  1. Got to say this is putting me off too, after selling my mk1 Octy vRS (and wishing I didn't) and buying an E90 BMW I was seriously considering viewing a '06 plate TFSI vRS this weekend. Don't RX8's, whose engines are meant to burn oil, use about 1litre per 1k miles?!
  2. MOD EDIT: You need to be a Freedom Member to sell items on the forum.
  3. Nice pics, i didn't take my camera unfortunately. No piccies of the deloreans?
  4. Welcome to Briskoda, this site has been a great help to me over the last year when i got my Silver mk1 vRS. They are a cracking car too, unforunately i just sold my silver one, i bought it for my GF as her daily but she found it a bit too juicy. I miss it already. Jon
  5. Hatch i'm afraid I think they are a really nice touch, i like subtle changes like that on my cars.
  6. Just remembered i had these, i put off fitting waiting for the warmer dryer weather but i've now sold the car. Anyone fancy a set, lol?
  7. Hi, i'm sorry to say i'm gonna be one of those annoying people who drop out of things at the last minute, i'm afraid me and the missus have decided to sell the car, she's decided she doesn't want a MK2 Octy vRS as she "doesn't see the point of getting a new car the same as the last" lol I don't have a say even though it's my money as she uses it everyday, instead she's making me waste money on 5 grands worth of car with 5 grands worth of BMW branding on it gggrrr! sorry everyone. Jon
  8. Best bet is to try and find for sale pictures on autotrader and the like of Golf's/Bora/Leon etc and check pictures of the rear seats. The mounts for the rear seats on the Octy are under the seat base itself and not at all visable, the bora obviously has a hinge design and the mount is on the floorplan in front of and under the rear seat I was gonna change mine at some point to one without holes but i honestly don't notice them now they're plugged with spare carpet, I had to change my white carpet as soon as i got the car as it was beyond cleaning. Now i'm looking to trade the car i'll leave it.
  9. Mines a Bora carpet, it was very easy to do. The mount for the rear seats are different though and the Bora carpet will leave 4 holes in sight under the rear seat, their is excess carpet that tucks under the seats you can use to plug the gap though and iirc from around the pedals.
  10. Good job, makes a world of difference. Was very pleased when i did mine.
  11. 1. Opentoideas - PD100 Fabia 2. Jon.Etheridge - Mk1 Octavia vRS 1.8t - Map + STS Thanks for organising this, top work! Jon
  12. my last cheap run aroung i bought for the G/F's commute for work was a MK3 Mondeo 2.0 TDDI ON 113,000 miles after 3 ish months of using a redex one shot injector cleaner in every tank the mileage started to increase, only by about 70 miles a tank. I only used the stuff as my dad had loads left in his shed from the previous owners of his house.
  13. I know this isn't what your asking but i know for sure the carpets from an Audi A3, VW Golf and VW Bora definately fit. I have no idea on the Leon though, sorry.
  14. After owning many Fords this is a solution I'm familiar with, lol
  15. Thanks for the tip, i do have a glovebox rattle i haven't had a chance to look into I'll have a look.
  16. Aren't these still sold new in Brazil, not the split screen ones though? I saw an old Fifth Gear last week when i was off work sick, think they're approx £35,000 and Fifth Gear were doing a comparison with a modern VW camper. Their conclusion was to buy an older one and restore it to your spec and you'll still have change in the bank.
  17. Should be under the plastic speaker grill on the passenger side of the car. When i bought my vRS (second hand) there wasn't one.
  18. Cleaned, snow foamed, polished, sealed , hoovered, conditioned the leather etc mine accepting the fact that as the Mrs works in the middle of no-where and has to drive down a muddy country lane everyday for work it'll be filthy again now. I had to get my hands dirty yesterday physically removing handfuls of mud from the arches :-( ... Also attempted to fit my black B & C pillar trims but gave up trying to remove the window rubbers which were stuck fast, i'm not good with fiddly things like vinyl so any excuse to give up suited me fine, lol.
  19. Look out for normal wear and tear items that need replacing, such as knocking from suspension bushes etc. You may have to budget for a clutch and DMF if you buy a car with that mileage which has not had this replaced already, that can cost £600-£800 ish. I'm considering chopping my mk1 vRS in for a high mileage mk2 in the summer, if serviced sell there's no reason a modern engine won't last well past 200k, a car on 100k doesn't bother me at all.
  20. Hi, now the tatty cream carpet has been replaced in my MK1 Octavia vRS with a black carpet i was wondering if it's possible to dye the white bits of the door cards and seats to match. Also i noticed at the weekend my G/F's cheapy coat from New Look has started to dye the seat base, lumbar area and door card where her elbow rests so i'd like to hide that as i'm not sure it'll shampoo off. I've searched the internet and found a potential product to use, it's called simply spray. I was wondering if anyone had done this before. I'm a bit concerned the dye may rub off on clothes, also wondering if the fabric will go hard/crusty after dying? Also will the seats have some sort of protection on them like scotchguard which would mean the dye won't take or after 8-9 years of use will that have worn off long ago? This car is a daily commuter i bought my GF so i'm not interested in forking out for a retrim. Any advice and suggestions are welcome. Jon
  21. Think i'm having a ......... quarter life crisis??! lol Also quite like stuff like this.... http://thecrashingdoor.blogspot.com/2010/09/sticker-bomb_13.html I'm on the look out for one of these at the mo, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E30-325i-Sport-SE-Reg-1987-Black-/110636924186?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item19c2797d1a, and am considering euro/rat styles My G/F of course is trying to put her foot down.
  22. This isn't mine, but i am very very tempted, just wanted to share this awesome find i stumbled across on eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1996-SKODA-FELICIA-GLXI-RAT-LOOK-CUSTOM-BUILT-/140500428449?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item20b67a66a1 enjoy!
  23. That is correct, i have fitted other items to stud walls (not using a stud) and the plaster has fatigued, the fixings have become loose. My 22'' has been ok for 2 years though, i guess it depends on the wall mount you use, mine is quite a large square so the weight is spread over a larger surface area, also it is a low profile mount so is fixed very close to the wall. Jon
  24. I had the same problem in my bedroom, couldn't find a stud in a decent enough position so just mounted it where i could. I just downsized to a 22'' LCD as the 32'' would have never held in place (was considering an LED but there doesn't seem to be any decent 22'' LED's about that are wall mountable....mmm), i used the following fixings as linked above http://www.screwfix.com/prods/34215/Fixings/Cavity-Fixings/Metal-RediDrivas-50mm-Pack-of-100 They seem ok so far, fingers crossed. If they fail i was thinking about mounting a square sheet of wood (smaller than the TV so it's not visable) to the wall, and mounting the TV to the wood, should give the fixings more of a bite. Jon
  25. Rear washer pipe or leaking from the ariel base i would say. Get the headlining off and have a peek. Jon
