  2. I am one of the owners who has replaced one of these , i think i dislodged it while cleaning one time and then it fell off it was only about £7 from tps my skoda parts people and takes about 5 mins to fix back on it has a small strip of double sided tape on the lower edge. I have had no issues since that one with them as i now wipe them gently while cleaning and every 2-3 months spray them up with silicone spray to keep them flexible and creak free. Peter

Check my posting history it's not really expensive i had mine done by the main dealer , Marlborough Skoda in Isleworth 12 May 2012 - 18:32 I had mine changed by Marlborough Skoda in isleworth west london at just over 40,000 the surprise was what i thought a very reasonable price it was about £74.00 , this sort of pricing you dont mind following the srvice interval recommendations. Peter
  4. I had mine replaced at about 35,000 miles , i was experiancing a exhaust fume smell in the cabin especially if i had the heater on Marlborough skoda replaced it under warranty and since then no more issues. The performance was not impaired or the fuel consumption it was just the smell that indicated something was wrong. Peter

  6. To answer the 215/55R17 question is the tyre fits well within the 3% ratio and suits the car very well as this is the size i use with my snow tyres (nokian) the http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/ The 215 against the 225 in terms of mpg about the same , noise level the 215 was quieter , handling the 225 wins much more stability (not in snow though) However the tyres did have different attributes being snow against sports so a closer product would really be needed to access this properly , the reason i use the slimmer tyres for winter is to clear the snow and rubbish easier as the wider section increases the chance of packing them full with snow etc. Hope this gives some idea Peter
  7. I did not like the sound and the crackling tweeters so I got rid of them and fitted some Inphase which were not man enough so then used Alpine SPR-17S 17cm 300 Watts Component Speakers in the front & Alpine SPR-17C 300 Watts 2-way speakers in the back with the addition of a Jbl amp hidden under the passenger seat I now have no sound issues from the poor tweeters , it's so much better. Peter
  8. And people said the yeti was odd looking initially ! L O L
  9. Good luck getting anything to fit where the tweeters are they are pretty intergrated , the speaker is easy . I had to modify the door panel for my alpine 300w with the tweeter part and plate the rear of the speaker outwards with mdf but you will discover space is pretty limited behind your panels mate so best of luck , take a look at my pictures they may give some insight as to what you are about to discover http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream the alpine 300 Watt and crossover unit in the only place possible i could find http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream you can see what i done with the tweeters here as you can't use the original area http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream the first attempt with Inphase speakers which sounded poor in comparison to the Alpines peter
  10. Guys if your fussy like me treat them or paint them ! I agree with the comments about reality they will need to be really beyond the life of the car before they are rusty enough to be compromised and even though my fantastic yeti is over 41000 miles old and under warranty still i would not expect these to be covered against rust as it was rightly claimed they are exposed to all elements etc. I used hammerite gloss black a lot of elbow grease and a sander and sorted them out but like i sad you could just leave them but i try to keep a vehicle as good as it was when new so i am a fussy person with things like this but dont panic ! Peter
  11. http://www.flickr.com/photos/61477245@N02/7009171217/in/photostream Ok those who know me know i like a clean car and am still de wintering the yeti , So was horrified to see the rust starting to take it's toll on the rear wishbones after a couple of years and 40,000 miles. I dont think i have had a car that has started to age like this before so quickly however on the upside it does seem localised to the rear wishbones which over the next week or so will be dealt with , i think its just the minimal paint coverage they apply these days and the exposed area.
  12. I love my black leather it's so cleanable with two young lads and the dogs etc , and very tough wearing http://www.flickr.com/photos/61477245@N02/5596265500/in/photostream's I may have added a few minor alterations for the family lol ! Peter
  13. Well im loosing my individuality round here Almost every day for the last week ive seen at least one Yeti Thursday M3 between M25 and Junction 3 a lovely red one (first ive seenin the flesh in red) Friday a dark blue one coming out of the R M A Sandhurst Saturday Steel grey se in College town Sunday a brown one in Camberley Monday Black elegance in Feltham Tuesday dark blue on the approach to th M25 on the M3 Wednesday Think it was a green one on the meadows roundabout about 6.20 a.m Thursday nearly got all the way home thinking i was elite again then just before turning into my road coming out of the shops in college town another 1 Friday Safe so far lol ! But you know there out there ! Peter Ps all lovely cars people but still like mine the best.
  14. With regard to the continental noise it's slightly better than the goodyear but i find the product to fall off a cliff in terms of grip after 3mm is reached on wet roads not something that suits my driving or expectations. The reason they remind you of your semperit's is most likely down to the fact they are the same family of products semperit , continental and uniroyal are all made by the cup group who manufactures all of them in the same factory in some cases and delivered on the the same paperwork all paid for to continental tyres Peter
  15. The 16"wheel and tyre are more comfortable to drive due to the increase in sidewall height and are cheaper to replace however the 17" wheel and tyre are so much sharper in cornering and fast direction change due to the reduction in sidewall height flexing , i get this question at least once a week from customers complaing of comfort issues or handling etc and to be honest there is no perfect tyre for a car but you have to find the perfect tyre for them as we all drive and use our cars in different ways. The noise issue is another story with the yeti the arches being like speaker pods they amplfiy the road noise it seems , when i had my original tyres on the goodyear excellence they really let you know they where there on motorways so when i got to 30,000 which is the most mileage i've ever had from a set of tyres i decided to install pirelli pzero rosso's what a great improvement in comfort noise and even sharper handling so tyre brands make a huge change .
  16. Hi Everyone Thanks for your help it went to skoda west london today and came out with all it's original functions thank goodness the machine had to be paired into the ecu fully as it was only half done so well done marlborough for handling my columbus warranty claim well , not bad after nearly two years a stereo and a dpf sensor is all i've had a issue with both resolved by marlborough under warranty. Peter
  17. Hi everyone , My columbus decided to freeze about two weeks ago and after contacting Marlborough Skoda west london it was booked in to see what was up they assesed that it was beyond repair and possibly a hard drive issue and ordered another unit under warranty for me and installed it , now the problem the mfd display used to say on the return button presses once mfd phone audio navigation assistance setup I think it was in this order but they seem unfamilier with this and when i returned it to them they really could not get what i was talking about when i refered to the navigation function display with arrows etc showing direction on the mfd , this is missing so is the audio tab which used to be there all i have now is mfd phone assistance setup Can any kind soul take a picture of there mfd display and the navigation direction arrow which appears in the mfd please so i can print it out and give it to them when it goes back tomorrow Thanks Peter [email protected] or post it here so i can download it please
  18. Try adjusting it without bending the razor blade heat shields out of the way on the vrs and keeping your fingers slice free ! Pete
  19. The yeti & octavia 2 do have rear toe / camber adjustment even though it's awkward on the octi and as long as the equipment is up to spec and the garage know what they are doing there is every chance of attaining the recommended range of settings specified by skoda Peter
  20. Check your model code against the above its on the paper label in your boot and if i remember the bootom line on the right hand side is your model code letters Peter
  21. Hi everyone , Today i was presented at work a update for rear geometry by a skoda main dealer plus a octavia vrs to align they always bring them to us at Feltham tyres as we have the latest hunter systems for wheel alignment the Hawkeye. Anyway what it says is models 2UA 2UC & 2UB chassis set rear geometry to CAMBER -50' -10' (max -1 DEGREE) or on RS chassis -1 DEGREE 15' -5' (max -1 degree 20') TOTAL TOE IN +10' -2' TOE IN DIVIDED LEFT +5' TOE IN DIVIDED RIGHT +5' this should eliminate saw tooth type wear on inner rear tyres (mainly found on 225/45R17 tyres especially bridgestones and stop the wheel bearing style noise over 30 mph which these good cars are hindered by. Hope this helps you fellow skoda owners bye for now i'm back off to the yeti forum good luck Peter
  22. I agree that the statement about the marks from the lever is rubbish. Check what kind of refurbishment you are getting you dont just want a local area touch up you need a complete refurb like A1 or spit & polish would offer with a warranty not just a car sales 3 month finish. How long have you got to loose your car for and will it be safe there etc , when customer have refurbs with us it's a four day service (i use spit & polish) to have them done and the car is kept on axle stands in a secure locked yard. Peter
  23. Sorry to see such damage , it,s caused by the steel fitting head on the machine being set too close so that when the pressure of the tyre is pulled onto the head the wheel rotates under the edge of the fitting head scrapping the wheel , the two dot marks are from the back of a tyre lever which was used to pull the tyrebead over the fitting head while demounting the old tyre it hit the wheel without a plastic protector fitted. normally caused through one of four reasons inexperience , wear in the equipment , the worst of all not giving a dam or lastly a cheap shoddy job by someone who thinks they can fit tyres. A legitimate company should have told you , apologised and offered to rectify the problem as the company i work for would have done , if this did not happen have you approached them over this and had any satisfaction if not as long as you have a receipt (i hope) contact the head office. Next time try finding a company like Feltham tyres who have invested in the top equipment like leverless fitting machines or our new hawkeye wheel aligner etc you will get a better job. p.s i have run feltham tyres heathrow for about twenty years now and on the odd occasion one of the staff do damage for one reason or another i always talk to the customer and we have it rectified Peter

    Roof Bars

Hi i have the skoda roof bars and leave my screws in when they are off (less chance of loosing them lol) and no wind noise. Firstly i bought some bargain roofbars from lidl and had to mod them slightly they worked but where tricky to fit and always made me worry as the width was on its limits of existance with my roofbox attached. This year i decided to take the plunge and purchased the skode original bars and have to say i am glad i did , under 5 mins to install and secure and smart when fitted on a family holiday last week no security worries and on motorways in reasonble winds coming out of wales at 85-90mph all was well. Really great value. Peter

    Professions

Well let's try to remember , I left school the day i was 16 having already secured a job to work in a kitchen of a cafe/restaurant in kingston upon thames which taught me how to cook and although low paid a good life skill teacher. Leaving that a year and a half later wanting a change wandered into a night kitchen cleaning job working in hotels round london and heathrow as this was a contracted job with good pay left it a year later when the contract changed hands with a pocket full of cash and a idea to buy the Capri i admired every weekend for a few months. Having bought the capri and watching money dwindle after a month of dossing i had a puncture which led me to motorway tyres and a conversation which landed me within 3 years taking the manager role on and forging a long career in the motor trade. 30 years from the start in a kitchen and no school qualifications i am still a manager in the fast fit industry managing about 30 people , running feltham tyres near heathrow and still enjoying it with various skills from cooking, cleaning, fitting, servicing, diagnostics, aircon, mot, welding, fabricating, managing, breakdowns 24hr service and basically enjoying myself and job no two days are the same. I have various qualifications now with coarses in and out of work and have a string of nvq's attained in my own time for fun computer technology , c programming etc etc Thanks for reading Peter
