  1. I'm after someone to put my mind at rest. My vrs is very noisy on certain road surfaces to the point of having to shout!! It has low profile tyres so it could be that I guess but wondered if anyone else has the same complaint. Also my door handles creak like mad and the dash vibrates when I pull away. Is this normal?
  2. I recently bought a fabia VRS from this garage. Firstly let me point out that perhaps my innocence in the world of car buying is the reason for my dissapointment and that Mark, the sales guy has been nothing but helpful, courteous and quick to reply. The manager, not so much. Within the first week the pipe from the turbo blew off and I had to be recovered, they replaced the pipe and checked over the car again, noting no faults. I have owned the car for 9 weeks. Covered approx. 3000 miles in that time. The car is noisy but i think that is a sporty car trait however the discs and pads at the rear sounded rough within a few weeks. On inspection they are heavily scored and corroded around the outside. I took it to my local skoda dealer and they said that the discs would need changing. I told this to Fred Rees garages and they said that it was a wear and tear issue. I then returned to the local Skoda Dealer and had them perform a used car health check as they would if selling the car themselves. They completed documentation to the effect that the discs were in need of urgent replacement as were the front wishbone bushes. They also said they did not think that it was something I could have done in the time I have had the car or the mileage. I then emailed all this documentation to Fred Rees garages and to Ralph Rees, the manager. He still stood by the fact that it was wear and tear and they would not contribute to the cost which was £350. Next I went to Skoda UK with my complaint showing them the documents from my local dealer stating there were faults and the check sheet that Fred Rees had completed on sale. Skoda UK asked for photos of the discs and pads and had a technician look at them. They came back with the reply that it was a wear and tear issue and would not help with the costs. I had to phone and email several times as Skoda would not call me back or email me. The upshot is that they will not contribute nor will Fred Rees garages even though one Skoda dealer states that I could not have made the discs like this yet Fred Rees state I did.....An independent garage also checked them and stated they are in a condition that would fail an MOT. Skoda UK explained that they could not prove that I hadn't caused the wear, they stated that whilst all Skoda approved garages have standards to abide by, one dealer may think the work needs doing, another may not. In my opinion this renders they used Skoda checks useless as they are open to individual interpretation. Skoda UK said it could be because the VRS is a fast car which means a lot of heavy braking. I am also still missing the 2nd key from Fred Rees which they posted out to me as I took the wrong one home. I posted their key back, I have yet to recieve mine 8 weeks on. Like I said, Nice sales man however my check has not been checked properly and they do not honour that, nor do Skoda UK and now I have to fork out £350 to replace brakes 9 weeks after buying it. Gutted. Might sell it and buy something from a massive franchise rather than believeing small garages are more honorable and attentive to customer service, the same goes for Skoda UK.
  3. I have recently purchased a Fabia vrs with a symphony cd stereo. It also has a nokia car kit and ck1w Bluetooth thing built in and an external speaker somewhere. How can a get a line in for my iPhone and use wireless Bluetooth still? Is it possible. Halfords suggested rip it all put and install a parrott system but that's mega bucks!! Any ideas
  4. Hello. I'm looking at getting a Fabia vrs and deciding between two cars. First one is: May 06 18000 miles Leather pack vrs seats Black magic 12 months warranty skoda 6 months tax and tank of fuel £7700 but 5hours drive from me!! Or Silver fabia vrs July 06 38000 miles Cruise control 12 months warranty £7150 and in same town as me Hmmm which one. It seems like a no brained but which one will retain value more? Is it worth paying the extra for seats and mileage? Cambelt will be done on both
  5. No, no. I bought the car at 44000. I have checked it every couple of weeks however it was servuced prior to me buying at so i assumed there should be no reason for the oil level to drop that much within 6000 miles.
  6. I have A 1.9tdi octavia and a couple of things have happened. The service light states it's due in 2000 miles and it will have covered 50000 miles then, what is due? The other thing is the low oil light came on (solid Amber) but it was serviced about 6000 miles ago, does it go through oil that quick?
  7. Hello. I'm trying to choose between a 55 plate octavia 2.0 tdi 65000 miles for 6895 or a 1.9 tdi octavia 07 plate with 42000 for 7k. Both hav 12 months skoda warranty. Will the 1.9 tdi remap make me grin like the 2.0 tdi already does?
  8. Hello I recently bought a golf sdi 06 which is lovely but a bit slow. Im thinking of buying an octavia and a decent garage has two octavias for sale. one is 1.9tdi ambient 06 plate and the other is a 2.0tdi ambient late 05 both up for 6995. Which is the better engine, i know the 1.9 is better fuel economy but the 2.0 has 6 speed and better hp. Any ideas
  9. forgot to add: full service history (dealer) too
  10. Hi. My brother suggested I see what people think on this car I have seen, octavia 03 plate. 1.9 tdi, (8v, 110hp) 54,000. Great condition. garage wants 3995 for it and they will service it and do cam belt change. I have two questions; 1)Is this a good price? 2)what would be a realistic amount to knock off if i did the cambelt myself (via my local garage) thanks
