  1. My car is out of warranty so I decide myself what action to take. They were not pushy about it at all just gave me the number of their service department if I wanted to talk about. I'm able work out for myself what is and isn't important to fix. When I see the car again I will make my mind up about what needs doing.
  2. Haldex oil change Tyre gunk out of date Slight misting on offside front shock absorber Wear on front discs
  3. My yeti was taken in for a service and MOT today. I'm in Tenerife so my brother in law took the car in. I was surprised to get an e-mail from the service department with a video link attached. The video was a walk-through with a voiceover of some things they had noticed during a health check of the car. There were four things in total, my brother in law had already OK'd two of them and the other two were along the lines of check this within the next six months. What a great idea.
  4. Seen in La Orotava, Tenerife, yesterday. Plenty of other Yeti's in Tenerife but strangely not many of them are Todo Terrano.
  5. Have they sacked all the traffic cops round your way and removed all the speed cameras? I put mine on cruise control at 78 on the basis that the speedo is slightly slow and a couple of mph above 70 can be got away with.
  6. Ooh, that's a lot. I have a 170 Elegance 4x4 and I change my insurer every year to get the best deal. This year in February I changed to Hastings and paid £175.85. I bought via Topcashback and I will get £40 cash back in a few months when it clears. So £135.85.
  7. Will it be left or right-hand drive?
  8. Mine (Diesel 170) went flat when I left it for two months. Something was draining it very slowly. I now plug in a cheap solar battery charger http://www.maplin.co.uk/solar-powered-12v-1.5w-battery-trickle-charger-98358 which keeps it topped up summer and winter. Left in for a month at the airport in November and it started first time.
  9. Glad you enjoyed the ride home and thanks for the review. You can program an audible warning via the Maxidot which goes off when you exceed the speed you've set in there. Mine is set at 80mph (true speed probably a few mph less). Stewart
  10. Any of the engines would be OK. I have a 170 which I probably don't need but it's what I want as I like to give it some welly now and then.
  11. What sort of profile is your driving. i.e. regular short journey's, middling commute. regular motorway/a road trips?
  12. Difficult to say as you've not told us which engine it is. 110, 140 or 170HP?
  13. Must be the season for splitting wipers. Just replace my front wipers yesterday after the nearside one split. £26.99 from Motor World including free fitting. Took about 1 minute to fit.
  14. Ah, sorry, it was the old one. I didn't know there was a new one out.
  15. I had a test drive for an hour in a Santa Fe before I had a test drive in the Yeti. It was awful, felt like I was driving a tractor. The handling was very poor, I took it on the same route I used with the Yeti and in all departments, comfort, handling, acceleration, braking it was dreadful. Yes, it's got lots of space and a five year warranty but it can't compare with the Yeti. well with a 170 anyway.
  16. I'm not recommending them but Kwik-Fit say they have a "Tyre Hotel" where they will store your tyres if you're swapping summer/winter. They only store tyres not rims. I think the cost is £45 but can't find the cost on the Kwik-Fit website.
  17. The socket in the console remains live after the ignition is turned off. I have a small panel I bought from Maplin for £10 in a half price sale. I've used it a couple of times when the car has been left for a long period without being used and it's done the trick.
  18. I took my car in for it's second service today. I asked them to look at the climate control as it didn't seem cold enough when I last needed cooling down. I also asked them about the white worm on the badges and the service receptionist said "We've got you down for a product enhancement on them". A what? "We're replacing them under warranty". Why not just say that then? Anyway, badges done and look fine but apparently my condenser is leaking so new condenser ordered and I'll need to take the car in for a couple of days when the parts arrive. Fitting it means taking most of the front end of the car off apparently. Stewart
  19. I'm in the same position as you, I can avoid going out in bad weather. I decided I could do without winter wheels/tyres and spend the money saved on more wine!
  20. It comes in a range of colours including white. Got it from Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=skoda+yeti+custom+&_trksid=p5197.c0.m627 There's an angry one and a smiling one.
  21. Cuddling! Cuddling! Does it look like a cuddly Yeti? I tried it nearer the name badge but I prefer it where it is.
  22. It was fairly fiddly to get it on right. What do you think?
  23. 1. Mine is a 59 plate, so will it accept SDHC cards in the ICE? Yes, up to 32GB IIRC. Loads of threads about getting your music onto the card in this forum so have a search. Stewart
  24. Yes, this plant exists but as far as I recall it's never been turned on because it's too expensive to run unless there's a "real" drought. The situation in the UK is patchy as far as water shortages go. Most of the south and east of England have hose pipe bans in place to conserve supplies but most of the rest of England and Wales and Scotland do not. In fact there's an excess of water in those places. We either need some way of moving the water around the countries or greater investment in the infrastructure in the south and east so more water can be stored. Of course most of the water companies are privatised now so their concern is profits not investment for the future. We also have some companies who lose up to 25% of the water they supply through leaks, we'd be in a better position if they fixed them but again, a huge investment is needed.
