  1. I have a 16 plate vRS (petrol) on a PCP that runs out on March 1st next year. My intention was to roll it over and buy another vRS. However, with order books still closed, no official word on specs or prices and no doubt a stupidly long wait for delivery when Skoda deign to accept my order and generously sell me a car, I’ve bought a Golf. Tornado Red Gti 245 PP from stock from the local VW dealer. Should be with me by the end of the month and as it will not be WLTP compliant, I got a good deal for taking it off their hands before the 1st September deadline. So, goodbye Skoda. Another customer lost due to your useless customer service and lack of any useful information.
  2. Thanks for that. I'll check the iPod's volume settings.
  3. Picked up my new Octavia this week. I connected my iPod (Classic) via the USB input. The volume has to be turned up to at least 75% and, no, I don't want to blow the doors off. My last Octavia had the option to increase the volume of the Media input. Factory default was quiet, but medium or loud could be selected via the Media menu. On the new one, the AUX and Bluetooth inputs have this option, but not the USB one. Is there a reason and/or fix for this?
  4. Placed my order for a Metallic Grey vRS (petrol) on 23rd December. I had a text message from Skoda UK on February 5th advising me that it was being built this week. I'm guessing an early March delivery. Apart from the paint the only extras are Canton, heated seats, Black pack, folding mirrors and spare wheel.
  5. Just choose Meteor Grey, then no one notices you!
  6. There is an ice scraper inside the filler cap flap. Trouble is that the flap gets iced up, won't open & ice scraper is stuck. Brilliant design.
  7. I changed my Mk2 vRs (petrol) for a Mk3 vRs (petrol) in November last year. I have done 13400 trouble free miles in the Mk3 to date. The new one is more refined, more spacious & has great performance, especially in 4th gear where the urge gets addictive! The only options I specced were spare & Canton. The latter sounds great with my iPod Classic as source, although that is probably worth more than the car according to recent media reports discussing Apple's decision to drop it from their range. In short, I love the car just a little bit more than my Mk2. Only niggles are the sound generator (why?), bonnet release on passenger side, no folding mirrors on mine & aux/Apple socket placed so iPod on view when parked. Why not in the glovebox as on Mk2. Small niggles these. Car is a good 'un!
  8. Have my iPod connected via the media input & you can alter the level of the connected iPod's volume via the Sound Settings sub menu if you first access System Setup. Seems factory default is "Quiet" so I moved mine to "Medium" & what a difference. Page 20 of Bolero Owners Manual. Only took 5 months to find out!
  9. Thanks for that. I just leave it in Normal. Seems to be fine!
  10. No, I meant the ability to change the suspension settings; Normal, Sport, Eco & then the option to have an individual setting.
  11. Taken delivery of a petrol vRs hatch, manual, meteor grey with Canton sound system. First impressions are that Skoda have stopped trying to remind you in all sorts of little ways that you couldn't/didn't want to pay extra for a Volkswagen or Audi. The grab handles are now damped, the two internal lights that illuminate the handbrake/dash area on a Golf or A3 are present & there is much more soft touch material around the cabin. In fact, the cabin looks very classy! The new MQB platform makes for noticeably sharper handling & the ride ( at least on the standard 18's) less harsh. The adaptive damping is standard & in Sport it lives up to it's billing! Performance is great, at least on a par with my Mk 2 Octavia vRS, but this one being lighter & having 20PS more will be quicker, I'm sure, when I feel happy putting my foot down in a few more miles time. Negatives? Nothing serious, but the wing mirrors are smaller & so show less & the door handles stick out & look naff. Should have carried both these things forward unchanged from the Mk 2. Finally, the MDI connection is no longer in the glove box, but on the front of the dash. This means you have a trailing lead & an iPod on full view. Daft! Just love the car though & would recommend it unreservedly. Worth the 3 & a half month wait.
  12. Ordered on July 23rd a petrol vRS in Meteor Grey with Canton. Was given build week 44 & delivery in early December. Got a phone call from the dealers on Monday to say it had arrived & picked it up Thursday. The dealers computer was showing the car as still being in the Czech Republic!
  13. Ordered mine on July 22nd from Eardley's in Stoke. I've been quoted delivery in " early December", but who knows. Colour is Meteor Gray with Canton & Apple connector thingy. Pretty standard in the hope of a quicker build!
  14. Just back from the dealers, having ordered a new Octavia vRS in Meteor Grey. It's a manual, petrol hatch. Specced the Canton sound system & Apple docking device along with the paint. No other extras. Been quoted delivery in December.
  15. Yes, you will. Works ok, I like how the track/album/artist details are displayed on the Bolero when using the iPod (but not the album artwork). I had a similar lead on my previous car, a Mk5 Golf Gti, which worked well but displayed no track etc information. The MDI in my Skoda has one fault the Golf never had though. The MDI likes to keep playing the iPod even when there is no one around to listen. I have about 4000 tracks on my iPod and leave it in the glovebox hooked up to the MDI at all times. I play the tracks sequentially most times and at least a couple of times a month I'll switch off listening to The Clash and next day switch on to find I'm now listening to Donovan! Don't know why, but obviously less annoying if you are listening in shuffle mode. Or have a better taste in music.
