  1. Hi all, Right, this might sound like a bit of a noobish question, so bear with me... Basically I have a T-Reg Felicia 1.3GLi estate, and am looking for a bit more umph from it. Only problem is I'm on a tight budget, so I'd like to know what the best value performance enhancers are for the car. (Also one of the reasons why I want to tweak it a little, can't see myself being able to afford a new car anytime soon) I'm quite happy getting my hands dirty, and am mechanically minded, so applying the stuff won't be the problem (plus theirs always the haynes ) I've done a bit of searching on here, and see that two things that might help are a new air intake/filter, and a Cat replacement section for the exhaust. Does anyone have any experience with trying to upgrade their Felicia, ie parts that did/didn't work? Whose best to buy from? etc I realise that any gains won't be massive, but a little extra would be nice, and I understand the filter change can make the engine sound a little growlyer [is that a word  ], which is a deffient bonus Thanks in advance Ed
  2. Just out of interest, where did you get the kit from? I've only done a little searching and found a pipercross kit for a felicia 1.4 16v.... didn't think that such an engine existed??? regards Ed
  3. excellent, thanks Lummox. I'll get hold of my local dealer and see what they say. Would be very useful if i could swap the chambers over
  4. good post, I need to know the same thing... was warned at the MOT that the fronts are a little low... really begining to notice it now though, so I guess pad replacement is in order.
  5. appologies for the slow response. She feels like she redlines fine... for a 1.3 Actually the stalling seems to have cleared up a little, hasn't happened recently. I have adjusted my drvining a little bit coming up to a junction now to compensate though (try not to let the revs drop too slowly with the clutch in, either put it down early, or a quick bit of heal and toe). I'll look into the sensors though, might have to wait a few months... still paying for the head gasket now... :(
  6. Title says it all really. My drivers side door lock broke the other day, have a feeling on an the arm coming off connecting it too the rod inside has sheared off. Put the key in the lock, and all that happens is that the cylinder now fully rotates... :( I'm on a bit of a budget, so I'm looking for somewhere I can get just one door cylinder... cheap. I'm happy to fit it myself, just need the lock. I've been on ebay, but unfortuantly lost a full lock set by only
  7. Hi, I've done a quick search though the forums, found a couple of things similar, but not quite the same. I have a 1.3GLi Felicia estate, and recently it has started to play up. Basically, sometimes when i roll up to a stop, the engine revs die and the car stalls. (yes i do have the clutch down :P ). Anyway, If I try to restart it, it won't for at least 5mins or so... very annoying whilst sitting in the middle of a busy junction :( Also, generally after starting, it is very spluttery, (seems to cough, then go, then cough, then go). I noticed on another thread, that the second part could be related to engine sensors, although I was more inclinded to think it might have something to do with idle speed, the car is often very reluctant to get going when started, and idles at about 500rpm... which I would think is a bit low. Quickly give a bit of background to the car though, list some of the problems I've had over the past year. About this time last year, a water pipe burst whilst driving down to southampton from sheffield, not much of a biggy, but stopped the trip. Fixed it myself and have thought not much more of it... till this week. Had the alternator replaced about 3months ago, after it decided to go haywire on a trip up to sheffield... couldn't have the raido on over 2000rpm, was pumping way too many volts into the system (about 16-18v I was told). Had a new alternator fitted, and it has been fine.. And this week just gone, took the car to be MOT'd, only to be told the head gasket had gone (had been suspecting it, car was using water and running quite hot), so had too get that fixed... ouch. I'm guessing that was a consequense of the water pipe problem. Anyway, not sure if any of these problems are related to this stalling/re-starting problem i have, although it does seem to have got worse since having the gasket changed. I wonder (hope) it may be a tuning thing, but given my current luck with the car I doubt it.... Any advice (preferably with DIY, I don't mind getting my hands dirty) Thanks in advance Ed P.S. forgot to add it's a '99 T-Plate
  8. Hi, My names Ed Clark, better known as Uncle Ted, or TryHard. I'm a 23 year old student, which explains why I have a Skoda Felica 1.3gli estate (wahooo ). Still, being skint, I want to find out any tips and hints for the car, plus get some bugs it currently seems to have sorted...I'm happy to do the work myself, plus it saves on labour costs Cya around Ed
