  1. has anyone who replied to this post ever considered buying a used car?is a 2 year old luxury car not a better option than a brand new standard car.if you read the first post you will see that that the dealer tried to charge me for a new clutch which i reported faulty in first week of ownership.at the end of the day is the point of a brand new not about reliability and peace of mind?and for you guys who ask why i posted this, why dont you read the post properly.i thought this was an open forum.i didnt realise it was the skoda appreciation society.seems to me that your trying to convince yourselves that skodas are a good car.for those of you who tried to help me thanks.to the rest of you im away for a drive in my new e class.see ya.
  2. im not trying to offend anyone on this forum.why would i want to do that?its just with all the first rate reviews i read before i bought it, i thought i couldnt go wrong and i wanted to know if i was alone in not enjoying this car.not being able to adjust the drivers seat to get comfy is a bit difficult to swallow when your sitting in it for 10 hrs at a time.why is it so far off the floor anyway?i test drove an elegance so maybe the higher spec has more adjustment.i dont know.its soo uncomfortable that im getting rid of it.as i said previously the mk1 superb was far more comfy and quicker and that was the basic model with the same engine.i do notice that most of these replys are from 170bhp dsg drivers.is it perhaps that the top of the range superb is the only good one to drive.at that price point it would need to be damn good.
  3. i dont doubt the superb is appealing compared to fords, vauxhalls, citroens etc and the cost of buying and running one is good.i also find them nice looking inside and out but all the reviews i have read praise these cars beyond belief.to compare this car to a 5 series bmw or an e class merc is just unrealistic.the bmw is a great driving car while the merc is just a dream to drive and sit in.there really is no comparison.am i really the only person who does not like this car?btw whoever replied diesel is diesel, have you driven a modern diesel car?i would not entertain a petrol car.much prefer the way a diesel engine drives.apart from my one of course.lol and also im not commenting on elegance models or 2.0 ltr 170bhp or dsg models.and i didnt buy an octavia because im a 6 foot tall taxi driver abd they are too small.
  4. have driven new superb from new for over a year now as a taxi and i have hated every minute of it.i cant believe why this car is so well regarded and why the reviews have been so favourable.i have even seen reviews comparing this car to an e class merc.are you kidding or what?the only comparison is that they are both called motorcars.yes its cheaper than most if not all its competitors to buy and run and yes the leg room in the back is unbelievable but as the person paying for it i only really care what its like to sit in the front and thats the problem.the drivers seat and cabin space is not spacious at all and the seat is far too high with very little adjustment.the car doesnt feel big when your driving it.in fact the car doesnt feel like anything when your driving it.i mean whats to like?i have the 1.9tdi and its just so boring.i would imagine the newer 1.6 derv is much the same.all the power is at the start of the pedal and dissapears almost immediatly.im afraid to overtake in mine.and the car feels really light for such a big car which means your getting no feedback from what the car is doing on the road.it understeers very badly and feels so stiff in every way.its so uninvolving.i think the previous superb was a much better and much more comfortable drivers car.i cannot find any bad reviews on these cars anywhere so this will probably go down badly with most of you but it would be interesting to know if anyone else feels the same as i do.surely im not the only one.oh and just to finish off,why are the dealers trying to and mostly succeeding making people pay for new clutches when they know the dmf is causing them to go.mine was faulty from day one and they still tried to charge me for a new one.it might surprise you how many people pay up for it.
  5. contacted the dealer and they confirmed that this was normal.apparently these engines use almost a litre of oil every 6000 miles when they are new.got a litre of oil in local garage for £7 so not too bad having read about people paying £15 for a litre.dealer said to use 5w30 synthetic oil but most of the motor factors said 5w40 was the recommended type.more confusion.
  6. bought a brand new superb 1.9 tdi 7 weeks ago.today the engine oil level warning light came on.when i dipped it the oil was at the bottom level on the dipstick.the car has only 6400 miles on it and i drive sensibly.can this be normal or do i nave a potential problem?
  7. i have the same car.its 4 weeks old now and from second week on i have noticed a shudder on the biting point when starting off in first gear.something is definately not right.i have heard taxi drivers talking about clutches on this model having to be replaced at around 18,000 miles.im no mechanic but a brand new car should not be doing this.it seems to be intermittent which is a bit odd..drivers electric window doesnt work properly either and dash lights seem to brighten up and dim down automatically.not a great start for such a hyped up car
  8. just thought id ask, does anyone sometimes have trouble selecting 3rd gear in this car.mine is only 3 weeks old and sometimes when i try to put it into 3rd gear it just wont go in.i have to pull the gear stick back to neutral and try again before it goes in.also does anyone know how to disengage the seatbelt alarm.im a taxi driver and when the front seat passenger doesnt put their belt on the alarm does my head in.is there a fuse or something that can be removed?i know its there for a reason but im sure other taxi drivers can relate to this.
  9. if i slide the seat back anymore i wont reach the pedals
  10. just got new superb s model yesterday and after reading all the reviews and hearing all the compliments about space i cant believe that i cant get comfortable in the drivers seat.the seat does not adjust downwards anywhere near as much as the one in the old superb.also there is no control for seat pitch like in the old model.and most annoying is that my left leg is always resting against the hard plastic on the centre console which is really uncomfortable.also the seat seems to be miles off the floor.i know ive only just got the car and probably need more time to get comfy but am i missing an adjustment or what cause im really dissapointed and worried that i have chosen the wrong car.am i on my own with this problem?
