  1. Hi Sagalout et al, If it makes you feel any better you are not alone. I have sold my October 16 S3 L&K 2.0TSI estate and have ordered a Volvo V60 T4 inscription Plus to replace it. Nothing wrong with my S3, in fact I loved it, but I wanted to keep an up to date (less than 3 years old) car. I looked at a new S3 and I looked at the new Passat, but I felt that the quality of the Volvo was a class above (my opinion). It also has all the safety systems I wanted and the seats are so comfortable and the interior is so relaxing. The deal I was able to negotiate means that I was able to get a huge discount, deals that were not available on the other cars. I was going to part exchange my S3, and was offered what I considered a good PX deal. However my son-in-law suggested I contact we buy any car.com. I initially dismissed this idea, but thought it was worth a try. I tried and was offered £1500 more than in PX! I don't know how they did that. I have seen cars on auto trader at Skoda agents for about the same price. So if anyone sees FY66XMX for sale, it was a brilliant car that never missed a beat and is in excellent condition. Regards Pilkers
  2. Hi, Only just spotted this thread. I have a superb 3 estate, and had 2 retrievers who sadly are now no longer with us (but they were 13 and 14 when they died). I had a Lintran dog cage (I think it was model 2006), which fitted perfectly in the car. It has doors which are lockable, so that you can leave the back door open on a warm day to allow the dogs to keep cool, and as the cage is a snug fit your belongings in the car (and the dogs) are secure. I used to take the cage in and out on my own in 30 seconds. It also had a mat which folded down over the rear sill and bumper so no scratches, and the cage has thermal qualities which keep the dogs cool. The cages are the same as those used by the police for their dogs. The firm is based near Lincoln. The cage was pricey, but the dog was totally secure and safe. My 2 babies loved it. Hope this helps.
  3. Update I took my car to Victoria garage in Maud having previously made an appointment (only had to wait a couple of days). Arrived at 1015 (the appointed time) and the car was taken straight through to the workshop and was put on the diagnostics computer. Within 10 minutes the technician (a real one!), came back and told me the problem was a defective lamda sensor. They did not have one in stock, but would order one from Skoda, which would be there in a few working days. In the meantime, the car was safe to use and it would not do any damage. Due to Easter, and my availability the first time I could take it in was last Monday (29th April). No problem sir, can you make 1015, leave it with us for about 4 hours and it will be fixed. For the first appointment I was in the garage for about half an hour. Went back on the appointed day, where a car was waiting for me if required. As I am a keen walker and it was a nice day, I took the opportunity to walk the old Dyce to Fraserburgh railway line to Stricken in the sunshine, so did not need a car. I arrived back at 1430 to find my car fixed and all parts, labour and connection to the diagnostics covered by warranty. Cost to me £0. Excellent service from Mike and his staff, delivered as promised and with a smile. An extremely professional and efficient Skoda garage. Thanks to Skoffski for putting me on to Victoria Garage at Maud. I know where my car will be going for any work and servicing in the future! Pilkers
  4. Hi Skoffski Thank you very much for your help. How come I have lived in Moray for over 35 years and never heard of Victoria Garage Maud. I was also not aware that there were garages that did not sell new cars, that could do warranty work and were Skoda authorised repairers. You live and learn! I have just spoken to a man at Victoria (Mike?), who could not have been more helpful and reassuring. He took the time to speak to me and I have booked my car in for next Thursday to get it diagnosed and hopefully fixed. I told him that if I need to leave the car while they get parts, I would not take a courtesy car, but would use the bus (one of the few advantages of being old is the bus pass). He said no problem if necessary, we will give you a lift to the next village which has a good bus service. This is so different to your usual dealer. I certainly get a warm feeling having spoken to him. I will certainly use Victoria to look after my pride and joy in the future. I will keep you informed. Briskoda proves its value yet again. Pilkers
  5. Thanks for the swift replies. The car has only done 14800 miles and has had the 1 and 2 year services carried out. The first one by a Skoda dealer (after a year), and the second by a local VAT registered garage (owned by a friend) cos I had a stroke and could not drive far to the nearest Skoda dealer. That was after 2 years (last October) I live in Elgin, which is 40 miles East of Inverness. If it is not too expensive, I would rather get it done locally. The car is never thrashed Pilkers
  6. It is quite a while since I have posted, but I am a regular visitor to the site to keep up with what is going on. I have a S3 220TSI which I bought new in October 2016 and I am delighted with it. Today, I had the (amber) emissions warning light come on about 60 miles from home. I pulled over and took (another) look in the book and it said that I should go to the nearest dealer and get assistance, or words to that effect. It said that I may notice a reduction in power. As it was after 6 o'clock I drove home carefully but certainly did not notice any reduction in power or any other detrimental effects. Once before (a few weeks ago), I noticed that the light stayed on on initial start up. I shut the engine off and by the time I had looked in the book and started the car again, the light had gone out. Anyone else experiences this problem? Does anyone have any ideas? The car is still under warranty, but I am not a fan of any Skoda dealer within 200 miles. Any help appreciated
  7. Hi niceaneasy, I am now 3000 miles in. I am still deeply in love with my car. It is easily the best car I have ever owned. I am still looking for the downside and hopefully wont find it. I have one very minor problem which is a noisy air conditioning fan, although it does get quieter when the inside reaches the selected temperature. It is not intrusive, and with the sound system on I don't hear it. SWMBO hears it more than me. I will get it fixed at the first service. The comfort and build quality are second to none. The few privileged people who I have allowed to ride in it are all impressed and love it. Rainmaker. It certainly lived up to your pre delivery hype. I thought you were exaggerating, but I think you undersold it. Regards Pilkers
  8. bryanc I also bought my car way down south as I am afraid that I don't trust the local dealers and they offered me a better deal. Like you I live in the NE of Scotland (Elgin) and often use the A96, which in the dark can be a nightmare. I find my xenon lights an essential and the bendy beams and light assist are magnificent. I have had my car for 2 and a bit months and I am delighted with it and echo many of your first impressions. Mine is also an L&K and I have the 2.0TSi estate version in petrol blue. My only "problem" so far is a noisy air conditioning fan, which I will get sorted at the first service. "Luckily(!)" for me after flying over 7000 hours in noisy military aircraft, my hearing is not great. But if I leave my hearing aids at home, or turn up the Canton pas de problem! I was going to pm you, but could not find the correct button! Regards Pilkers
  9. I claim the wooden spoon! 895 miles since delivery on 31 October 2016!
  10. I took delivery of my Superb 3 2.0TSi L&K DSG Estate just over a week ago. I am delighted with my choice. When I was taking a good detailed look around the car, I noticed that it is fitted with Hankook ventus prime 2 tyres. Is this standard? They are 235/45/18s so they are the expected size. I have not heard anyone else mention having Hankook tyres on their Superb, they are mostly Pirellis AFAIK. Are these good tyres, or are they a cheap option. I am afraid that I don't know a lot about tyres, so I thought I would ask the experts. Regards Pilkers
  11. I collected my 220 L&K estate on Monday and promptly drove 300 miles towards home, completing the other 150 miles on Tuesday. What a car. She is fantastic in all respects. I cant find anything I don't like. I have done 500 miles in total and returned 41 mpg (fill to fill). Astonishing. All the toys I specified are better than I anticipated. I am in love (Sad) Pilkers
  12. Well the long wait is nearly over. I collect my new baby next Monday and I cant wait! It is worse than being a child counting down the sleeps until Christmas. The dealer who is 400 miles away contacted me yesterday and realising my excitement produced a look around video clip which he sent me today. Fantastic
  13. Had a call yesterday from the dealer. My car has arrived. I travel 400 miles next week and pick it up next Monday. He knew how excited I am, so rather than just send me some "boring" pictures he did a walk round and provided a 3 minute video. It has not yet had the PDI completed so still has some packing on it, but it seemed to get dusty in here which made my eyes blurry, so I had to play it again and again and again ............ Now that is what I call service!
  14. Hi all, I was lucky enough to be in the RAF as aircrew (not a pilot), and flew on the Vulcan, including a season as display crew. Now that was something else. The acceleration when taking off with a light fuel load was unbelievable, then straight into a very steep climb and into a 90 degree wingover. I was also lucky enough to get a trip in a Buccaneer, which was like a 2 hour 10 minute orgasm! Fantastic. The rest of my time was flying on the Nimrod, a more sedate gentleman's machine, flying as low as 200 feet over the sea By the way I should get my SIII L&K 2.0TSI Estate next week. I cant wait Regards Pilkers
  15. As I have previously posted, I have on order a 220 L&K DSG estate, with a load of goodies. I ordered it on 11 July and was initially told that it would be built week beginning 25 September (this week). Having heard nothing, I called the dealer last week and was told that it was confirmed as the first week of October (next week). I asked when I could collect (I will have to travel 400 miles to collect), and was told 1 November. As I have to book a train ticket, I want to get a cheapy so was going to book now. Reading the info on this thread I think 4 weeks from build to collect may be a bit "sporty", so what does the panel think? I don't have an order number and have not been on the dealers back as I thought they would have nothing to say on which I could hang my hat! Please don't take that as a negative against the dealer as they have not done anything to upset me.
  16. I made a request on this forum for information on dog crates and Inoffski pointed me in the direction of Lintran. I have recently taken delivery of a Lintran dog crate (model 2006) which is one of their standard models that fits my 2011 Superb estate (and will fit my SIII estate when I take delivery in about 4 weeks). Lintran do a whole range of dog crates, some standard models that fit a range of cars as well as some bespoke versions for specific models. I am sure that if you went onto their website, you would find they have just what you need. If not I would recommend calling them as I found them to be very helpful. I am delighted with mine (as are my 2 retrievers). Although not the cheapest it is very robust and I feel would protect both the dogs and my little (!!) pink body in the event of an accident. It also keeps the dogs cool on a hot day because of it's construction. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for and I think the Lintran is a quality product at a reasonable price. Hope this helps
  17. benbisset93 No I am afraid I don't do face book
  18. Alf01 I note the 3 problems that you have (numbered 1,2,2 and 3). I am waiting for delivery of my 2.0TSi L&K estate which is due to take place in October. I currently have a 2011 2.0TDi estate in Elegance trim. I love the car but have noted a few issues that I hope have been sorted out in the new model. So on my Mk2 Superb, I note the following: There seems to be a loud droning noise from the passenger seat area whenever SWMBO is in the car. It seems to be missing whenever she is not there. My tame mechanic does not seem to be able to help Secondly, I have noticed that the car seems to attract haggis whenever I am driving around my home in Scotland. They seem to come out of the bushes by the road side with no warning. I have only hit a few of the little blighters, as I often manage to swerve to avoid them. So far I have not damaged the car, and at least the freezer is well stocked in time for the Burns night in January. So far the car does not seem to have attracted any Kangaroos Finally, I have also noticed that I have to refill the fuel tank about every 600 miles. I have been warned that this problem is likely to be more pronounced in my new purchase. I am sure I will manage. Regards Pilkers
  19. Chalk up another one in Elgin. 2011 Superb elegance estate 170TDi. Soon (October) to also have a new Superb L&K 2.0TSI estate
  20. Hi Gareth, I have ordered a 2.0 220 estate L&K with a few toys in Pacific Blue. The order went in on 11 July and my initial build week is 25 September, which I reckon means I get to start playing in mid to late October. Like you cant wait! Excited doesn't come close :sun: Regards Pilkers
  21. Hi Inoffski and others. I have ordered a new L&K estate with the raised boot floor. I have 2 retrievers and would like to get the Lintran 2006 as I think my dogs would need the height. I have tried measuring the dogs (not very scientific!), but have you ever tried to get retrievers to sit still long enough! I currently have a 2011 Superb estate and there is a lip about two and a half inches (or 6 and a bit cms) high. I would like to use the dog crate in that car until the new one arrives sometime in October I have 3 questions. Is the false floor removable? Has anyone tried a Lintran 2006 in a superb and does it fit? Is it likely to fit my existing car until the new one arrives? I don't expect one person to be able to answer all 3 questions, but I would appreciate help from anyone who has an answer to any of the above. Thanks Pilkers
  22. Thanks for the excellent summary and the offer of help. I have had a test drive of a 190 diesel DSG version as no one has a 2.0 TSI demonstrator. Disappointing, but understandable. Even the diesel was quiet and quite lively. I have read through the topic and see that there is some excellent information as you summarised. My car when it gets delivered will embark on a 400 mile journey to its home in Northern Scotland as its first outing. plenty of opportunity to have a good look at it. I cant wait. Its going to be a looooonnnnggggggggg wait!
  23. No Problem, I appreciate your help! Yes I have all of that with L&K (including DCC). Some things with L&K, I did not want, but when I specced up a SE-L executive with all the goodies I wanted, it was more expensive than the specced up L&K! So as this is my mid life crisis (I wish), I want to get the car I want with all the goodies. Hence the high spec No need to reply if you are busy, but thanks for the thread as information about the 220 is very scarce, and I like to do my homework before spending my money. Regards Pilkers
  24. This is my 65th present to myself. There are just the 2 of us (me and SWMBO) and 2 old retrievers. But don't be misled, there is a boy racer waiting to be reborn!
