
  11. Hi Except the oil comes ashore at Sullom Voe in Shetland and Flotta in Orkney. Now if it goes South to Grangemouth to be refined, it journeys just as far to the South of England as it does to come back to Orkney. all the best Brian Jones Fabia vRS comes tomorrow
  12. Hi What a small world. I live in Sandwick and the 17 mile drive home normally takes 20 mins. Driving over the roads I do I realise I am lucky. Last week it took an hour to get out of Edinburgh during the "rush hour". all the best Brian Jones
  13. Hi Inverness is the nearest but the boats also leave here for Aberdeen and that is where the vRS is coming from. Hopefully I wont need much warranty work!! all the best Brian Jones
  14. Hi folks I am being a bit previous here as my new car wont be here until the end of next week. I am waiting for a new Fabia vRS in black - can't wait. cheers Brian Jones
