  1. Can't seem to find anything on here concerning the software changes concerning the emissions scandal has anyone had it done by the dealer and did it affect the performance fuel consumption etc of the car and would you recommend getting it done.
  2. Why when I indicate sometimes the indicators are completely silent and other times they tick like a clock
  3. I was at the stealers recently having a heating problem fixed and asked about the upgrade to the satnav. Nearly choked when they wanted £200 to do it. I have seen upgrade discs on Ebay are they any good.
  4. Just had my 10 plate back from the dealer similar problem it was found to be the cabin sensors and a flap motor. Dash out to repair.
  5. Not yet I assumed that as I bought the car from new that it would be correct. Main dealer next stop.
  6. I have owned the car for just over a year from new and it is fantastic. The only problem I have is that other drivers seem to think I am driving with main beam when I am only using dipped beam. They go on full beam and it is really ****ing me off any suggestions. I am considering changing my main beam to 100w bulbs, I don't see any other options as the level of the lights is controlled by the ECU. If I do change then hopefully I will burn their eyeballs out but is there an issue with the lights on this car.
  7. I went to the dealers seven times before I got over the badge I am in my forties and remember when Skoda deserved the tag. However it is now a different story to my mind. Skoda is one of the best brands out there. Unfortunately I think VAG will cut them loose as they are performing better than VAG premium brands like Volkswagen and if you drive an Audi as a company car you must start looking at what you are getting for the extra tax you are paying and in a word it is the badge. When I bought my car the direct equivalent Audi was £17000 more are these people mad or so in love with the badge that they are prepared to pay the extra for that. If so the world has gone mad.
  8. Could have been a potential suicide bid.
  9. Lighthouse Inn on the coast road between Cardiff and Newport.
  10. I drive a silver Octavia VRS diesel estate with all the whistles and bells and I do look after it. Anyway I had just finished my daily walk with the dogs and was in my local for a quick one and a guy approahes me at the bar and asks me what car I drive I tell him it's the silver Skoda estate and he replies "What the one by the front door, I thought that was a Merc." Enough said!
  11. Had exactly the same thing happen with my Octavia a few weeks back. Nothing to do with sitting on the fob. There was a similar issue with my Audi S3 but I have never got to the bottom of the problem. Contacted the dealer who as usual was clueless. Talked to Skoda and they thought there may be a problem with a regulator or the wiring loom. They have asked me to wait for it to happen again and then take it to the dealer. Watch this space.
  12. Sorry here we go http://www.accessories.skoda.co.uk/productsList.aspx?type=a&id=18&main=Car%20Care%20and%20Protection⊂=Bumper%20Protection
  13. Has anyone bought the following and if so was it easy to fit and is it any use as I have two dogs and I am trying to stop the bumper from being scratched. If it does the job then it is a bargin at £7.00
  14. Had a bash at that and it has done the trick big thank you. Thinking about it logically is was probably bits of the owl poor sod.
  15. Coming home last night an owl flew into the car and got clipped by the top of the windscreen. When I checked the car this morning there are a couple of marks on the roof panel. There does not seem to be any depth to the marks because there is no roughness when I run my fingers over the marks. Any suggestions on how I can get ride of them.
  16. I had an Audi S3 that did exactly the same thing. Lock the car go to bed two hours later wake up alarm going off windows open. It is a well known and documented fault with the Audi so maybe it is a carryover to your car with either the equipment or software. Speak to the dealer asap and don't get fobbed off.
  17. Syphon out as much petrol as you can and re-fill with diesel and you should not experience any problems. Don't take it to a garage as they will charge you a fortune to drain the tank and replace the filters. If it was diesel into a petrol then you would be knackered.
  18. Corrosion doesn't sound like the problem, that normally causes the indicator to flash very quickly. To me it sounds like the indicator switch. I would take a trip down the auto electricians before I went anywhere near the dealer to have it checked out.
  19. Bought my car a few weeks ago and it's my first adventure into diesel. I have filled it up twice at two different Tesco petrol stations and on both occasions I got my hands covered in diesel from the handle of the pump. For some reason Tesco no longer provide plastic gloves. When I had filled the car up on the first occasion I asked the attendant if there was somewhere I could wash my hands only to be told there were no facilities in the garage for the public to wash. He told me I would have to make other arrangements to clean my hands. He asked me for payment and I replied that until I washed my hands I would neither pay or move the car. As it was busy he let me use the staff facilities, but he was not happy. Anyway to the main point of the post where can you buy cheap disposable gloves.
  20. Generally speaking if your car goes into limp mode then this will de-activate the cruise control I assume as some sort of safety feature to stop any engine damage. A common feature on a lot of cars these days.
  21. I had this problem with a previous car I owned turned out to be the bulkhead seal on the bonnet release cable may be worth checking.
  22. How do you check which version you have loaded
  23. If you do a deal today based on the current value of your car the dealer should honour that valuation even if delivery of the new car is 12 weeks away. It's not your fault that they do not have the car you want to buy available now. Before I bought my Octavia both Honda and Toyota dealers offered me fixed values for my part-x on future delivery dates. If your Skoda dealer won't offer this price guarantee go elsewhere.
  24. Thanks for the info guys will give it a try Sunday. The reason I am messing with the bulbs is that I like the lights to look silver so thats why I am changing the indicator bulbs. To my taste LED sidelights are much better than ordinary bulbs and finally when the manufacturer goes to the trouble of fitting HID dipped beam and you switch on main beam and its yellow not nice but it's a personal thing.
