Any one tell me what oil to throw in my Octy 1.8 TSI - variable service? Thanks in advance.

Octavia Long delivery times
Duck's hoop replied to dandog's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
It's quicker than mine. I ordered same week as you and no word. Late May, early June, mid June. Shocking is putting it mildly. -
That is some crazy shti there. I have to hand it to you with that attention to detail bud. Those last pics would have yer eye out!

My New PD140 Elegance Estate
Duck's hoop replied to matt_theforce's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Lovely job. Got me all excited as I'm waiting on the exact same car in 1.8 TSI. Looks excellent. As we say around these parts, 'wear well'. -
Cheers mate, I think you're right.

Originally week 20, beginning 17 May, then revised to this week. Ordered it in late Feb.

Thanks again Bakers and Chris. I was thinking of DIMyself. I'd been thinking of PB glaze and sealant but not sure whether white diamond or black hole? It's a grey car. Is that a light or dark colour? I know it's more dark than light but it ain't dark either, or is it? This detailing lark is actually quite interesting. Something I'd have slapped myself for thinking a while back. Never saw the point, til I started.

Cheers guys. I was wondering about 'dealer inflicted swirls'. Seen this phrase somewhere. Would I be better instructing my dealer to NOT wash my car so as to keep the paint mint? So I can **** it up myself, if it is ****d up at all.

My 1.8 TSI gets built this week and I've been assured it's a max of 2 weeks to sittin on dealer's yard. It'll be interesting to see how that pans out.

Hi all - I'm taking delivery of a new Octy Combi in Anthracite grey at the end of the month. I want to give it the best start in life so was wondering if anyone had any tips/products I should use. I'll be washing, claying etc but what wax/sealant or combination of these should I use on this colour? Cheers.

Masonry Paint Removal
Duck's hoop replied to Duck's hoop's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have a good coat of wax on it. Bigw that sounds like the best option. Elbow grease. Cheers chaps. I'll have a go when I've calmed down some. -
My next door neighbour just painted his house. I was away for a few days and I notice he's painted my car as well. It's pretty speckled and very noticeable. Anybody any ideas how I might get it off? He's gone till next week so can't even give him an earful. I'm meant to be trading it in in 3 weeks. I've put this here and not somewhere else as I think it'll get more traffic/views. Cheers.

Hey foregonereality, as a matter of interest, what was your order date? Edit; Just checked back and found that. You're getting it 2 weeks earlier than me and I ordered 2 days later than you. Not so bad, for you!

I'm in Ireland (Dublin) and ordered in late Feb. My guy says it's build week 20 (beginning 17th May) and then 2 weeks to Dublin. I reckon he's a bit optimistic on delivery myself. Whatever happens it'll be at least 14 weeks wait. It's a family estate. Not a fricking Lambo.
-
I'm not for an instant doubting what you say - just that my guy hasn't managed to get me a date after almost 5 weeks. I'm a little peeved.

I think there are some issues around the feasibility of chipping the new build VAG engines. Seems it's difficult to not happening. Or maybe I misunderstand.
-
All these people on here ordering and getting instant build dates confuses me somewhat. I ordered mine a month ago and still haven't been allocated a build slot. I have been assured however that it is strictly 2 weeks from build to delivery to Ireland.

For any Irish posters - coming down the M50 this morning when I passed 2 transporters in convoy loaded with Superbs and Octys - someone's gonna have a happy end of the week.

Skoda too good for VW
Duck's hoop replied to Duck's hoop's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
That's what I thought too. And the reason I posted. But then surely the success behind Skoda over the last decade is the fact they offer such VFM. Great car/great price. They're not going to mess with that? Are they? -
Just perusing Spiegel online - as you do - and came across this article. My link Translated it's not great but you get the idea.

Xenons - worth the premium?
Duck's hoop replied to Duck's hoop's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I might wait couple of years, i.e. when they come standard! -
Xenons - worth the premium?
Duck's hoop replied to Duck's hoop's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Thanks for the input so far. At this point I'm hesitating between the first 4 and last 1 opinions -
I'm just wondering what the general concensus is. I would be stretching myself to pay the extra for xenons but if they make for a significantly improved night driving experience I just might. I suppose what I mean is - do they offer value for money? Return for my buck? Will I get any money back on resale? Any thoughts appreciated.
