  1. Pictures of 'laquer issues'. The first picture is the worse area on the drivers side near the windscreen, second area is on the leading edge of the bonnet on near side. There's also a few other individual patches.
  2. Unfortuantely the VRs has to go as I have gone onto the Company Car Scheme. December 2007, 57 Plate, 117k miles 170 bhp, 50+ mpg, FSH incl Cambelt Change T & T to Dec ‘12 Cruise Control Removable Tow Bar MP3/Aux In/6 CD Changer Dual Control A/C Tyre Pressure Sensors VRS Leather Trim Scotch Guarded Electric Windows, Non Smoker Now the bad points :( ;- The laquer is flaking on the bonnet and a few small patches on the wing, so would Def require a re-spray to put it into 'concourse' condition. There's also a couple of small 'dings' on the nearside doors from some bar stewards tw4ting their doors into mine in a car park. Needs to go and appreciate that the paint could put people off, but apart from this it's in VG clean condition inside and out and has many more miles left in it. £4995 ono. 3. No Def rear offside area and I think I might have sussed out what it may be I have a removable tow bar fitted and I think it may be the wiring loom for the plug that beeps when the car indicates will pull the boot lining off tomorrow night to try and sort it out as it's now whistling constantly :S
  4. It's the 2.0 diesel and not sure how the 'sound' starts. I locked the car and walked away, then when I returned some time later there was the high pitched noise?
  5. My '57 VRS has started to make a high pitched 'whistling' noise some time after it is parked and locked up, the noise is coming from the offside rear light cluster area??? I've played with the cd changer and that makes no difference and the noise appears to be coming from beneath that area anyway. I've started it up and played with every control and nob on the dash board and nothing affects it but the noise eventually stops after about 3 - 5 mins of driving. Anyone have any clues or previous experience of this? Ta.
  6. I'm in the AA and also went to the Dealer and actually asked him too, quoting directly what he said to the Solicitor as an 'expert' and he said exactly what you and everyone else has said, it will Def be worth less than a similar model for sale. What P'd me off the most is this was MY solicitor saying this not the guilty party's Solicitor contesting it - wtf
  7. Lost the rag with the solicitor today when she told me over the phone that a claim for loss of second hand value is usually only valid for 'prestige' cars One ****ty letter has been sent to her company outlining the errors of her ways
  8. Apparently there's just under £4k's worth of damage, not expecting to see it again until mid to late Jan as Christmas will bugger up spare deliveries and workshop time :( Is there a set formula for claiming for loss of second hand value as the two mentioned above are based upon two different base values - one is car value and the other is repair value. I obviously want to claim for the highest sum possible but if that goes against the norm then I don't want to contradict it.
  9. Phoned the dealers today and they reckon it's repairable and are waiting for the Ins. Engineer to inspect and approve, then they have to wait for parts. Looks like I won't be getting it back for a few weeks yet :( Forms have gone into the Solicitors for injury compensation and SH loss of value.
  10. Bio diesel is one possibility as there have been new methods of production developed this year that means that fields of rape don't have to be sown to produce it One method is producing it from green algae which only needs sunlight, water and CO2. The actual algae also produce more oil per gram that rape seed too. Second method is being developed in germany, and more importantly Mercedes and VAG have invested in the technology, where fuel oil is being produced from waste matter.
  11. Phoned the insurance this morning and basically they will only write off the vehicle and offer a brand new replacement if the repair estimate is over 80% of the market value of the car. Asked about the reduced value in future and they said that if that was the case then I could pursue a further claim in the future for loss of SH value. The car's gone back to the main Skoda dealer where I boought it from, so hopefully shouldn't be any problem in repairing it to manufacturers Spec. The insurance also said that they will warrant any repairs for 5 years, so actually better than Skoda:)
  12. In the 6 hours of driving I managed to do in mine before some numpty tail ended me, the brakes felt far superior to the Std one's in my Mk 1 Vrs. They certainly stopped me in plenty of time on the M6 yesterday morning when I had to perform an emergency stop when the traffic came to standstill, which cannot be said of the one's on the Audi A4 that hit me!
