It could be that the DRLs only come on when the handbrake has been released - I have configured it to do this on my 60 plate.

Autocar - 4Wheel drive Vs Winter tyre results
Lornak replied to HWMBO - Mark's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I used Vredestein Quatrac 3s on my Fabia PD100 all year round Nov '11 - Nov '12. I took it down to the Alps and climbed the snow covered resorts roads very easily - but I did take a pair of EasyGrips just in case, but there wasn't a need to even to unpack them. I found them so reliable that I got another set when I replaced it with an Octavia. -
need to disable power steering pump.

My work's Vauxhall Combo PAS died when using it. Brought back memories of trying to drive an LDV 400 without PAS and how to steer properly. -

I had a Samsung Galaxy 551 for about a day. That had a slide out keyboard but no HD video recording, apart from that a nice little phone. -
Can a VW garage carry out warranty work on a Skoda
Lornak replied to MTB's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
When I needed to get my cambelt changed. I phoned a VW garage in Portslade. The lady on the other end said "Oh, we don't do those." -
Same with mine. is it a bling/twing sound.

... If what I've guessed is close to what actually happened... Yes, that is pretty much it. A bit late now to change them over, it is at the repair centre now.

Now theres a thing. Nokian WR g2 on the front and the StarPerformer AS on the back. Nokian say they are all-season. The damage to the sign post has been reported too (I did it Monday morning).

thanks.

Oh well, managed to knock down a signpost this evening. :'( Coming home from Uckfield to Lewes (A26) A Land Rover pulled over to the side of the road, I manoeuvred around it and lost it. I tried to correct the slide to no avail. On the plus side I was heading for the Alps on the 9th January, so I am glad it happened here and not over there. Damage: o/s/f and o/s/r doors bent at B-pillar, o/s/f wing bent. Leaky washer fluid bottle and no headlight. Bonnet is fine and no air bags went off or coolant lost, so I was able to keep the engine running 'til help arrived. It's drivable - just looks a state.

I could have done with my box changing up last night, must have lost about a mm trying to get grip on a hill (winter tyres too). But once it got going... fun fun fun!
-
I agree, my winter tyres are brilliant too. First car with them on, why didn't I think of doing it to my previous motors?

This evening down South East: It was absolutely chucking it down from about 1930 this evening, at least 4 inches had fallen in just under three hours. My Nokian WR g2 tyres were great! Trouble is with the compacted snow made by the other vehicles in front made starting off on a hill a mission. Climbing a bridge (C7 over A27) - not a problem. Just got past Lewes Railway station to find that the Police Dog wagon in front of me had spotted a Mercedes car blocking Station Street at the bottom causing, him and me to stop. Needless to say, getting grip was a bugga. I reckon I would've made it too. On the fun side: Just left my grandparent's house in Woodingdean. As I was clearing the windows and roof of snow a Mitsubishi 4x4 thing drove past going up Bexhill Road (Woodingdean), I thought he'd be long gone by the time I get there? Wrong, going down Falmer Road towards Lewes, I caught him up!
