Skoda Octavia Owner

Got a return Email from Skoda Ireland today, telling me my New Car has been ordered and that the delay is due to the availability of parts (or lack of) and that the car I ordered at the 20th January, I should have it sometime in mid June at the earliest! If I had known there would be such a delay, I would have chosen another make of car!

Thanks very much for your helpful suggestion; I will get onto the garage I am dealing with on Monday and let him get a Tracking Number for me - that should get the skids under them!

Yes, it is a small family run business, with no ties to any Dealership. He deals in all makes, but deal mainly with popular makes, ie Ford, Toyota VW etc. and now Skoda.

Thank you James for that information. I will get onto my garage and find out the Tracking Number and take it from there. You have put me thinking about the long delay! PS. The garage I am buying from is a small garage and not a dealership.

On the 20th January this year, I ordered a New Skoda Octavia 1.6 Diesel DSG. I was told there would be a 8 to 10 week wait for it, which was OK. After 11 weeks I went back to the garage and was told it would be another 5 weeks! Fine, I can deal with that. I went back today, expecting to be told the car would be ready next week, but was told it would be another 3 weeks! It is not a Special Order, it is Automatic (which is not unusual) and an Elegance model. How many other people have the same (waiting) problem I have? I live in West Cork, Ireland.

Today, I went to the garage that I ordered the Skoda Octavia on the 20th January this year and was told (for the third time over the last 15 weeks) it will be now another 3 weeks! I think it will be at least 20 weeks in all. I'm fed up with this waiting. However, I have come this far, another few weeks won't make too much difference.

The car I have is good for now, so I cope OK. It did give me a lot of trouble over the three years I have it. I am a Disabled Driver and the Toyota Corolla I drive has a Servo Clutch; it was fine up to a few years ago but since cars have gone all Electronic, the electronics in the Servo play against the electronics in the car. That is why I am buying a DSG (automatic) which I am really looking forward to.
