  1. Thanks Bluecar and Diesel. Didn't realise it would be quite so simple.
  2. Does anyone out there know the way to remove the black plastic scuttle panel (Roomster 07 plate) below the windscreen so that I can inspect/clean the plenum chamber drains? thanks in advance Scottie
  3. Hi everyone, Yes I had same issues last year and after a load of electrical and physical diagnostics it WAS the accelerator pedal. Mechanic (not Skoda or VAG group) said he had fitted loads of pedals with similar issues to all VAG brands (Audi, VW, Skoda and Seat). New pedal @ £70 cured problem. Took old one back and tried to loosen it up with silicon and light oil but still sticky. Have read somewhere that it was a 'return spring' promlem.
  4. Thanks for replies..................seems I am on the luckier side in that no damage was caused. I'll note whay you say Wilbur and I'll watch out for that one. I'll take same advice Grafitti and only use when I absolutely have to.
  5. Hi Filled washer resevoir, used rear window washer....................no jet. Thinks ..ok..........jet blocked. Cleans and tries again.......washer water pouring from under rear bumper plus a smell of washer in car. Thinks...........washer pipe has popped loose from rear wiper assembly. Stripped panels off hatch.................pipe fixture secure. Tried washer again and same flow of washer liquid. Traced black corrugated pipework back up hatch to rubber tube between upper nearside hatch and car body which protects rear wiring and pipe from damage. Popped the two grommets and found that the black corrugated pipe was totally severed, thus washer water running through grommet and draining down nearside rear pillar. Have effected a sort of repair by using a 5mm polythene connector but this is not really able to fit into the space easily. Looking at the design it is the obvious weak point as it flexes as the hatch opens and closes. The main problem is that the pipe is 'loomed' to the wiring and there is no spare movement. Any other suggestions for a permanent fix for this issue. Thanks Scottie
  6. Hi John Just noticed your post so this may be too late. The only sensor which can be reached easily is the nearside one above the exhaust. It is held in place by a very simple double clip system which has to be 'popped'.....................much easier said than done. If you have access to a car lift you will actually be able to see it. This sensor is very suseptible to water spray from the nearside rear tyre and is not really adequately waterproofed. The best idea is to remove the rear bumper entirely............really very easy......probably 1 hour for first time. If you want more detailed info please ask Scottie
  7. I need to remove my rear bumper from a 2007 Roomster. I have located 2 x torx top of bumper, 3 x torx each side under wheel arch, 2 x plastic clips under bumper. All removed easily. It seems the only fixings left are at the very outer edge of the bumper on the upper side where it meets the rear panels on either side. It is not clear how these are removed without breaking the plastic or damaging paintwork. Any help would be good. Thanks Scottie
  8. Roomster 3, 1900TDI. Suggest 205/45 R16 V, Uniroyal Rainsport 2 (load 487Kg.) Excellent wet weather tyre and superb in snow. Scottie
  9. Hi Bripete If you like the car......................go for it. Suggest though that you look at 105BHP in the range as the Roomie is quite a heavy car........yes thats right ...well built by modern standards. AND it works well in snow!
  10. Over 3 years I have had occasional boot opening (maybe 6/7 times) when parked up. A puzzle but not irritating enough to write about. My neighbour has a golf and I will now perhaps be able to solve a mystery. I bet this is less than 1 million:1 chance and there are probably 100's of us worldwide with similar puzzle. I now wonder if whole car unlocks and then doors reset after 30 secondsbut because hatch physically pops open a little it is only the dash warning thats left active. It also would answer the fact that the alarm has never activated. Scottie
  11. Solution was replacement of control unit. Skoda were great as they charged me just 10% of cost as goodwill gesture. Cant complain about that. If your windows still dont work I suggest a dealer visit. best regards Scottie
  12. I agree with B.O.F.............a dealer visit. Is the car still under warranty? Best regards
  13. Thanks Tech1e, can locate easily now. Mybe time there was a Haynes manual! Best regards Scottie
  14. Hello all firstly a happy new year to everyone. Secondly............does anyone know if the roomie has a separate board for rely units/ control units e.g. flashers, lights, windows etc or are the units spread about vehicle? Particular interest is the front window control unit/ convenience control some call it?
  15. Thanks Andy This is a possibility. It seems that when weather is v cold, i.e. under -5C they stop working BUT when temp rises to above zero all is back to normal. Either there is some anti ice device fitted that is not mentioned in the handbook OR the control unit is erratic. Problem is I DO NOT trust the abilities of my dealer to dignose.............sad but true. Best regards Scottie
  16. Hi xman I have panoramic sunroof and there is no difference beween my old cars in winter.......................the old cars had small sunroof but when you looked there was practically no insulation in roof anyway except for roof trim. In summer it does not heat up as it has blind system and even with blinds open the car does not get roasty. My previous car, a Honda CRv, was like a freezer in winter and an oven in summer............the Roomie is much much better. Best regards Scottie
  17. Roomie 07 plate, 1.9 diesel. Failure of both front windows. All window switches dead. Fuses ok. Not iced up. Worked once since failure by opening and closing passenger front door but even that trick has stopped working. Anybody with similar problem or solution? Thanks Scottie
  18. Hi Fred Good suggestion but I recon it would involve removing bumper as lead to this sensor is very short and even if sensor is unclipped I don't think there would be enough working room. My solution is holding even in this awful weather. Regards Scottie
  19. Hi Sugarplum, Please look at my previous posts about intermittant sensor problems and see if symptoms are similar. Best regards Scottie
  20. Hello all Roomies SOLUTION FOUND I was correct it was a water ingress problem to the nearside sensor unit connector. There are 4 separate sensors as typical with VAG and Audi models. Apparently my problem of intermittant failures is common with this type of sensor. The offending sensor is the one nearest to the kerb. On ispection, which is possible by laying on your back and looking under bumper. this particular sensor has open access not only visually but phsically too. The four pin connector is on the top of the sensor to the offside. The problem is caused by water spray from the nearside rear tyre which can penetrate the connector thus interfering with the operation. I am told by an expert this is the most common fault in this sensor type. SOLUTION Wait until sensors have had a chance to dry out and the system is working normally. Work on a dry day where the car has had an overnight chance to dry out. Use a softish, small and dry paintbrush to brush off road dirt and grit............watch your eyes and wear safety specs or goggles. When clean spray the connector with and ignition sealant similar to Holts 'damp start'. If the spray does not reach the connector use an artists paint brush with a long handle to apply the damp start. Allow an hour for this to dry and repeat process. I you want absolute security apply general purpose silicon sealant to the connector where the wires emerge. Job done. This repair on my Roomie has been working for 4 weeks now through the wettest weather. Regards to all Scottie
  21. Hi Chris I have a 07 plate Roomie with factory fitted sensors. You are correct the sensors beep according to distance from rear object. The car icon and scrolling bars appear on the radio display (over-riding radio tuning info on screen). Radio unit fitted is Dance. Questions to ask dealer: Is radio a 'Dance' model supplied with original car? Is radio compatible with carcompatible with sensor units? Are the sensors genuine Skoda units? If the answers to these questions are 'yes' than I think there could be a wiring fault somewhere in connectors or wiring loom. Hope this helps Best regards Scottie
  22. Hi Martinz Have not had this problem while driving but occasionally the tailgate is unlocked when I go to the car and warning light shows when I start up. Do you have the 3 button version remote keyfob with the tailgate button in the centre? I think my issue with this is that I accidentally press, or something in my pocket presses the centre button. Is there anything that you have on your set of keys which could do this while you are driving? It could also be a malfunction of the circuitry in the remote. Best regards Scottie
  23. Hi Aubrey Thank goodness for other Skoda users of this site. I was beginning to think that it was just myself that was having this problem with my Roomie..............and thanks to the build quality its been my only one so far. When I have completed the task I will post up an update on what to do etc etc. My dealer was very puzzled by the fault too.....................on 4 separate occasions! The sensors were swapped and some changed, part of the wiring loom changed and checked on their diagnostic machine. Last visit was April and the system worked perfectly through the summer. It was a sheer accident that I was able to part diagnose the problem. Sensors worked at start of 10 mile journey. Very heavy rain with standing puddles on road edge. One was impossible to avoid and a lot of water thrown up. At end of journey 10 minutes later the nearside sensors came up blank on display, offside working as normal, long continuous sound from speaker in nearside pillar. Drove home, parked up, rain went off, sunny drying wind. Next morniing sensors worked as normal. I have further tested my theory of water ingress into a connector by running the car as normal in reasonably wet conditions but avoiding roadside puddles. 4 days of rain on and off and sensors still working ok. Thus it seems that the splash through the deep puddle caused the problem. As the car had so many visits (under warranty) for the same problem earlier in the year I asked my dealer to note the issue and that there was the possibility of a continuing intermittant problem which may appear after warrany expired. Having said that it would SEEM sensible to take it back now and have them look at it again BUT I have a lack of confidence in their ability to trace and solve the problem so I will do it myself when time and weather permit. Best regards Scottie
  24. Thanks for the link. I'll use the info to investigate location and connectors on installed unit. When i find them I'll treat them all to a good dry and then application of 'damp start plaster' spray. Incidentally when I was in the dealers in Jan - March 2010 they had several Skodas of different models in for the same or similar problems so I expect to see more posts on this issue this winter. Cheers Scottie
  25. Hi there Max Dont know which year your car is (mine is 2007) but audible sound comes from nearside door pillar, maybe small speaker on rear door. Note if the sensors dont pick up anything there is only one short bleep when you put it in reverse to show its working. Is there ever any sound even when you are right up close to something behind you and the two scrolling lines are fully showing on the display? There may be some differences in the unit specs depending on country and year of manufacture. Mine is brand name 'Dance'. If your roomie is still under warranty I suggest you use your dealer to try to fix it.......................if it needs fixed! BTW Central Scotland near Stirling.......................and yes its raining! Scottie
