  1. Greetings from Greece! I also experienced the same problem, cylinder 3 misfire, cable was the cause (50000km on tacho). Made about 100 km (60 miles approx.) with the car in safe mode. I had very low instant and overall consumption, making me believe that the ECU stopped injecting in the 3rd cylinder. The service told me not to worry. They replaced the lead and plug with used spares and advised me to change ignition leads along with plugs in the next service. I have also found some evidence that 2010 and 2011 1.2 TSi VW Group cars experience this lead problem, here in Greece, within 2013. Skodas, Seats and VWs. To me it looks like a bad design issue rather than a faulty lead batch... The service told me that likely I will not have any further problem, till the change, however I have some long trips and I am also considering to purchase a new set of leads to have them in the boot alltime.
  2. 16.5 cm, 62 mm depth speakers fit without adapters. Fitted them last month, I think is good to know.
  3. RangerMD X 1 (I guess price is for seperate dispatch!)
  4. My 1.2 TSI does the same. You can notice it below 1500 rpm. with 2nd gear (shorter ratio) there is obviously no problem. Minor sacrifice for owning a turbocharged daily car...
  5. Engine noise is absolutely fine below 4000 revs. Road noise is what you hear for the most part. Over 4000 revs, you can hear the engine, not annoying though. Furthermore, I can see no point where casual driving this car would need over 4000 revs. The engine is punchy. Overtaking in uphills with a/c, and full load is easy. Don't no about reliability or durability, nor do I thing that one could really say, however the car does rock! B)B) The fuel consumption of 40+ mpgs is manageable.
  6. The car only has 1100 kms on it, I have read that consumption can be expected to decline further. Also, these are true numbers and I avoid always keeping low revs for better running in. So Yes, believe 45 mpg are realistic. My only concern would be tight turns on uphill roads: you need to keep revs above 1500 to avoid switching down to second or 1st gear. That is you need to have one of those gears in already! However, I am not aware of many 1600 normal aspirated engines (especially 16 valve ones) that could move an octavia with 1300 revs in this situation. The car was measured with the Bosch horsepower system here in Greece. They reported 124 PS and 206 kg of torque!
  7. Well, I own a 1.2 TSI for 5 weeks in Greece! The engine is fine, moves the car definitely better than a normal aspirated 1.6 liter. In hills, high torque helps you maintain speed without stepping on the pedal and increasing consumption. The engine is quieter than the 1.4 TSI. A local magazine compared the two octys and concluded 1.2 is the wiser choice. Of course, due to local tax issues, 1.2 has significantly lower tax and insurance compared to 1.4 (which is similar to the 1.8 here in Greece). The 1.4 has some extra power you will only need if you need to road race sometimes.... Also, do have a look at the enviromental commendation in the VAG site. The 1.2 TSI is much more energy - efficient, lighter materials, 8-valve design to minimize friction. Finally, my consumption, mixed city driving, (35%) and light country road (work at hospital, situated in a panoramic area, thus lots of climbing on the morning and lots of downhills in the evening) is 6.8 litres / 100 Km (you'll need to make conversion, sorry). I hope I helped you:thumbup:!
  8. probably cost reduction. Got mine for 1 month, only noticed that 5 days ago. The same in a Tiguan of a colleague! :S
  9. Own one for 20 days, in Greece. It is as good (probably better) as a 1.6 Mondeo. That being said, I find it satisfactory punchy. High torque from low rev is good when traveling loaded with a/c. One minor drawback which I have spotted and not read anywhere else: the car is a little reluctant to start and climb >10% grades. When on the move no problem but setting of, needs some effort with clutch and throttle.
  10. It will be around 2012 I think. http://octinfo.com/index.php?p=octavia3_intro_en Anyhow, following Golf MK7 is also the other -more favorable for us, Octy 2 owners- probability. Despite the fact I knew these info, I have a 6 days old 1.2 TSI Octy parked outside!
  11. Yesterday. Pleased with the car already. 1.2 TSI is more than sufficient to move this car. Mo need to rev it more than 3.000-3.000 for everyday use. Remainder for pleasure and overtaking...
