Dr ColorChip - Stone chip touch up kits - Group Buy
Ess_Three replied to Tom_vRS's topic in Group Buys
Got my 2 kits...so thanks for all the work and effort in sorting this Group Buy out! -
Rear seat pops out of its bracket when folding...
Ess_Three replied to *tim*'s topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
The 1/3 bit of my rear seat backrest does it. (drivers side) You tip it forward and the outboard lower mount pops out. It goes straight back in when you put the backrest in it's normal position...but I'm thinking it shouldn't pop out like that. -
I'd love to post pics... But the car is 150 miles away at home, and I'm stuck on an Oil Platform in the middle of the North Sea. Not home for another week... So just imagine Andy's set up, with an additional net on the RHS and one accross the boot nearest the tailgate.
-
I've gone a bit net-tatsic. I have the 3 pc boot net kit, but bought a further kit too, so I have nets left and right, front and rear, and boot floor. Fixing the fastner into the boot trim only requires one hole to be drilled and one screw to be fastned...piece of cake! Oh, I also have the net that goes under the parcel shelf. And the special velcro in storage pouches for the left and right of the boot. I'm amazed at how handy they all are.

I can assure you, it's wasn't rust. I use the car...and use the brakes fairly hard...but it's a road car so doesn't see trackdays etc. The disc surfaces were perfect...front and rear. There was run-out on the front discs. I know what you mean about rear disc corrosion especially on the inside faces, and it's not just vRSs that suffer......both my Golf GTI and 911 suffer in the same way if you put them away wet after washing without taking it round the block to dry the brakes.
-
My SE just had it's first service...and had the front brake discs replaced under warranty. Used as a 'normal' run-about car...not driven hard or brake tested...and under 7000 miles. At least they were replaced under warranty.

Correct! How many people who are telling us the resistor does nothing, have actually been and bought one, and tried it? I bought one...expecting nothing...and got a surprise. It works. Nowhere near as much as a tuning box or re-map (obviously) but you do get an increase in low end torque.

Sorry...just deleting a duplicate post.

I have to agree with you about the plug in Fuel Temperature mod...I bought one a few years ago from Germany...I've tried it on both a 1.4 PD and a 1.9 PD and it does indeed work. The 1.4 PD without wouldn't break traction in 2nd...with it, it would easily (Audi A2) The 1.9 PD with it felt NOTICABLY quicker low down. I've not dynod either...but from the 100+ dyno runs I've done over many cars, you don't feel a handful of BHP or lb-ft...so it's doing something meaningful. The only downside on the 1.9 PD was that I ended up with an intermittant really rough idle when the car was part way between cold and normal operating temperature...I removed the 'resistor' and it went away. But, it works...that is for sure.

I have Pirelli Snowsport 195/45/16s on my winter 16" wheels and they are just fine. I used them last year on my Golf GTI, as I needed 16" wheels to cover the 312mm front brakes...and I could drive wherever I wanted where the 215/40/16 toyo T1-Rs wouldn't get me out of the driveway before. I'll be popping them onto the vRS any day now... This proves you can get a sensibly sized 16" snow type for a vRS...and the tyre wear isn't an issue really, as you'll take them off around Easter when the temperature is rising.

Proper pics of my VRS with new rear lights :)
Ess_Three replied to jasc1988's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
No you won't.. The MOT doesn't call for self leveling nor washers to be fitted, however, new cars supplied with them must have both. I've had HIDs in my Mk3 GTI for the last 5 years and it's passed the MOT every year without fail...and that's at a VW dealership. The only thing the car will fail on, is if the beam pattern is not acceptable, too refracted or distorted...which can happen when you fit HID elements to lenses/reflectors not designed to work with them. If the lights are 'projector' types (like the Hella twin headlights on my GTI) then the beam pattern will be unaffected...on a Fabia, it may...and it'll be that you can be failed on, not the actual fitting of HIDs. -
my se's show plates,you like ?
Ess_Three replied to oilburninnut's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Nope...the newer cars don't have a battery cover...but they do still have an engine cover. Mine doesn't have a battery cover either...but I'd like to fit one. Not even sure if they can easily be retro-fitted. Anybody know? -
I did mine the first day I had the car... Added a PD160 inlet pipe too. No negative effects so far....even in heavy rain.

Re-coding a 2001 Fabia with VAG-Com
Ess_Three replied to Ess_Three's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
That's the one... I tried scanning it for ages...but couldn't connect to 46. Maybe a problem with the comms link wiring...as it just wouldn't find it. All other modules were fine, just no luck with mod 46. Ahh well..he'll have to do without. -
I was trying to re-code a 2001 Fabia 1.9TDI Eleganz (or something similar) today and I couldn't access the Module 46, to set the one touch locking, bleep on arming etc. Any ideas why not? VAG-Com found the other ECUs (ABS, Engine etc) but couldn't find Mod 46. Do the earlier Fabias need to be treated differently when it comes to re-coding? Any help greatly appreciated...
