  1. Its more than likely water damage to the plug on the inside of the boot lid that plugs into the lock mechanism. I had the exact same issue bought a new plug fitted it and all was fine.
  2. Sounds like a cracked sump or sump plug. Surely if it was something serious like a hole in the block it would of been noticed while driving could be wrong though.
  3. I got a video rca with a live wire together connected the live to the headunit theres was a wire marked r cam that went live when reverse is selected then connected the other end to the camera and earthed onto a bolt in the boot area it all works fine no interference. On another car the owner wanted to be able to switch the camera on and off when he wanted so used the same rca cable with live ran a ignition controlled wire from the fuse box and fitted a switch so the camera can be flicked on when he wants or left turned off all the time. One of those methods might work for you.
  4. If its the first time they have been out it is very tight and takes a good hard pull i ended up lying down pulling on them but they do get easier the more there taken out.
  5. If your going to put the wire in it goes from the only spare space in the plug for the headlight switch and it goes to the black plug pin number 20 in the bcm which is above the accelerator pedal. Cant remember the repair wire number but if you phone the dealers they can give you the part number.
  6. Its more than likely a missing wire ive put a few auto switches into octavias and have yet to find one with all 10 wires. Its an easy job get a repair wire from the dealers cut it in half plug it in at both ends and add some wire in the middle to join both ends. The repair wire is just a bit short thats why it needs cut.
  7. Timpsons can do it they supply the key cut it and code it to match your existing key. I asked at the weekend and they quoted £160 and an hour at the most to do it.
  8. If you really want better lights go the hid and relay way i done that last year with my fl and its passed mots and never had any issues with police. I tried led bulbs but they really are terrible tried 2 sets and both were very bright but they never threw the light a decent distance the halogens were much better.
  9. The stock setup is mirrors fold with long press of the lock button then unfold when the key is in the ignition. The puddle lights dont work if the mirrors are folded in. I might take a trip to the dealers now i know the coding can be changed for the lights to work when folded ive looked on vcds several times for the option this would explain why i couldnt find anything.
  10. Some of the aftermarket headunits have reverse trigger wires. I have a xtrons unit and it had a wire with no tag saying what it was for. After testing it with a multimeter it was only live when i put the car in reverse. But i do have rear parking sensors. Its maybe worth having a look to see if you may have a similar wire.
  11. Bought a kit for my pre fl years ago from superskoda recently got a fl and swapped the kit over not a problem.
  12. Pull the glass out then the shell can be hard to get off but it is just clipped in then youl find 2 small torx screws going down screwing into the indicator module. After they are out the indicator just falls off. its a 5 minute job once you know how to get the shell off.
  13. https://youtu.be/ArTMpUxH_00 this is what his car was doing.
  14. No it was when ever the full beam was flashed the foglights flashed with them and when the fullbeam was flicked on the foglights came on and stayed on untill full beam was put back off. He didnt really know much about the car just that he was sure it done it from when he got the car. Maybe i misunderstood and he hadnt had it from new. Ive seen that it can be done on the mk6 and 7 golf but i cant see anything about octavias having it maybe its not possible.
  15. I seen a FL octavia last night with the foglights flashing with full beam asked the driver if it was something he had got activated from someone but he said its done that since he got it new in 2010. he said he loves it on single track unlit roads full of potholes. does anyone have any idea how this can be done in vcds ive had a look and can't see anything that will do it.
