  1. No AG none of the windows work with the ignition off. I've Just been sitting in my daughters Mk 2 10 plate Fabia 4 door diesel, it has front power windows only, turned off the ignition leaving the keys in and guess what, the power windows still lift up and down, so I've sat in the car and timed how long I could lift the windows up and down for with the ignition off , after almost 10 mins they stopped working and I had to re-switch on the ignition, then approximately for another 10 mins i could still operate the windows, this has been the same with every Fabia I've had, I could always wind the windows up for so long after turning the ignition off, anyway thanks for the info on the number 30 fuse AG but I don't think the issue is a fuse, more likely a relay or some timing device that keeps the power going to the windows for so long after turning the ignition off, I'll crack it somehow 🤔😕 Thanks RGF
  2. Yes AG all four windows are electric on my Monte Carlo, Skoda admit the windows should operate for a short time after the ignition is turned off but they would need to have the car in to diagnose the fault and you know what their diagnostic charges can be even if it means just replacing a relay, I've been stung before for those costs, I'll put up with the problem before I'd take the car to a dealers, it's just that every Fabia I've had has allowed the windows to operate for a short time after the ignition is switched off, that means I would think there must be a relay somewhere that allows this operation, bit like the radio, you can switch off the ignition while sitting in the car but the radio still operates for 30 odd minutes then shuts off meaning you have to re switch the ignition to get the radio to operate for another 30 mins, it's I just don't know where to look to find what controls the delay on the windows. Thanks rgf897vRS Car DSG Monte Carlo TSI 110
  3. Hi I'm trying to say, if i park up and i'm waiting for someone, I turn the engine off but leave the keys in the ignition, i can then still open the windows even though the engine is stopped the keys are in the position were i could pull them out, i can still open and close my windows for so long, maybe about 5 mins or so, this has been possible on every fabia i have had including 2 vRS mk1 a mk 2 estate, my daughters mk2 estate, a mk2 saloon, my Octavia estate and a few weeks ago on a 17 plate Fabia mk3 saloon colour edition courtesy car, in fact I have just tried a mates fabia also on a 16 plate and i can open and close his windows with the keys still in the ignition barrel but the engine off and in the position to pull the keys out, it doesn't matter what position i leave the keys in mine except ignition on will the windows still operate.
  4. Hi, does anyone know what relay control the power windows, if I stop my car engine I cannot open or close the window without having to restart the engine again, I have had many Fabia's and never had this problem, I've always been able to open and close the windows for so long after turning the ignition off. At present I have a 2016 Monte Carlo, I've tried asking the Skoda dealers but they just say I would have to book it in so they could diagnose the fault and are not able to give out any information over the phone. All I want to know is if anyone can tell me what number fuse or relay i would be looking at to see if it's blown or if a relay is missing for the power windows to still operate for so long after turning the ignition off. As I say the windows operate fine as long as the engine is running. Thanks in advance if anyone knows how to fix this problem.
  5. Ford Taunus 2.0 V6 (1966 L/H ex German police car) Great first car in 1979, only had a few weeks when hit by 32 ton artic, cops said if been in Escort would have engine on my knee, saved my life that car, no one would repair it, got wrote off but mate in work (Stig) who had garage at the arches (Liverpool Docks) came to my house, looked at car, when i asked him could he repair it he said its metal i can fix it, so to cut a long story short i got what parts i could to replace smashed stuff and Stig straighted everything else out, and resprayed the car Venetian Red, ended up in pocket even after everything had been paid out. Stig's long since passed away but he was a brill body man. Ford Escort Mk2 1.3 not bad Ford Sterra 1.6 spent lots of time on this, bunged it full of 15L Waxoyl, wont have rusted away that's for sure Ford Fiesta 1.8D good car, noisy but good Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec very nippy, lots more resposive than the 1.4 Ford Fiesta 1.4 Ghia X slow compared to the 1.25 Daewoo Matiz, ok ok i know, don't laugh it was a good car just wouldn't pull you out of bed Mazda 323 2.0 Sport, luved this car, had from new 2002, changed it in March this year for the SE, only done 29k, Absolute Mint Condition, one of the lads at the Skoda dealer snapped it up where i got my SE Skoda Fabia vRS SE mapped by Ben at Shark Perfomance, God this one is fast now, absolutely luv this car, it's sheer enjoyment to drive and looks great too, won't be changing it for the new vRS unless Skoda give the option of a diesel and stick gearbox, don't like the paddle shift thing, had a test drive, it's a no no for now............
  6. Hi Thanx a million for that, it was as you had said, the connection by the bulkhead, it had popped apart, bit akward to get at with pipes in way but managed to get two hands to it and push back together, ....All the best for New Year............... :cocktail:
  7. Not the new one, unless they put a standard manual gearbox and 2.0L turbo diesel engine in it, had a test drive in the new vRS and told the dealer i wouldn't be changing my vRS SE for the new one, he said a few people had told him that plus under energetic driving the fuel consumption nose dives into the bottom 30's mpg not like in the old vRS that stays in the 40's mpg. Give me the choice of petrol or diesel and gearboxes and i'll change but not until, is it too much to ask of Skoda? let's face it, we've all enjoyed the performance AND economy with the old vRS give us the choice with the new one, coz let's face it we ain't going to get economy with a petrol engine.....Not sure if i like the look of the new one but that's coz i love my vRS SE so much, suppose it will grow on me when i have to change..........
  8. Hi, Can anyone help me over a not working rear wiper washer, iv'e got a Fabia vRS SE, the front washers are working fine but the rear washer has stopped working. you can hear the pump working but no water is coming out (it's not frozen) has anyone else had this problem and if so, suggest where i should first start looking, i was going to take the wheel arch liner out and look at the connections on the bottle but could there be anything else before i do that....Thanx for any help anyone can give.....
  9. The problem is, my dealer Mitchell Skoda at Cheshire Oaks has not made the answer to the original question any more clear by saying SOME came with a steel spare, surely all SE's would have had the same spare wheel unless the car had been ordered with an alloy spare, or purchased one after buying the car, can anyone say they are 100% sure what was fitted as standard.... As it is a steel spare in this SE i  i'll just get an alloy one for it.....
  10. I;m in the Platt Bridge area, i was a couple of cars behind an SE a few weeks back on Lily Lane and have seen it a few times when driving the wifes car around Wigan......maybe it's urs i've been seeing were abouts in Wigan ru.....
  11. Thanks for that info, the spare alloy one in mine fits perfect, but anyway thanks......
  12. Hi, Just in the process of purchasing a second 2007 Fabia Race Blue Vrs SE for the wife as she was gutted when i got mine back in March, so changing her Honda Jazz for her. Does anyone know for 100% sure if the 2007 Fabia Race Blue Vrs SE is supposed to come with an alloy or a steel spare as standard. The one i've got has an alloy spare, but on inspecting this second car i'm getting, it has a steel spare....... Thanks to anyone who can tell me for sure what is standard before i kick off on the dealer as their saying some come with a steel spare..............
  13. Just been looking on the Skoda used car web site where i found my car 2 months ago, i paid £9,995 for my Fabia vRS SE from Mitchell Skoda Cheshire Oaks. At the time i got my car the dealer in Mansfield had 3 SE's in stock, none of which were more than £9,995, one only had 17,000m on the clock, my vRS SE only had 22,500m on it and what made me get this one was, the fact it had a sun roof and was a lot closer to get to. Anyway prices certainly seemed to have leapt up in Preston as they have 3 SE's in stock ( 22,500m,/34,000m,/44,000m) all at £10,995, odd that. Manchester has 1 with 40,000m on the clock for £9,490 and Mansfield 1 with 34,000m for £9,890. Must be something coming off in Preston that's wacking the prices up there. But got to say this is the best car i've had, just for the sheer enjoyment of driving it, worth every pound of £9,995......
  14. 15. Sorry, but  , will be putting the old unit back in if i sell the car............
  16. Thanx for that JulieD, i'll try Halfords tmoz and see if they have such a lead, failing that i'll just have to do as you say and connect my old stereo up temp, must say this Alpine unit is mint (Alpine CDE-113BT) as it takes usb flash drive saving the need to carry a shed load of cds in the car plus it plays MP3 / WMA / AAC and it's bluetooth allowing me to take phone calls through the car speakers, great bit of kit got it from K & M Acoustics in Wigan, it also sounds far superior to the old symphony unit that was in the car, seems like i've had a new set of speakers fitted it's that good, anyway thanx again, cheers Ritch.........
  17. Sorry, yes, i want to get cds out of the old Skoda autochanger under front passenger seat.
  18. Hi, can anyone tell me, just had a Alpine radio fitted but forgot to take CD's out of autochanger is there anyway of getting them out now that it is powered down.... thanx for any advise....
  19. Thanx for that Rob, though mine doesn't have any netting i can quite clearly see what type of hook it is and where to put it, i'll get a similar one and fix it myself... Thanx again, cheers Ritch........
  20. Does anyone know, is there supposed to be a hook for the the loop on the floor covering over the spare wheel and if so, where does it go? Skoda tell me there isn't one for my Jun 07 vRS which i've not long had, but in the Owners Manual it says it is possible to fix the raised floor cover with the loop at the hook (Fabia*) well as my car doesn't have any hook it is quite a struggle to hold the cover up while getting the spare wheel out and as the floor cover passes under the rear seats you can't just lift it out without dropping the rear seats. Does the asterisk after Fabia mean not all have this hook and will i have to adapt something myself..... Thanx for any info.
  21. Just like to say hi to everyone, i purchased a Skoda Fabia vRS Special Edition last month with just over 22,500mls on the clock from Mitchell Skoda Cheshire Oaks, it's the first time i've had a Skoda, what a car, it's absolutely fantastic, a real pocket rocket, wish i'd got one a few years ago when they first came out, i traded in my Mazda 323 2.0L Sport which i'd had from new (2002) it only had a genuine 29,500mls on the clock and was snapped up by one of the lads at the dealer where i got my vRS from. Been as far as Folkstone in the vRS covering over 600mls return and got 49.7 mpg and needless to say my foot wasn't always gentle on the pedal, can't believe how much power this car has got mid range, it just flies past traffic, fantastic economy, i'd have been lucky to get 30 mpg in my Mazda driving it the way i drove the vRS. My God this car just makes you want to go out and drive it. Just purchased (ebay) some 39mm SMD LED festoon bulbs for the rear number plate, makes a vast improvement and looks brill, also got a PD160 air intake which my son got from one of you chaps as he's already in the Octavia vRS club and knows all sorts of the right people to get things from, i'll leave him to fit it when he comes back off his honeymoon, then getting a re-map done, let you all know how the car performs when done. anyway get off now, big Hi to everyone again and looking forward to many more questions which i'm sure i'll have, this car just makes you want to know what other people have done to make it even better............
