  1. Hi, I've had a Octavia VRS 230 (65) for just over 6 months now and was wondering if it was worth purchasing a Smartlink license? I've been quoted £137 by my local dealer.
  2. Thats good to hear a 2010 @ 102K doing well. From your detail yours looks to be a diesel and I must say my petrol @34K also serviced every 12 months (about 6K a year) has been looked after. Your £27K spec seems about the same as I did on the carwow which got me a quote back of £23.2K. All the responses on here are telling me to stick unless I have the desire to spend £££££££££££££'s and really want the MK3.
  3. I'm the same, probably nearly a year now pondering. Coming to the decision to stick for a while longer or move away from Skoda for something completely different.
  4. Sorry my model is in my signature but it is a VRS. R36, very nice. Have never thought of something like that? I love the Mk2 VRS still but always thinking of getting something newer. May be the new superb but may be just a little big for what I really require.
  5. Ok, So I got a great deal when I purchased my MK2 FL back in 2010 and have been thinking about upgrading to a MK3. I Like the MK3 but from my estimation I'm looking at a £8k-£9k trade-in (32K on the clock + Full Skoda History) with at least a £23.5K spend (used carwow for a starting place) on the MK3 with my Spec. So here is my dilemma:- The MK2 in my spec I got for £16.4K new which was a great figure in my eyes for the car (paid in full the day I got it) I cannot get my head around paying £7K more at the new price and I cannot see £14K+ improvement in the car but I do like the MK3. I'm interested in peoples thoughts especially if you have had the same issue and did you stick or swap?
  6. Hi, Just a question......is your stereo playing if you go out to the car. My alarm kept going off on occasions and ended up being a faulty SD card. The connection must have been bad and it was like ejecting and entering your SD card which starts the stereo playing.
  7. Hi, I went from an Astra Coupe Turbo to an Avensis 1.8 TX3 (2004) due to starting a family. The car was rated high for safety. The drive was dull but the car was extremely reliable, in 5 years just had the front brake pads changed due to a squel. The Toyota service was second to none in my experience and what I would call cheap (most expensive £144 with the brake pads). It looked no different after 5 years in wear/tear as when I bought it. I changed to the Octavia VRS (2010) as I wanted a car of similiar size but missed the turbo power. The car has been reliable, servicing costs are not too bad. Only issue I've had is with the drivers bolster seat started to collapse but was sent away and fixed. Otherwise I still hae the car and I am not looking to replace it soon. My only worry is this random chain tensioner issue (2.0 TSI) that may occur in he future but only covered 16K so far. I can see why both cars would make a reliable taxi.
  8. I prefer the VRS "B pillar" body coloured look. Reason:- No finger print marks to try and clean off or that discoloured black (plastic look) The rubber trim/seals around the window has a much better look and finish to most cars (especialy the ones with the lower sections coming off).
  9. Thats a good deal...............Mine was £299 with 2 x MOT's or £50 voucher
  10. I got a 2 year service deal for years 3+4 - £299 incl 2 free MOT's
  11. I have had my alarm go off a few times during the early evening (when it has been really cold) and both times when I have got to the car the stereo has been playing. I think the stereo was setting off the alarm and each time the SD card seem to have reset to the first folder/Album. Could be my issue?
  12. I have the standard bolero stereo.......................just a freak night. It has been fine today/tonight so far. Just had that "Christine" feeling and was waiting for the stereo to be playing "Keep A-Knockin" or "bad to the bone".
  13. Can anyone explain this? Twice last night my alarm went off while the car was on the drive for no apparent reason. Now the funny thing is everytime I went out to check the car the stereo was on and had reset to playing the first track in the first folder of my SD card. Any ideas why this may have happened? Anyone else ever had this issue?
  14. Clip has been fitted and no more rattle Thank you for the information in this post and for Beadles for fitting the part.
  15. Candy white You will not regret it.......not that bad to keep clean especially compared to black
  16. So the £100 went on Underbonnect sound insulation - £23.08 + £1.68 Quantum Longlife III 5-Litre - £27.18 Rubber mats (spare for winter) - £28 Skoda motorsport Thermo mug (keep a warm drink while watching the son play football) - £6 Skoda plain Thermo mug (spare) - £4 3 x screen wash 1-Litre - £10.80
  17. Thank you for some new ideas I have the second boot hook and the rear door blinds already. Rubber mats for winter looks like a good choice.
  18. So I have the £100 voucher to use up by the 31/12/2011 that I got with a service deal. What to use it on so far? Underbonnect sound insulation oil (even though I don't seem to use any but good to have say a litre spare) What else?
  19. About 3/4 weeks ago I contacted my dealer about this issue and sent them the VW fix information. They agreed they were aware of the noise but there system shows no fix under warranty. They contacted Skoda UK but got nowhere. So where shall we go now?
  20. Bought in May 2010 and serviced yearly....just under 7K on the clock and never needed to top up the oil. Drove it like normal from Day one
  21. Can anyone confirm that Skoda are carrying out this fix below? Has anyone got a sevice soon who can ask about this before I speak to my dealer? The Bulletin reference is : 2021062/6 Dated: 21.07.11.. "Engine - rattling noises from engine exhaust system" Fits the same part as the USA instructions in the 1st post. Part Number: 06J 145 220A Problem: Rattling or jarring noise from the area engine compartment/exhaust system occurs between 1900 and 2900 rpm. Cause: Because of exhaust gas pulsations, the flap and rods of the wastegate vibrate at the start of the boost air control, which causes rattling or jarring noises. Solution: Fit a spring clip on the wastegate adjustment. Part: 06J 145 220A – Spring Clip. Warranty: Claim instructions are incorporated for dealer claim.
