  1. Not been to a meet in a few years but now i am back in a skoda i will try and pop along weather permiting, might even be up for the most "off white" car! Farm roads, mud, slush and road spray and all of a sudden candy white doesnt seem such a good idea!
  2. I have just traded a Leon FR TDI for an Octavia VRS TDI The seat was a good car and only went back to dealers once for a DPF sensor. Suspension is very hard, great if your out to play, not so good on family runs and over speed bumps and potholes! I had the full BTCC bodykit and thought it looked the part but not to everyones taste. Also the boot was only small. Loving the octavia so far, better build quality for the interior, less creaks. Much bigger boot area. Takes a bit more parking so parking sensors are a good option.
  3. Sorry yes i never said about hardware and software number, presumed the gu would have checked these already, not like you even need remove any covers on a fabia to see them. Also hardware is important but SW on these is reasonably cross compatable
  4. Not going to post the name and suplier on here but immo on these EDC15P+ ECU is very easy to remove indeed. With laptop and correct cable immo can be off in around 10 seconds! Some genuine reasons to do this, for example reading and cloning ECU's, makes secondhand ECU more valuable as it becomes "plug and play" However i am sure in wrong hands it becomes a big problem!
  5. Article in this months diesel car mag about him and this exact car. seems like he is wanting an estate version
  6. Thanks everyone. All working now, did as you guys said and made phone search for the car, connected easy enough then, now got 2 iphones and a nokia x6 connected. Shame iphone doesnt support Rsap though, signal is great when connected to nokia using Rsap.
  7. I have just taken delivery of a new 60 plate VRS. Factory fir bluetooth works great with nokia X6 using rsap but will not even find iphones, i have tried with two different 3GS but no luck, i thought this problem was meant to be sorted out on the latest generation on bluetooth module? Anyone else tried and found a solution?
  8. What dealer did you use, i see your from East Yorkshire and i am collecting my new car from Royce Roberts in Hull this Sunday.
  9. Some people will never have money, it doesnt "stick" with them! Spend what you earn, not what it costs to keep up with your mates. I dont go out drinking, smoking, drugs etc. Cheap holidays once in a while. Food is cheap, FACT. Its prepacked, ready preppared crap that costs money! Car isnt on finance, mortgage is found each month plus 10% that i can over pay. What i do though is work very hard, have three jobs. One manual farm work, construction work on a weekend, and i also run my own internet business.
  10. I have a vrs on order from first week in May. Lots of options, CR170, DSG, candy white, auto lights, xenons, mdi, spare, etc Spoke to dealer today and i have build week 31 and should be available to collect early Sept.
  11. About a month back i was looking to buy a very similar specced car as yourself. The figures are complicated by having two trade ins but what i did find was not all dealers were offering VAT free on the options and they should be so make sure this is the case. Couldnt get much movement on price about £250 less than the VAT free price and MDI thrown in.
  12. VRS with most options selected ordered on 5th of May The order form says "20 to 24 weeks wait" Not to bothered really traded in cars are still under warranty and price agreed so might aswell hang out for a 60 plate
  13. Thanks for that. Does anyone know if the skoda kit works the same?
  14. I have a VRS on order with bluetooth, bolero and MFSW The car will be driven by both myself and my girlfriend, can we "program" both phones to the car and the system recognise who is in the car and connect to the correct phone? I understand this wouldnt work if we were both in the car with phones on at the same time but would it work on girlfriends phone on weekdays and my phone on weekends and evenings? Thanks for any help from anyone who has tried this.
  15. Got it in one, drive a massey 6480 dyna6 most of the time! I suppose it will soon learn my "style" of driving! I have a byteshooter but never done any DSG tuning with it.
  16. Went for DSG in the end, i drive tractors all day with semi automatic gearboxes so might aswell have the same style of car gearbox! On the tractors we have much more control, can set at what RPM the gears kick up and down on a rotary dial. Can also program maximum gear, minimum gear, just auto up changes, just down changes, auto in reverse etc. But then we do have 24 forward and 24 reverse gears to choose from! Like the car we also can nudge the gear shifter to change gear or use steerwheel controls, I liked having the option on the DSG to use as an auto or manual, must admit the biggest problem seemed to be it changed up to soon in Drive and rev to much in Sport. Should make the software talk to maxidot so customer can tweak the settings. I know Byteshooter now has an option to "remap" DSG gearbox so that might be a possibility, maybe one of the forum sponsors can tell us more?
  17. I have ordered a VRS this week. Been told delivery 20 - 24 weeks, problem seems to be for the dealers, they struggle to price the trade in cars because they dont know how old they will be and how many extra miles covered before they are traded in. Spec up a few options so its a special build and not a car already in the system.
  18. Just ordered a new Octavia VRS from Royce Roberts. Went in on a very busy bank holiday and they still found time for us, valued our trade in cars sensible. Talked through the options well. We had alreay tried a VRS at another dealer, however Royce gave us the keys to his own Superb so we could try the 170 CR and DSG combination! Gone for lots of options so it will be a while for delivery. If anyone from Royce Roberts on reading this keep up the good work. By the way i am in no way connected with them and if they mess anything up i will also tell you that!
  19. Today i have placed an order on a new Octavia VRS. After getting afew quotes i found prices to be all over the place, trading in a Leon FR TDI 170 and a Fiat 500 sport. Got what i think is a good deal from Royce Roberts in Hull. Octavia VRS CR TDi Candy White DSG Bluetooth Maxidot Xenons Rear Parking sensors MDI Convienience lights, mirror etc Spare Wheel Hopefully have it for new reg in September!
  20. The more i read on here the more option boxes i end up ticking We are now onto:- Candy White 170 CR DSG Bluetooth MDI Xenons Spare Wheel Rear Parking sensors Auto lights, wipers Atleast maxidot is included with Bluetooth option! Does anybody know how bluetooth works with more than one phone? For example the girlfriend will be using it during the day and i will have it weekends and evenings. Can we have two phones programmed in and the system will detect who's phone is connected?
  21. How is everyone going on with DSG in the diesel VRS? I was going for manual and test drove one. However another dealer has just let us try the DSG in a superb with the 170 engine. Must admit it seemed smooth and maybe a worthwhile option, the Superb didnt have paddles but i believe the VRS does have flappy paddles? Also i would then go for Bluetooth and the multifunction steering wheel.
  22. I could have had earlier delivery but both current cars are under warranty and no rush to change so thought i would hang out for the new reg to come out. One dealer is offering a good deal based on him taking the Seat in now, not sure about this though, what if they go bust or something in the meanwhile! Had a similar thing happen when buying from an Agriculture machinery company, basically was sold a tractor that wasnt his to sell, took the old one in the swap over attachments etc and the new model never arrived. Luckily it was financed through the manufacturer and they sorted it out in the end.
  23. Thanks for that, not all dealers are offering VAT free options! I like the car but the dealers seem to know so little about what they are selling its shamefull. Bought a Fabia VRS years ago, dealer even said "your in luck, we have a diesel one in stock!" then went on the promise they all had 6 disk multi changer, ofcourse it arrived without it and they had to retrofit it. To be fair its not just a Skoda thing though, i have bought a couple of Seats and found there dealers to be poor also.
  24. Well i have now visited 3 dealers and seen the car in Blue and White. Test drove one today and decided on spec:- VRS TDI 6 speed manual Candy White Spare Wheel Rear Parking sensors Maxi dot Trading in a 2007 leon FR TDI with aero kit, 18s and bluetooth 36K miles And a Fiat 500 1.4 Sport, loads of toys, 14K miles Getting quotes all over the place to change, some want £1500 from me and others are offering upto a £1000 cash back. How can there be so much difference! Also is the 17.5% off the list price of the car or options too?
  25. I was thinking that, and i work down a farm drive and country lanes so maybe not ideal choice. Yellow just isnt really a skoda colour, think i might lose out when its time to trade it in. Talking myself around to race blue!
