Ive already got 2 remote keys, but need just a plain key (without immobiliser) as im planing a few kitesurfing trips, and need a basic key on rope to put round my neck when i surf. I assume a basic key can be cut, so i can simply use this to open and close the car? What documents would i need with me to get such a key cut from locksmiths? Thanks Dan

Poor brakes - worth upgrading?
Dan Almond replied to wiffola's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Im in a similar position myself, although dont want to upgrade for 312's... Ive suffered quite bad brake fade recently, and i think my rear discs are warped. Now, im thinking of getting ds2500 pads and grooved discs for the front. For the rear, would OEM pads and discs suffice, or would i need to upgrade them to ds2500 and grooved discs I assume its the front pads that suffer from brake fade, and not the rears? -
Engline Management Light just come on.

After a google search ive found these... 18061/P1653/005715 - Please check DTC Memory of ABS Controller 18057/P1649/005705 - Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from ABS Controller Does anyone know what they mean, and how i can get it sorted. Bear in mind i dont have vag-com. I only have a Shark performance sts device. If i clear all codes with the sts, will this get rid of the engine management light? Thanks Dan -
Not had a problem with the car since ownership. Tonight, i had the EML come on, with the handbrake light flashing and beeping... Got the car home, seems to drive ok. Plugged in my shark STS and have 2 fault codes stored. 18061 18057 Does anyone know what these relate to, and does anyone have a link as to where i can find out what they are online? Thanks Dan

Couldnt help myself, but from reading how old you are on the 'How old are you?' thread, all i can say is................ you dirty boy! Fair play though!

No probs mate. You only get one chance it at really, and you might as well get it done right first time round.

All ill say is 'better to be on the safe side'. My opinion, id leave it longer than 24 hours. Why not clay etc the whole car leaving the bumper (or where ever the chips are), and clay the bumper the following weekend. The only way to make them un-notiocable (to an extent) is to wetsand them down after (providing you laquer sufficiently over the chips). Then machine out the wetsanding marks.

Ive got a shark stage 1 remap on my fabia, and i can get 60+ regularly. Travelled from Salisbury to Cardiff, and got 60mpg there, and 63 on the way back. That was with 3 people in the car too. So its not totally unbeliveable. However, as you say, long term is a different matter.

Id like to believe it wont need painting. You would however, have to find a competant detailer to correct it though.

Sounds ok. I purchased a 54 plate vrs at 69000 miles 3 months ago. That also had the leather done, and cost me £5000 privately

Can you still see 'gray primer underneath' if you run any sort (autoglym super resin polish) over it? Ive noticed, its common for a scratch to apear white after it has been scratched. If it is still 'white' after polish, youll need to get it painted. If the polish helps, it could be sanded back and polished...

Can anyone tell me how to remove the front number plate surround?
