  1. Thanks dude, but they don't list the Octavia III on there - nowhere does, that I can find. Can't believe nobody makes aftermarket brakes for it!
  2. My front pads need to be replaced and the disks are looking pretty worn too. Ideally I'd like to get some Yellowstuff pads for it, but EBC don't seem to make them (or ANY brakes)... In fact, I'm having a hard time finding any aftermarket pads/disks anywhere. Does anyone know if there are any that are a direct fit (Golf GTD?) off the shelf? I know the standard brakes are good out of the box, but there's no harm in making them a bit better! The car is a 2014 Octavia TDi VRS estate. Thanks!
  3. I switched to F1s when mine needed replacing. Much better grip, slightly quieter and lasted way longer than the OEM Contis.
  4. Maybe it's just me, but since I've had the vRS, I have been subject to literally 10 times as many road rage incidents as I ever had in the previous three cars! For instance last night on my way home, I came out of a village into a national speed limit and accelerated up to it (admittedly, I accelerated hard) and caught up with the guy in front quickly. Well before I got to him I backed off and coasted down to match his speed. He started tapping the brake pedal until he was doing about 30. I'd like to point out, I was a sensible distance away and I wasn't tailgating! The road in front cleared, so I indicated and pulled out to overtake him - at which point he booted it and tried to stop me from pulling back in. Luckily the Mercedes he was driving either wasn't quite as fast as the Octavia or he booted it a split second after me. Unluckily, a car came round the corner coming towards us and we'd caught up with another car; I had little choice but to indicate, pull in (cutting him up severely) and then slam the brakes on! Suffice it to say, he flashed his lights, honked his horn, drove about an inch off my bumper until the next roundabout where he tried to overtake me. He followed me for the next 3 miles with his full beam on and alternately sitting a distance away and flying up behind me. I'm not a confrontational chap and I must admit, I was wondering what I should do, but I managed to 'lose' him by overtaking a lorry on a roundabout. It was lucky that the timing of the lorry pulling away and me pulling up to the roundabout gave me the opportunity to do so - even then, he tried to follow me and almost got squashed by the lorry. OK, sometimes I might be to blame, but last night the guy just seemed to be psycho - I genuinely thought he was trying to force me to crash when he wasn't letting me in. Does anyone else get this kinda thing?
  5. That net is something I really miss from my old BMW 320d - it makes the boot so much more useful! Why it isn't standard on all estates, I'll never know - along with an opening rear window!
  6. Wouldn't it be down to having a different size wheel, rather than the hubs? I assume the space saver isn't 19", but then, I have no idea if it's 18" either - nor do I know the ramifications of driving with a smaller wheel on one hub. It doesn't sound like a good idea though!
  7. I only use it when driving on a motorway with a hangover. Or to freak new passengers out. Otherwise, I find it irritating and it feels like I'm out of control which is not a nice feeling at 80mph.
  8. My front Continentals lasted just over 9,000 miles. I replaced them with the Goodyear Eagle F1's that won Evo's 2013 tyre test and they're much better. They grip better in both wet and dry and they have reduced scrabble, especially in the wet.
  9. I went with Candy White because it was what the dealer had available and I didn't want to wait, I didn't really want to pay the extra tax on metallic and my last car was black so I thought white would make a nice change. I love the car in it, but was at the dealer last week and saw a Meteor Grey one and it looked stunning. If I'd seen it before buying mine, I'd have specced it and stuck the waiting list I think! Also, what is it with white paint and flies? I work in the country side and every time I leave the office, there are loads of flies walking all over my car! They poop on it too, leaving little black dots. It's either the colour or they like licking the Dodo wax...
  10. Mine doesn't have white worms - it has tiny little bubbles where the lacquer is lifting. The guy at the dealer had a look at the wheel and agreed it wasn't stone or kerb damage and told me he'd get a new wheel under warranty ordered.
  11. Well, the guy at the dealers said it would be covered if it was the lacquer gone and not due to kerbing or other damage. He did try to blame it on stone chipping at first though and dodged the question when I asked why stones would choose to attack only one wheel. I'm popping in on the way home from work for him to have a look at it.
  12. Thanks for the supremely useless reply but oddly enough, I did Google that for myself - except I used a more specific search term rather than a generic one. I couldn't find the answer on Skoda's website, nor in their warranty booklet. Thanks for that! I'll have a word with the dealer and see what they say.
  13. At 10,000 miles, I've just had to have the front pair of tyres replaced on my vRS TDi, at a local tyre place (with a good reputation). When they'd finished, I had a quick look at the wheels and on the offside one, there's now a chunk of lacquer missing from one of the thin silver spokes. :( The garage are saying that it's probably due to corrosion and that piece of lacquer would have flaked off for whoever was first to remove a tyre. I must admit, there's no damage that I can see to the wheel, just the lacquer missing, but my point was that I didn't think the lacquer would be flaky on a 6-month old car. Anyway, they've said they'll meet me half way with the cost of a refurb because it happened when in their care. I just went and got down on the floor and had a properly good look at the wheel and there's actually a few spots of lacquer missing around the edge of the wheel and there are what appears to be spots forming across a lot of the thin silver spokes. Having seen that, I think they're right and it isn't because the fitter managed to clonk it, it's because the lacquer is failing. My question then; are the wheels covered under warranty and if so, how difficult is it to get Skoda to replace one? There is no damage on the wheel at all (the nearside front is a different story, thanks to the missus). Thanks for any opinions offered
  14. If anyone works out what's needed to retrofit this to a Bolero, I would be very happy! The reversing camera is one thing I really miss from my old car.
  15. Is it an iPhone 5? Using an official Apple cable or a generic? When I used a generic with mine in my last car, it did exactly the same - went spazzo. An official Lightning cable worked fine though.
