  1. Hi, did you find out? I see no one has replied, but I would be interested in doing this to my 2007 (Jan) Octavia Classic 1.9pd TDI. thanks
  2. Hi Just tried to fit above using to very good Youtube intall; And the very good instructions on this forum. and a 3.5mm phono socket. Only to discover there is no plastic holder to support the wire set (p/n:000979010E) so I stopped fitting this as I am concerned that the conection might free themselves from the back of the Stream and cause a short. Does anyone know if I can get just the plastic holder & if I can do you know the part number? thanks
  3. Had this on my Octavia last June whilst on hols near Brighton (I live in Jersey) got it fixed by a major tyre company who fixed it for free! I was very impress by the tyre co. Never had this on any other cars that I have had, the stone was in the front offside.
  4. Thanks Ramonford and Hauptmann, that is exactly what I wanted to know. Many thanks
  5. I live in Jersey, I was quoted nearly £500.00 just for the cambelt change! We don't have vat here, so £395 inc the water pump and vat, so seems a good deal to me!
  6. No just the Cambelt, but thanks for the info on the water pump & labour.
  7. Hi Anybody know if Skoda have recommended times to change parts for there Skoda dealers? I am particually interested to know how long in hours to change the following on my 1.9TDI PD (BXE engine) car; Cambelt change Water pump change, if changed at the same time as the cambelt. Many thanks
  8. Hi I thought you might like to know that Citygate of Colindale, London are doing a special deal of £299 for cabelt change. Above was for my Octavia 1.9TDI PD (BXE engine) new Jan. 2007 car, your model might be a different cost. Hope this helps a few peps! Today I was quoted between £550 & 364.92 from other Skoda dealers!!!
  9. Can't help I am afraid, as I live in Jersey & our max speed is 40mph! Make 2/3 trips a year to UK mainland - next UK trip April'11,cannot say I have noticed this, mine is a 1.9tdi with dsg, 33k miles, new Jan'07. What does you local dealer say about this?
  10. If I were you I would phone Skoda UK & give them you vin number to cofirm..............only takes a few mins, I found them very helpfull.
  11. OK, the man from Skoda says for my vin number, every 4 years or 95000 miles - whichever comes first. It might be different for your vin number, please check with Skoda UK , customer service. thanks
  12. I phoned Skoda UK (Customer Services) today at 4:30, the gent who I spoke to said the cambelt (toothed belt) change is VIN number specific & he will phone me tomorrow once he has checked with a technical specialst. I will drop a line here once he has advised me on my car vin!! thanks all!
  13. Many thanks for the replies above, as I live in Jersey where the speed limit is 40mph (my car has done 32850 miles) I am wondering if Skoda or there dealers are using this as a money spinner - playing on peoples minds etc................ I will get mine done very soon - I have exprianced 2 cars which were both under warranty - one only a few months old (Honda Civic) & a Volvo 740 with 80k odd miles on it. I was just wondering if anyone had exprianced a cambelt etc break on a car so young with quite a low milage - after all when the car was built and the service book that came with my car clearly states a much higher milage/years to change,so I feel Skoda are putting there clients at extra servicing exspence because of there manufacting parts with a much lower MTBF than originally quoted somewhere between 2007 and whenever they changed the recommended time to renew this part, the Honda was so new I think it was just bad luck etc.... I also feel there (Skoda) quality of certain parts is lower than other manufactures, 2 examples are listed below. 1 - The rubberised paint on my electric window switches has come off, I have seen this on other Octavias, leaving white switches, not good on a car so young. My wifes Honda Jazz electric switches & my mums Hyundai Getz are good as new but both are 2/3 years older with 10 to 20k more miles on them. 2 - Seat fabric on my Classic (the black or grey sections)are very easily stained & look as though they are 12 to 15 years old, again the Jazz and the Getz are like new and easy to clean. I know above are minor, but it is all part of the ownership expriance of a car. Thanks anyway.
  14. Interesting, it's Sunday 6/2/11 @ 21:28 & 118 people have view this and no replies I am a bit suprised to see no one has a 1.9TDI (BXE) Octavia or am I expecting a reply to soon? Have to admit though today this site was being updated, thanks for doing to site update - it seems a bit faster etc.
  15. Hi All I am wondering if anyone on this forum had exprianced a cambelt failure on a 2007 Octavia or younger, fitted with a 1.9TDI PD (BXE engine) car? If your cambelt or pullies etc. has failed on a 1.9tdi (BXE) at what milage did it fail? This will be interesting to us all! thanks
  16. My 1.9TDI Classic Estate (Jan'07) groaned whenever I opened the back door - for several months. Tried oiling the moving bits, except the shiny bits on the struts. Above did not help. Then finally discover yesterday that the peg that is screwed into the car body on the driver's side was loose, because the peg was under load when the door was open, did not appear loose. Groan or creak was caused by the bottom plastic bit of the strut rubbing on the car body when rear door being opened/closed!! Peg tightened up & now like new!
  17. Many thanks for your help bunglebear32. It was Grey Gables Skoda who quoted me £380, as my relies live nearer Witney I think I will go there. Just need to work out if I risk waiting tlll the 1st week of April to get this job done!! Gulp...................... Thanks
  18. Thanks for all you help/replies, I will give Parkview in Reading a call, my engine is a 1.9tdi pd. vRS_Pagey , what is DV!? Many thanks all, I wished I could find someone to do it for £200 or at worst £300! I don't mind driving upto 50 miles of Oxford..................
  19. Hi All Sorry to be boring - I know this has been discussed a lot here, but I was wondering what the current position is. My Octavia 2 was new Jan'07 & has done 32500 miles, I live in Jersey so mostly done here with 1 or 2 trips to UK mainland or France. Local dealer wants nearly £500 (!Gulp) for Toothed belt (or Cambelt) + pullies / water pump etc. Is above fair? We do not have VAT in Jersey! I am going to visit relies near Oxford early April, so phoned 2 dealers there and they said £380 & £395 inc. VAT & would only fit/quote a new water pump if there were any signes of leaks etc, my local lot said they fit a new water pump in the £500 approx price. VAT at 20% = about £75 odd, makes Jersey very expensive!!! Do I dare wait, given my low milage 40mph in Jersey? Any advise would be very greatfully received..................... Many thanks ps, do any of you live in the Oxford/Reading area and which dealer would you recomend?
  20. Just out of interest I bought a passenger side wiper from Tesco last June, and it seems very good, only £3.00 at the time! I am resident in Jersey so dont do much motorway driving, but it survived our recent unusual dump of snow & low temp.
  21. Not sure really, but maybe if you take out the headlamp assy. you might be able to reach offending item - I have not tried this, just a thought! User manual says headlamp assy is easy to removeto change the bulb, if you have not got the user manual you (& anyone else for that matter) can download i from www.skoda.co.uk
  22. Not sure if this has been said above (I'm short on time etc) but see if the VAG group have on or contact cust. svrvs at Skoda UK and ask them why they have put you in this position - if the pressure on them as well as the dealer. Could also try eurocarparts.com, see if they have one and tey and get dealer/skoda to pay for it ...................................if not court action might follow.
  23. Hi, not sure if there is some some technical reason to use one of these, but below might be worth looking into; http://www.superskoda.com/dk/Skoda/OCTAVIA-II/Octavia-II-09-11-Facelift-winter-grille-cover I have exactly the same problem with my Jan'07 Classic 1.9tdi dsg, estate. Might get one my self, but not so much a problem down here in Jersey.................
  24. I to am struggling with this as well I have a Octavia Classic (Jan'07) and also bought a remote upgrade kit from ebay from www.ultimatecarparts.co.uk. So I contacted a few local leccies in Jersey but they were unable to help as there was no wiring diagram available for Octavia 2 + it is CanBus. Note, afterwards I contacted below but because there was no local lecci who wanted to install the kit I did not proceed - but they were very helpfull; Catherine Myatt SPAL Automotive UK Limited [email protected] SPAL Automotive UK Limited Unit 3 Great Western Business Park, McKenzie Way, Tolladine Road, Worcester, WR4 9PT, United Kingdom. TEL: 01905 613 714 FAX: 01905 610 725 WEB: www.spalautomotive.co.uk EMAIL: [email protected] I would be interested in which upgrade kit you got and how you remove the door card as I cannot see how this is done - note my car only has the 2 front electric windows!! thanks in advance ps, I am amazed that any manufacture is building cars without remote central door looking, arrn't you? I would rather do without certain things (rather have a basic radio/cd for example) fitted in in the most basic Octavia 2 and would very much prefer to have remote central door locking!
