  1. We get more wear on the outer edge, I always go to a very good tyre shop, buy the best tyres and have all the tracking etc done. I just think yetis eat tyres.
  2. To be honest, I don't know as we haven't looked for a while. I wish I had.. I'm hoping to find out whether they fiddled with the relevant parts when they did their 8 hour job on the dmf/ clutch.
  3. Our coolant light came on today, and the level was indeed very low. The book says either it's a leak or something's up as the level shouldn't go down. Last autumn we had to have the dmf and clutch replaced, and the temp sensor for cabin temp. I'm wondering if the coolant system/ pump had to be disconnected in order to replace the dmf / clutch? Of course, it started raining today and we couldn't put anything under car to check for leaks. It's almost certain that the garage will say it's nothing to do with their previous work, and of course it might not be but I'd like to go armed with a bit of knowledge if anyone has any thoughts? We don't think its as likely to be the pump at present because after topping up abd driving, the temp sensor has gone up to 90 degrees and stayed there, and no other light came on. Thanks in advance..
  4. We found the car stalled quite a bit to begin with, very unforgiving, but we got used to it fairly quickly. However, we had to have a new DMF before 30,000 miles so I think the above explanation sounds very plausible.
  5. I had an intermittent fault with the passenger door not unlocking, they replaced the wiring looms (straight ones) with the newer 'u' shaped ones though car was out of warranty. Given that the new ones looked very different I'm assuming there was a problem with the design which they have subsequently addressed.
  6. When you open the door after rain, a bit of water travels along the door seal and can deposit on floor inside the car - I take it it's not this happening? I have often notice slight wetness on rubber mats. I hope its not actually a leak, we had that in our golf and despite 'getting it fixed' at garage it never went.
  7. One thing I've always thought disappointing with the yeti was the demisting, the condensation was so heavy sometimes it ran down the window. However we recently thought the heating was gradually getting worse, then couldn't get any heat (about four years old) and turned out the cabin temp sensor was faulty. Once replaced, we got better heat than we remember ever getting, and demisting seems better too. I also think the hotter you get the car before parking for the night, the more moisture around in the morning.
  8. yeah so was I until it hit 4 years old.. take a look at extended warranties :-) however given the choice I'd prob still go for the Yeti, what's the ground clearance like on a tiguan? I can't believe how much the yeti has gone up in price though..
  9. hi, thanks for the suggestion and for confirming my feeling that the car shouldn't be having so many problems at so low a mileage - I got goodwill for the door electrics, and for some of the dmf and clutch replacement payment, but when I collected the car yesterday from this latest job they said I didn't get any goodwill. I find it strange how they decide these things. I'm going to put together a proper letter outlining all the things that have gone wrong. also, the replacement of the throttle control carried out yesterday has now cured the sound like engine overrun (which is why I took the car in originally and when they changed the dmf.) I'm relieved it's sorted.
  10. No, it's 4 1/2 years old, just gone over 30,000 miles - all the problems came after warranty ran out! We're pretty sure we weren't offered extended warranty or we would have gone for it.
  11. Ok, they have said its the throttle valve control that needs replacing.
  12. As an update, the thing wot 'as gone wrong now is the throttle valve control. I agree with you, Arkaig, I love my yeti, only I'm starting to waver a bit now, this year (first year out of warranty) it's had a lot of problems for only 30,000 miles on the clock..
  13. Does sound like the beginning of a wheel bearing going, though I would go and ask somewhere that does tyres if you're not sure the garage has had a proper look.
  14. The issue I sometimes get is that I can't open the door to get the engine on in the first place, as the doors freeze shut easily. I have to use warm water on the rubber seals to get it open. Haven't risked it on the glass vey often though, as I'm worried I'll crack the windscreen..
  15. The dpf light has not come on, only the control for exhaust light. forgot to say, we have also very recently had a faulty sensor replaced for the in car heating, it was misreading the temp inside and keeping it way too cold. I don't suppose it has had anything to do with it though.
