  1. I've got a same car as yours. Interested to know what you meant 'corrected RPM to 830rpm' and how you did it?
  2. Exactly the same as yours. I had not driven it until Wed when I drove it to the dealer, on the way there the light went off. Presumably due to the engine being warmed up. The dealer told me still needs to check it up, as the software needs updating and the fault record needs to be erased. They carried out ECU check up and software update, as the allowence range was set too narrow leading ECU recognising extreme low temp as a fault. All done under warranty of course. thumb up for Silbury Cramlington.
  3. On Thursday the outdoor temperature was minus 9 degress. When I switched on the car the exhaust light came on and stays on, never seen DPF light on. My dealer is not available untill Monday, can I still drive it? the car still drives fine. Do I need a good run on motoway at more than 40 mph to degen the DPF? Help me please, any ideals will be appreciated.
  4. I bought my 1.6 CR in May and have driven 4000miles. On the 20mile daily commute I average around 50mpg, half town and half dual carriageway. In the morning the congestion in town is normally heavy. I don't drive very fast but if the road allows 70 mph I would never stay 60 like many people do. Last weekend we went north to Edinbrough on A1 which is mostly single carriageway it did 61 mpg to and 57 back with 4 people on board. I'v never driven a PD Oty so couldn't appreciate their power but for me 1.6's far from underpower, you just need to use the right gear for the right situation, at lower down rev you do need to switch gear more often(than my wife's 1.4 Corsa), it never struggles with uphills(like the 1.4 Corsa does). What I'm really pleased with is the creamy smooth engine note, in the cabin you won't hear any diesel clatter what so ever. The road noise was intrusive, I stuck some sound proofing material to the boot and under the back seat at the advise from relevant threads in this forum and made a big difference. afterall the road noise is not only heard in th 1.6CR. Considering the balance between the overall package you get and the appealing pirce it's well worth having a good look at for those people to whom money and eco matters.
  5. most drivers here seem to have owned VRS and have enormous proud of their Octys. I have driven my 1.6 CR for 4000 miles now I have to say, despite of bad press, this is the best car I have ever owned and I absolutely love it. The smoothness of the engine makes driving the car a dream.
  6. My 1.6 CR hasn't got this problem. I drove it for about 220 miles today and perticularly checked it at low revs but didn't find any unwanted sounds(apart from the road noise). I have been used to the way it dirves so been able to use the right gear for the right speed(not always followed the gear changing indicator). It has done 2500 miles now and never vibrates. (the following is not relevant to the thread but I thought people may be intrerested to know) The more I drive it the more I love it, It becomes more responsive as it's running in and feels swift in the trafic. From Newcastle to York I managed average 62.8 MPG(extaly the official figure),but when returning Newcastle it made only 56.6 MPG average in the rain. The average speed on motorway I would say about 73mph, there is a couple of miles of road work both ways limited to 50 mph.
  7. Thanks for reply. I haven't thoght about that, it makes sense. will try as what you said.
  8. Hi all. Had my new Octy 1.6 CR elegance for a few weeks now. I opted for electric folding door mirrors, nice useful function. But the problem is they don't always unfold automaticly when the ignition is switched on. In most occasions they do but sometimes either one or both stayed folded even the car moved off, when they had to be manually unfolded with the switch. I couldn't predict when this would happen. Has anybody else experienced the same problem? or it may be just normal? I haven't been to ask the dealer yet, any ideal guys? Cheers
  9. I have driven my new 1.6 CR elegance hatch for about 500 miles, i have to say it takes a bit getting use to. It drives like a petrol, you do need to rev it to about 2300 rpm to feel the surge of power in low gears. Once the power kicks in it's fast. If you just follow the gear changing indication on the screen you may feel under power. At motorway speed, overtaking is nothing like my previous Mondeo(130 bhp), you just need to give it a good rev. The good things I like: it is very refined, you can hardly hear the engine noise at any speed. my average mpg is 53, that's for half urban and half motorway. of course it's still running in, it will get better later on.
  10. Variant: Elegance Engine: 1.6 CR TDI Transmission: Manual Hatch or Estate: Hatch Colour: Briliant Silver Extras: Electric folding door mirrors and full size spare wheel Mods to date: None Got delivery on 17/04/2010, looks fantastic, drives like a petrol, smells NEW!
  11. Here are more pictures of Chinese Octy, Really can't see any compromise in quality if it's not even better. http://photo.auto.sina.com.cn/picture/235409_0_1.html#pic
  12. I took the 1.5% finance this month. I did ask them if it could be extended to 4 years. the answer was no, for 4 years the apr will be 6.5%. To get the deal you need to put down 10% deposit.
  13. I will collect mine next week. Shame that electric folding mirrors is not standard but I have opted for electric adjustable seat and the package comes with electric folding mirrors according to their web site. Can't wait to see it in flesh. Will drive it from Newcastle to Windsor in Easter, will put it into a good test.
  14. I ordered my 1.6 TDI CR Elegance Octy at Silbury in Cramington today, the salesman there was really helpful and efficient, I just showed him the DTD price and got it matched. the low rate finance was really a suprising gift, saved me a lot of money compared to online finance deal. Didn't expect that. Recommended.
  15. I was going to make up my mind to buy a 1.6 Tdi CR untill I read the threads in this forum giving the negative comments on the power output. So I went for a test drive today......the outcome, completely cleared my worries. the car was not fast but far from being 'dangerously underpower'! I don't normally drive fast so this car suits me perfectly. It's quiet and smooth, has actually a reasonable pace to catch up with the trafic. test driving it on an A road I overtook a few cars and felt safe with the power when I need it. The dealer was very keen and friendly, when I showed him the lowest price I quoted on internet he was more then happy to match that plus a fantastic low rate finance. I placed the order and now I'm waiting with all the excitment.
