  1. Nice positive write-up on the Rapid Spaceback from EVO: http://www.evo.co.uk/skoda/16548/skoda-rapid-spaceback-review-hidden-talents-from-value-hatch
  2. Thanks Fred. That's what I suspected and wanted confirmed. Seems like the brochure is wrong. Cheers - Andy
  3. Hi, thanks for that. That is my understanding of the differences between the pre/post FL models as well. The difference I am referring to is that with the 'approved' optional spare wheel. The pre-FL model has an (almost) full size spare that takes away about 25% of the available luggage space, the current brochure seems to suggest that the spare for the FL model does not take away any of the advertised luggage capacity (that above the boot floor anyway).
  4. I'll post here rather than start another thread. The current Yeti brochure (page 42/43) says that the luggage capacity with the space saver spare wheel is 416 litres. Is this correct or is it a typo and they meant to say 'without'? I know that with the pre-FL Yeti the luggage space was reduced to 322 litres with the official full size spare. I'm hoping that if the current brochure is correct you can have the space saver spare without impinging on the available luggage space. Any info appreciated - Andy
  5. Feedback from speaking to 2 agents. Varies from there being little leeway on late service to 1000 miles & 1 month which seems sensible and in line with other manufacturers. The Used Car Service plan can be bought for any Skoda car and I could buy the plan and have a service straight away.
  6. Yep, have now found something in writing from VW that says variable servicing gives up to 30000km (18.6k miles) or 2 years for diesel engines in the EU. Must assume that it will be the same for Skoda. Still trying to get through to Mitchells.
  7. Hi again. If I were buying a car where the servicing regime has been followed correctly I would expect it to have the balance of the Skoda 3 year warranty left regardless of where I bought it. Maybe not. This is the service plan I'm referring to: http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintenance/service-plans , half way down the page 'Used Car Service plan'. Cheers - Andy
  8. Hi Llanigraham Thanks for the reply. I understood from a post further up that variable limit was 20K/2years max (it/I might be wrong) so there's a possibility that the vehicle have only just come due for it's first service (it's actually 2 years and 1 week old, not as I posted above). I'll need to look at the service booklet and indicator if/when I view the car. Also, on the service plan query, I understand that you can only get the offer through a Skoda dealer but I was wondering can you get it for a car you already own (i.e. purchased elsewhere), or, can you only buy the plan along with an approved used car purchased from a Skoda agent. I posted my initial post above thinking that I wouldn't be able to get any info from Skoda until Monday but I've just noticed that my local agent (Mitchells - E-Port) have their service department open AM tomorrow so I can ring them in the morning and ask these questions. Nonetheless, I still appreciate the info given and any more that might come. It's all food for thought! Thanks again. Cheers - Andy
  9. Hi I assume that there's a little leeway on the mileage/time that cars have to be serviced to maintain the Skoda 3 year warranty cover. Can anyone tell me what the leeway is? I might be looking at a used Yeti that is outside the dealer network over the weekend. The car is on about 10K and is 2 years and 2 weeks old. I assume it is on variable servicing and should be serviced at 20K/2years. If the car has not already been serviced, (I'm guessing it won't have been), how long would I have to get it serviced by Skoda to maintain the warranty cover? Also (probably a question for a dealer rep) could I go to a Skoda agent and take up the 'Used Car Service plan' offer or can it only be bought with a car through a dealer? Cheers - Andy
  10. Thanks all for your replies. Apologies for raising a well worn topic but I had done a quick search of the forum using both the search facility above and Google but somehow didn't find the correct thread. The link provided by Brijo above was where I got the .jpg from, I knew it was here somewhere!. Thanks again - Andy
  11. Hi I have a .jpg I've kept from somewhere (probably here) that lists the Yeti boot space to be 322 litres with the raised floor that comes from having a spare wheel. It seem quite a reduction from 416 litres to me, is this for a full size spare or a spacesaver. If it's for a full size wheel can anyone tell me what the boot volume is with a spacesaver wheel? Cheers - Andy
  12. Hi all Thank you all very much for your contributions and to Llanigraham for his kind offer of help which won't be necessary but is very much appreciated. Thank you all - well done Briskoda. I have already visited a couple of dealers and I'm impressed that both of them have offered to let me take a new demonstrator on my own for a few hours even after I pointed out that I'd likely be looking a used rather than new. They both said it didn't matter. Excellent! As I mentioned earlier, I had preferred the idea of a relaxed trial using a hire car rather than a shorter term test drive from an agent due mostly to my preferring not let my Mum think that her needs might be influencing my buying decision. I'd just hoped to have a different car for a couple of days carrying on as normal to see how she got on. It's not that important but it would have been preferable, I'll just take a normal dealer test drive if necessary. I'm a bit tied up with other things at the moment and might also have a couple of other types of car to look at (Golf Plus/Altea or possibly compact estate). I'll keep you posted on my Yeti progress and will probably have a few more questions during the decision process. You'll no doubt you'll see me rattling around the forum if I get one. Thanks very much again to all - Andy :)
  13. Hi Thanks for your reply. At least I now know that I'm unlikely to find one on day hire and it's not that I'm not looking in the right place! Yep, I'm looking for a longer test period mainly to check whether my octogenarian Mum can get in/out. I don't want to make a fuss by turning up with a car in a hurry and asking her to try it out, I just wanted to turn up one day when we're going somewhere and see how she gets on. Thanks again - Andy.
  14. Hi Does anyone know of anywhere in the North West or North Wales (say 60 miles radius of Chester) that has a Yeti for day hire? The only one I can find anywhere is http://www.goldscarandvanhire.co.uk/car-hire/suv/skoda-yeti.aspx . Cheers - Andy
  15. Yep, thanks for that. Seem to be plenty of VAG cars on DL-Y Shrewsbury registrations. Also seeing many on Manchester registrations as well. Seems like nearly all <3 year old used VAG cars are ex-fleet. Makes sense I suppose, not many private owners are going to change under 3 years. Cheers - Andy
