  1. 2.0 184 BHP Vrs TDI, tried ECO mode after reading how it improved peoples MPG, tried for a full tanks worth of driving. Mixed driving over the tank as normal. No difference to the total mileage at all. The only difference was that I may as well have been towing an anchor behind me, no response out of the car, the wifes Citigo had a better response than the Vrs in ECO mode. Never had it out of Sport since, still returning 49-52MPG over a tank 31K in, (correct calculation done, not taken of the dash average).
  2. Blackvue 2 channel camera system (Front & Rear) , great piece of kit, nowadays it is not worth not getting one as there are so many situations where they are needed!
  3. I have my camera system set up so that it can be switched off completely, or once switched on via a remote switch with the ignition live it will run until you switch it off or the power magic recognises it needs to shut down. If you shut it down it needs the ignition on the start it running, but once on it runs permanantly.
  4. Asked at the dealer ship with regards to this at the beginning of last month, they said it was with drawn around April time. When they looked at ours they said anytime you want to trade in let us know - i said it is not coming into you for a trade in... :-)
  5. Thank you, i do not do much computer tech stuff. Thank you for your help in this matter. Apologises for cross posts but was not sure how else to get maximum coverage.
  6. It is with great pleasure that we can announce that a Charity Track weekend is to be held at Marham! Copy this link into your search bar to find the page: www.marhamtrackday.co.uk For anybody that is unaware of the fact, we at RAF Marham hold Charity track weekends. We now have one up and coming on 26th / 27th Sep. For information on the event use the link above to go to the web page. This page will provide you with information on what is is all about, view previous events and watch a 3 minute video showing some of the cars and track to be driven. If you want to max out your vehicle on a smooth long straight without fear of dangerous issues arising on the road then this is the place to do it. There are a wide variations of vehicles that turn up to test their metal. Don't be fooled if you come and see what looks like a slow car, because it may well pass you at great speed on the track, it has happened before... Additionally there are tip and advice if you have not attended an event like this before, it also shows places to stay locally if you wish to attend for the entire weekend. There will be a viewing area available whilst you are not enjoying the track time, refreshments and facilities will also be available. Prices are available on the website for one day and for the weekend. If you need further information / questions there is a contact us page, fill in your details and someone will get back to you with an answer. ESSENTIAL: if you wish to attend the event you will need photographic ID, (Driving Licence or Passport) - No ID - No entry to station. No drifting will be allowed at the event. There is a link to a thread on Piston heads ref this and other events held on the website home page. We have been doing these events for many years now, we would hope to see you there in the near future.
  7. I have used Sport mode since having the car, i am using eco mode for the first time on this tank, so far i do not seem to be getting any further on the fuel than i have been for the last 1yr + If there is any difference MPG wise it will be very minimal i think, the eco setting does not allow for a quicker pick up, thats the idea of the setting but i have not found any other advantage to using it so far. Unless i suddenly find that it has in fact given me an extra 10mpg i will go back to standard and put it in sport as it should be IMO.
  8. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to find out how many of a specific make and colour of car can be found on the net anywhere, if so do you have a link to it? Just interested to see if it is possible info to find? Thanks in advance.
  9. Having had our car just short of a year now, the sub is punchy, run from music from an iPhone via bluetooth. I have had cars which i had a system put in which cost £500-700 12-15 years ago and i think that it is as good as those systems. Mine is the non-vbf style, was lucky as got it pre price increase. Its good that it is in the boot but does not take up any space, it does run in and gets better with use i have found. Have had it running with the mirror distorting a few times and sound quality was good, would not match a full install of a few thousand pounds, but good value for money overall.
  10. What i classed as must have options: As others spare wheel. Sat nav, (Amundsen) not columbus IMO, too much upgrade cost from standard. Sunset pack. Canton upgrade. Winter pack. Leather is very nice, with heated seats, would not fancy it without, as it starts to get colder. Colour Maxidot. Get someone who has VCDS to add some free upgrades already in the car for you: (Add beer chit) Dipping NS mirror when placed into reverse. Cornering fog lamps (Both bulbs). Lap timer (Might come in useful one day?). High beam assist, its a great addition -Works instantly with other cars coming (Only with lights set in Auto mode). Have rear lights enabled when just on DRL's. Lane assist is standard, but had to get someone with VCDS to get it enabled.
  11. We originally ordered a TSI Hatch, we got a future value of £8K on a 10K a year mileage contract, we changed to a Diesel Estate, this changed the future value to £11.5K on 10K a year mileage contract. £3.5K difference before it came out of the factory. The difference in monthly contract went from £250 to £210 in favour of the Diesel, this is without the difference in cost of Fuel added in. As the car took so long to arrive, the garage gave us a car to use whilst we waited for ours to arrive, this is without a major error on their part. Additionally, we went from £140 Tax to £30, makes a big difference over the years. If your happy with what is on offer, then the mistake does not matter, but if it is going to cost you in the long run then it may be worth looking at waiting, but overall it is your decision.
  12. Well, finally managed to pick up the mighty Estate! Picked it up middle of the last week, all i can say really is WOW! Even running it in as its planned as a keeper, so treating it nice for the moment, nothing too harsh as to the way its driven. You can just feel the power it has on tap, its smooth, so easy to drive, does not feel like a vehicle pushing on towards 5m long. Must say the reversing sensors are very accurate, never had them before, but they along with the display showing how far the object is from the rear, its easy to park when getting used to the vehicle. The uprated sound system is a big hit! well worth the additional money, lots of extra bass but without being chavvy, really like the way it does not intrude on the boot area. Will be looking to get a few items changed within the system to allow for the said mods stated in VCDS adaptions. Had a lot of friends i know comment on how nice the car looks, its a great looking vehicle from any angle, people can't believe how nice the standard wheels look, imo, they are the nicest style for the Vrs. Its nice having one of the Vrs only colours, makes it stand out i think, not every ones taste, but, i like it, a lot. 450-500 miles in, and all is well, will be interesting to see when its all loosens up and can get a bit more time to have a play with the power on tap. This ones not so much of a sleeper as the previous Vrs was Silver, surprised quite a few people as some did not know what it was. Still on the first tank of Diesel, seems the average fuel consumption is showing anything from 52-58MPG, will be interesting to what the true figure is once it has been filled up, mixture of short runs and longer runs, all done in sport mode, max RPM used at any time although briefly up through the gears is 2700-2800rpm. A few runs of 70MPH on some dual carriageway, so its had a good mix of driving areas. Sits at 1900-2000rpm in 6th @ 70MPH. If you have a Vrs on order, it IS worth the wait, hang on in there, you won't be disappointed!
  13. MkIII on order, in Yellow! TDI Estate, with quite a few options. Just waiting a confirmed date of build have a provision date now.
  14. Prior to the DVLA catching up with everyone else, they did release PEN 15, and there is M1 NGE and J11CCE as far as i have seen in articles over time. The last 2 were spotted driving beside each other in the correct arrangement on one of our glorious motorways.
  15. Thanks for the link to the Estate, looks really good. Did order an Hatch originally, but IMO was won over by the estates looks and should have ordered that first. Would have brought my Fabia vRS in Yellow, but there was only 2 for sale at the time and one was massive miles and the other from an small independent dealer many miles form home and completely opposite where i was going to be working at the time. Brought the lowest mileage Fabia about at the time. Do not really worry about the impact of the colour choice as TBH, an dealers i have ever spoken to have said that a Yellow vRS does not stay with them long, as plenty of people want them, but people are a little colour safe when it comes to it at times. If you want to play it that way i think thats fine, but it makes a change i think, to not follow the pack and be brave. If nothing else as having had a few yellow cars previously, it makes finding the car a hell of a lot easier if nothing else in the car park!!! :-)
