  1. I went to new alloys and GY Ultragrip 8s - Very good indeed (in fact better than summer SC3 that they replaced in terms of ride comfort). Expensive option tho' but IMO worth it.
  2. Another vote for Goodyear Ultragrip 8 tyres - Went the whole hog and bought new alloys aswell as tyres - The Ultragrips are quieter on the motorway than my rather worn (22k miles) summer Conti SC3's. Fuel economy down about 3mpg. Funky tread pattern up about 100%.
  3. Now with winter tyres/alloys!

  4. The S car was more than likely auto to get a good getaway. Having run a B7 RS4 for 5 years, you need to by truly committed to get a full on drups (ie its fun and noisy)
  5. Quick update - Reformatted 32GB SD Card again - This time using FAT32 and 64Kb clusters (using Windows 7). Speed is now incredible, fraction of a second delay in resuming, searching and playing tracks (including hour long MP3's).
  6. For motorway driving I get a precise 50mpg. The magic rpm is 2100. No special diesel. Pace and frugality very happy
  7. Glad to hear that the fix is helping (if not solving) the problem for you. Class 10 according to the label - purchased from Amazon
  8. A possible fix for the lardy 32GB SD problem that Ive tried (and seems to work so far (3000 tracks)) is to format the SD card as FAT32 and select the cluster size to 32KB rather than using the default. I've tried this for a week or so and initial boot up time is a couple of seconds and track seek is only a second. Worth a try if you're struggling with these large SD Cards.
  9. Just to update this thread - I VCDS scanned a colleagues vRS which has had the firmware upgrade, and does work well with 32GB SD Cards. Looking at the log, it would suggest that Hardware revision F Bolero's updated to firmware 54 solve SD card reading issues, however revision G Bolero's updated to firmware 30 continue to have issues in terms of lardy playback performance. Output from Bolero Revision F, Firmware 54. 10. Looks to me from A pillar back a car based on VW Mkiv Bora - Quite like it really. Though I hope the name holds out to some performance version....
  11. Yes, I have. My Butt dyno reckons about 200bhp and around 280-290lbft. Tho' Id reckon a standard car is about 180bhp to start with.
  12. I had my Bluefin swapped twice in the last 12 months (last time in Feb this year to the vRS) - Superchips may have changed policy? Did you uninstall the map from your old car (that used to be the reason they charge nearly full price).
  13. Had my car serviced today and also had the Bolero firmware updated, looks like mine is a different version to Simons (OP). This hasnt fixed the long delay in reading 32GB SD Cards. Looking at the photos posted by Blackspaven and Skoda99 - Both of them have a revision F Bolero and I have a revision G unit.... Also the yellow sticker seems to be an information note as well, Ive not taken the vents out but I would guess mine has a yellow sticker with 29S on it, whereas the other Bolero's pictured have 10S/13S. Does the plot thicken?
  14. My Bolero + 32GB SD Card + 3000 tracks is not the most reliable, in fact drives me nuts (it has intermittent problems seeking when MP3's are DJ Mixes that are 1hr+). Many thanks for posting Simon - will be asking my local Skoda dealer to update the firmware the next time my car is due a service.
  15. Had Secret Santas (sessantas) on my old B7 RS4, completely ruined the ride due to a very soft sidewall design (OE was Pirelli P Zero Rossos). My last Alpina only ever had PS2's which were very good. Tyres very subjective, so for my 2p worth. Michelin Pilot Sports or BF Goodrich G Force Profiler (owned by Michelin). My reasoning is that the jigs created by all other tyre manufacturers utilise quite large sections of rubber in the mould, whereas Michelin/BFG use hundred of sections. Sidewall spring rates are more consistent and uniform, less likely to have heavy spots/light spots.
  16. MTM have an awesome B7 RS4 supercharger conversion. In a nutshell a TUV approved tuner, so tend to give minimum power figures (if thats a consideration) Kim Collins at QST is the contact/reseller in the UK of MTM products.
  17. I switched from Admiral to quote me happy. £285 Fully comp/prot NCD (early 40's, 1 claim (insurance write off), no points, full NCD)
  18. And there's me thinking my mod wishlist was complete Now added....... :sun:
  19. I got my vRS exactly same time and condition as you. As you can see from my fuelly tag Im getting an accurate 46mpg from my daily commute and longer regular trips to see family. Fuel wise I have been using Tesco, Sainsbury's and currently using Esso which seems better but could be that the ambient temp has risen. I've played with tyre pressures and now +0.2bar on front and rear which made a very small difference. - I dont think the Continental SC2 are particularly good for economy or handling (I'll switch to Michelin Pilot Sports as soon as the fronts have expired) My own opinion is that the car is geared exactly for the european market, ie travel at 110kph and 130 kph seems provide balance between economy and progress. I've not yet found the torque sweet spot which was very apparent on the PD130 MkIV Golf I ran some years ago.
  20. Yep same boat - I have to pay for fuel and do silly mileage so for me every penny counts.... Here's my effort from a couple of weeks ago....
  21. Thanks for posting the pic Moley - Looks like the perfect drop for my requirements. :sun:
  22. Glad you got it sorted . APR are mentioned nearly every month in the US mag European Car as the preferred software tuner for VAG products.
  23. I'm interested and based in West Midlands - Would prefer P-Torque in Wolverhampton.
  24. Same experience as GriffoVRS My vRS has just passed 2,700 miles of mainly motorway miles - Just like any other diesel car that I have owned - Cold weather affects economy I get with my 100 mile commute to work.
