  1. I had an Octavia with the dry 7 speed box and it was plagued with faults. I lost confidence in the car after 14 months and 4 separate gear related problems. I've put my faith in the 6 speed wet box this time. So far so good. Hope you get sorted!
  2. Mine is set to a double press to unlock the whole car and single for just the drivers door, although i have tried setting the car to accept a single press to unlock everything and this has not made a difference. Can't see any boot options in the car menu nor in the instruction booklet. It worked fine for ,well, 64 miles but is now not working which is why i suspect the boot microswitch although I can hear this making.
  3. Disappointing more than anything. 4 years and not a spot of bother from a French car that is supposed to be plagued with electrical faults and 64miles in and a problem occurs on this! Sods law
  4. Not got the electric boot but when i unlock the car, it unlocks all the doors fine and before is used to just reach the boot press the button and the boot would release and open. That is not now happening. I can hear the microswtich making but the boot remains locked. If i press and hold the boot button on the key fob for a secon or two it releases and allows me to open it.
  5. The button just above the number plate that releases the boot.
  6. Boot switch seems to be faulty (unless anyone can suggest a simple problem or user error). Car unlocks fine (double press) but I cant open the boot via the switch on the boot. I can open it with the key fine. I'm positive I've opened the boot with the boot button on the boot before so think this is a new fault and not one that has been like it since it left the factory. I'm a little disappointed as did not have a single failure in 4 years of ownership of my previous Pug 508. Hope this is not a sign of things to come!
  7. I'm in Harrogate too............and not back in a Skoda!
  8. Picked mine up today. 2.0 (150) DSG SE Business Estate in blue. Ordered 29th Jan. Worth the wait!
  9. Just had an email from the dealer. Mine has an unconfirmed build week of two weeks time (albeit he said this may change but should be confirmed later this week).I ordered mine Feb 1st. I was told 16-20 weeks at time of order.
  10. So am I correct in thinking that the 2.0 (150) DSG 2wd I have ordered will not require AdBlue? I was under the impression it would.
  11. I had them on my old Octavia DSG. I don't think they were touched once.Like most things in life now, machines and computers can do the job quicker and better than you an I so I say its a waste. Let the £2000 extra option you paid for do its job!
  12. I live in Harrogate and personally find the bin and recycling services excellent. I now have artificial grass so will rarely be putting the green waste out but I don't begrudge spending £39 on maintaining and enhancing this service. I remember the streets pre wheelie bins and they used to be strewn with all sorts after the wind, foxes, cats and magpies had finished with them.
  13. That's fab info, thanks very much. Ill look into my small print but will certainly come to you for some insurance once I have a delivery date for the car. Thanks again
  14. Currently drive a Peugeot 508 SW. Its been a cracking car to be honest. The engine does not quite have the poke of a VW group diesel but its much quieter. I rarely keep my cars for more than a couple of years but this is just coming up 4 years old! A record for me. Its solid, well put together and make a L & K Superb look sparse on kit, all for little money too. However...........I miss my old DSG though so coming back to Skoda with a SE L Superb on order
  15. Hi, I've got a Superb on order which I am going to be leasing over 24 months. Is there any form of GAP type insurance that would cover the cost of the car and my lease payments over 2 years should the car be in a major accident?
  16. Cheers guys. Looks like is much like my current Peugeot which I think is a good system and works well.
  17. Hi guys, I used to frequent this forum back in my Octavia owning days (2010-2012) but jumped ship due to various mechanical failures and didn't want to own the car out of warranty. Ive decided to give Skoda another go and I have a Superb SE Business on order (delivery May-ish) but was wondering if the parking sensors give a visual display anywhere or just audio. My current Peugeot gives an audio and visual display and I find the visual bit very useful. Not the end of the world if is doesn't but just curious! Thanks
  18. For that last year my wife has been off and it has only done 5600 in the year. All bar one trip to London was, schools, shops, doctors etc. The DPF light has never illuminated. Now my wife is doing a 50mile dailty commute the figures are starting show 52-54 mpg. Im pretty impressed to be honest. The engine is also far quieter than any Skoda diesel I have had the pleasure of driving. Im not saying it does not have its quirks but French cars really have a come a long way. I would not hesitate to have another.
  19. Hi, I swapped my 2010 Octavia 1.8 TSI estate for a new Peugeot 508 estate just over a year ago. I'm not brand led and buy what I like at the time. I love this car, it's 2.0 diesel has averaged 46.9 mpg which is fantastic. No rattles ( a problem that plagued my previous Skoda) and I'm still discovering gadgets that I didn't know existed. Never right off buying French, the stereotypes are thing of the past-they build good cars. The dealer thus far has been fantastic too.
  20. To quote the great Eddie Izzard; guns don't kill people, people do. I think the gun kind of helps.....
  21. For what it's worth I'm a big fan of the ideal logic plus range. Solidly built, keenly priced and a 7 year warranty to boot. It's also one of the smallest boilers out there so doesn't take over an entire cupboard.
  22. I can normally beat BG by abou 1k. Other plumbers will be able to easily. Don't be fooled into the Worcester route either. They are ok boilers but no better than boilers half their price. Make sure a system filter is in the price and at least 2 bottles of quality branded inhibitor.
  23. You can get a remote condensate pump-about £50.00. Boilers with an integral condensate pump tend to be floor mounted versions so not really a direct swap for what you have. http://onlineshop.plumbspares.co.uk/sauermann-si-1820-condensate-pump-333-p.asp?gclid=CMbj7vzT0bMCFU3HtAod7DMASA
  24. I installed hundreds of Solo 2's in the early 90's and have a contract to repair most of the ones I installed so yes i know how easy the front combustion case come off. Its still not meant to be taken off by someone not competnet to perform the basic safety checks on a gas appliancxe such as yourself. Dont feel too special to be possesion of the appliance instructions. it's part of the Gas Safety Installation and Use Regs to leave the instructions with a customer when the aplliance is installed. The installer would of broken the regs if he has walked off with them which makes your point invalid. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I would suggest paying approx £40 for a professional opinon on the problem and get the problem sorted. It's you poor wife I feel for having to sit in a stone cold house due to her husband trying to save a few quid here and there, clearly getting out of his depth and getting it wrong. I would say, speaking from experience, that the heat exchanger is leaking and that you have just wasted a circuit board on this problem and that too with be broken due to the water damage. The burners can split on these which caused a hot spot on the heat exchanger making it warp/crack, but seeing as you seem to know it all Ill leave it to you!
